Zeke was sitting off a pier with his legs off the water. His first real job and he had screwed it up. The truck got away and he had gotten captured. Fortunately, he was traded back in exchange for the heroes they had captured. Even so, he had felt powerless aginst the hero. Everyone else seemed to be able to hold their own. He wondered why as he has a sphere of water hovering over his cupped hands. He didn't feel like he belonged with the big shots like Morgana or Priest who both seemed respected for their actions and not humiliated. None of the heroes took him seriously either, even going out of their way to make him feel more useless. Something needed to change otherwise he would end up being an outcast again.

  Lei was bored, bored, bored! She swam around listlessly, aimless of any true sign of fun. She had seen this log numerous times. Nothing was new, it was driving her crazy. Maybe she could surprise someone at the wood pier? It was always good to make new stick friends! Lei swam with haste to the pier, looking for some witless prey to feast on. No fat ones, they took too long to be sticks. The feet of a person came into view just as a creepily happy smile spread over her lips. Hello, future stick friend!

Life wasn’t easy, especially when plenty of it was spent behind bars in a prison meant specifically for superhumans such as himself. He loathed his cell, so it was no surprise he left as soon as the opportunity presented itself. It was no simple task either; the damned prison was in Nevada of all places, a scorched land with little to no water. Of course, he threatened some useless driver into bringing him back to Chicago, and from there, spent a large amount of time recuperating in the depths of Lake Michigan. Travis Quade, better known by his alias of Mad Manta, had returned, but unlike Blue Devil—who, like an arrogant fool, made himself known and was swiftly defeated—Quade had taken his time. However, all that time, he needed to catch up, meeting with old contacts, refreshing his memory, and—of course—settling a few scores. There was one thing however, that no one would have guessed was important to the villain: family. It was no simple task, but he realized he had not one, but two children, though only one’s records were clear enough to follow: Zeke Augustine.
As luck would have it, there were people who kept track of where to find him. It wasn’t that hard, and Quade was no fool. As soon as he knew, he hunted him down, and now he was standing at an otherwise empty fishing pier overlooking Lake Michigan. However, that was only the pier. Quade could sense something in the water, moving closer and closer towards Zeke. “I’d step away from the water if I were you; someone’s going to try to snatch you and pull you down under in a few seconds. Use your powers; you’ll know.” If Zeke turned, he would find a mysterious fellow in a trench coat.

Zeke was startled when he heard a voice behind him. It caused him to lose the focus needed to keep the small water orb he had been playing with and it dropped sloppily back into the water. He stood up away from the water and turned to look at the man and his attire, he did not look like the normal pier visitor but neither did Zeke with his zip hoodie and blue jeans. While he did do what the man said and get back from the water, it was not necessarily because this man's warning more cause he didn't want to be caught sitting if this man had ulterior motives. But what confused him the most was what he meant by 'use your powers', he had been with that water orb. "What do you mean?" Zeke asked suspiciously. If he had learned anything from the other villains is to be suspicious. He did look out towards the water, he had seen some strange bubbles earlier. If he did focus on the whole of the lake he could tell there were likely fish moving trough it and disturbing it, but like the man implied there was a big disruption. The hell?

Lei was juuuuust about to lunge out of the water to grab and pull down her haul, but just as she thought about it... the feet vanished! Lei paused and stared up, frowning deeply and hoping maybe the feet would come back down. Then the fear entered her mind that maybe she was spotted?! She swam down deeper, under the pier to hide, poking her head up from the surface just enough to look up from behind the two people. They didn't seem afraid... maybe she could make stick friends from both of them?! Two for the price of ONE. The bestest of deals. She sank below the water's surface and planned to use the her own weight to knock both men off the wooden surface and into the water. She swam down and swam in a circle under the water and when she built up enough momentum, she jetted up high out of the water and crashed into the dark haired boy aiming to tackle and taken him down to the depths on the other side.

He smiled, hoping to evaluate but focusing on the current dilemma. “Step back four spaces and duck,” he suggested authoritatively, raising his left hand and taking the water from that side of the pier with it to bring a small wall up between his son and—his daughter? While it took a moment, his memory did register her features, the parallels between her, a woman he once knew, and himself, deducing that she was his daughter. His memory was superb; there was not much else to think about in prison. Now, his retaliation wasn’t intended to harm her, though he would imagine the sudden collision with the wall of water would have felt like falling at in incorrect angle, which was uncomfortable, to say the least, but she should have landed fine, though any splatter of water his direction would have caused him to step back. “I wasn’t supposed to find you until tomorrow, but this is unusually convenient.” However, there were two of them there, and if they caught any attention, it was probably for the best. “Now, how to put this…lightly? I might be your father, most likely, biologically.” It wasn’t so far-fetched considering the obvious physical similarities.

Why did he need to step back? Zeke thought to himself. The awnser came quickly when off to the left side of the pier this stranger. Created a wall of water to prevent an attack from.....a mermaid? In Lake Michigan? First of all mermaids were not real but he could blame a mermaid themed superpower for that but wouldn't the ocean make sense for her to live? Though the biggest supprise came in the form of this stranger pulling a Star Wars and declaring he was his father. Well they kinda did look simaler but that could be a coincidence. Though the power similarity did add a nugget of truth. "What makes you say that? " This day was shaping up to be a strange day. Though it took a long look but Zeke was finally able to place the face. Was Mad Manta his father then?

Lei's attack went horribly wrong as she sent clear of her target and into a wall of watter, splashing back into the other side in failure. She tumbled a bit, going tail over head till she could correct herself back at the bottom. Lei moved the mess of hair floating around her back from her face so she could see above her. The man had made water? She moved slowly up to the surfce, peaking out with large curious eyes. Who could he be, to make water move like her? Guess she couldn't make stick friends from them.... maybe fleshy friends?

It was humorous how “lightly” he put it, but he was not known for subtleties. “Well, let’s put it like this. I escape from my prison and do a bit of research. I find that an ex-lover had a son and put him for adoption, and he just so happens to have my powers. Doesn’t that seem like a strange coincidence?” He looked over to the girl. “I can’t tell if this is a strange convenience or not, but she might be your half-sibling. I don’t think I really need to explain how that might be.” How many people with aquatic powers had dark hair and bright eyes? He doubted there were many, especially if they just so happened to have familiar characteristics to their mothers. While he would have loved to explain the infamous list—which he didn’t—he would rather let them figure it out.

Well that was certainly a logical conclusion. It was kinda of too coincidental to be false. He looke toward the water and spotted the one trying to drown him. While he had hoped to have a family this certainly was a strange one. Gee did Mad Manta get around and he somehow now part of a weird brady bunch kind of bull sh*t? "I'm almost afraid to ask how big the family reunion going to be." He said. Thunderstruck's humor was rubbing off but he tended to be more sarcastic.

Lei listened to what the land walkers were saying with mild interest but mostly confusion. These two were so ... odd. They did water stuff like she did! But.... they weren't ... fishy? Maybe they were on fleshy sticks because they were dry? Lei grabbed onto the wooden platform above her and pulled herself up with ease, arms folded as she dangled off the side, tail till in the water as she participated in the talk. "What do you talk about, land fishies?" Lei smiled revealing thin shark-like teeth.

“It should be small; the rest are dead,” he replied, ever the subtle one. Lorelei asked them a question, so he answered her plainly with, “I’m your father, most likely—small chance not.” How many other dark-haired aquatic supers were there to possibly father them? It sure as hell wasn’t that blond hero from television. He then turned to his son, smiling mischievously. “Anyway, son, it’s high time we catch up! What’s say you and I bond over terrorizing that pier over there? And you can see for yourself whether you want to be part of this strange, strange family.” Either way, the pier was going to be terrorized. It had been too long since he had ruined people’s lives for entertainment. He looked over to his daughter. “Would you like to make stick friends with the people over there?” he offered, pointing to the pier. He wasn’t an idiot; if that’s how she thought of people, then he would play along.

He definitely noticed the shark teeth on his new ....sister? ....half sister? Well either way his new dad seemed to have quite the bonding time planned. Glancing at the peir in question he saw plenty of people on the other peir. Drunk college kids drinking, there was also an old guy fishing, and a few girls considering diving in. Zeke smirked ruining their summer day did sound like fun. "Sounds more fun than getting ice cream." He said, though ice cream did sound like fun too. "Lets do it then, first family vacation." He was attmpting to be a bit more humorous, and not be ironically a wet blanket all the time.

Lei watched the back and forth with mild interest, the sudden permission to make stick friends was all she really cared about. She had permission now, so how could she ever get into trouble? IT WAS PERFECT. Without waiting for the 'go' she started swimming away and torward the other pier. Why wait? THERE WERE STICKS TO BE MADE.
