Hey everyone and welcome to Parahuman! We'll be looking to officially open on Friday with a sort of rolling launch style. Over the next several months we'll be looking to add more content, make adjustments based on feedback, and working to spruce up the appearance of things a bit. If you encounter any problems please don't be afraid to contact a member of the mod staff.

On that note I should mention that when the guild opens for RP it will be at the end of Spring - Month 2. However because it's only going to last for 2 days we will not be counting the month of May as anyone's first full month for the purposes of our housing system.

All that being said, let me introduce myself. Naomi Tenkou is my name although you can call me Naomi or Maiko, and I'm the main designer behind the guild's systems and your powers mod. You'll see me around a lot on discord so if you have any questions, wanna chat, or have ideas don't be afraid to get in touch with me.

Hello!

So we're going to be expanding our in guild staff to include non-moderator positions for handling small scale jobs. These will be handed out on a case by case basis as we need them. If you are interested in taking on some extra responsibilities you can feel free to let us know. But we will ultimately come to you if we feel we need you to possibly take on a role. First along these lines, Nostalgic Gaming Nerd is being charged with handling money transactions in guild. Basically this means any time you sell something/make a purchase, he will need to be quoted when and where it happens so our logs can be updated and we can keep an eye on who has how much, and whether they owe any group money, that sort of thing.

Additionally. Please contact him through PM's on Gaia with your total in-guild currency. This needs to be total per character, not all together. This needs to be done in the next couple of days. Please use the following format, copy pasted for each profile. Until this is done, your character will be considered a hobo. :3

    _> Black Gate

Theme Change: When I first created BG they were intended to be mercenaries without powers. Essentially henchmen for hire for people who may have wanted to say create their villain faction. Well to date most of you that have desired to join it did so as parahumans. Because of this it presented a very large advantage over the other villain group, the Undersiders, in that not only can you do villain missions but you get free income. Now booting people out of their faction didn't sit well with me so BG is changing to reflect the increased presence of capes within its ranks. Now I do like that the current members of the faction have been keeping to a low profile as intended. So in order to help continue facilitating that there will be new conditionals added to earning monthly pay. That being said I'll be watching carefully to see how this goes and further changes may come in the future to better reflect the changing nature of the faction.

New Description: The illicit counterpart to Dragon’s Teeth, Black Gate is like a corporation that sells villainy. They are a mercenary organization which contracts out people with various skill sets to villains in need. This means that they have both parahumans and traditional soldiers of fortune for hire, in addition to skilled professionals. Of course as a multifaceted organization they also handle black market sales, networks of skilled professionals, contracts for jobs, and a host of other functions. Chances are that if you’re not on the up and up you’ll be in contact with them sooner rather than later. The professionals might cost more than doing things yourself but they provide an added layer of secrecy and an ease of conducting illicit activities that you’re unlikely to achieve on your own.

Benefit Change: Monthly Income: $2000 (If human, or your powers haven't been discovered), or $800.

New Service: From the get go Black Gate was meant to have a smuggling service to get people to other cities via portal or government rail. However due to an oversight this service never made it to the launch version. It is now here.

Smuggling: For $2000 x 2 per infamy level above the first bracket, Black Gate will smuggle you through either the portal network or government rail system.

    _> Hench People / Minions

Overview: So there's been some confusion around hiring mercenaries from Black Gate vs your own staff. When you hire a mercenary from Black Gate that's $4000 per merc as stated elsewhere and it lasts for 30 days from the hiring point. The cost of hiring your own staff will be $3000 per person per month and you must provide them with housing and food via a base. More details will come in the future with regards to gaining NPC slots to have combat authorized NPCs.

    _> Wildland Escort

Overview: Now that Black Gate will have its smuggling service available as was originally intended there is a clear cost discrepancy between their service and the one offered by the Sons of b***h. From the outset of designing the guild I did not want to include travel times (post counts) between cities as it's just an unnecessary and often unwanted mechanic. So why then, besides theme reasons, would you use the Black Gate service? Well in keeping with the faction theme of the Sons of b***h being a rogue somewhat autonomous group of peoples that wish to maintain a treaty with the government they will not harbor capes above a certain infamy level. This does not mean that their own capes can not be above this level, just that they will not escort or harbor outsiders who would cause them too much trouble with the government

New Text: $1000 per person, the Sons of b***h will provide a guide through the wildlands to a city of your choosing. Those within the bracket of City Myth or higher will not be able to utilize this service.

    _> Faction Affiliation and Bonuses

Overview: Something which was not explained one way or the other when it came to factions was the ability to affiliate with or belong to multiple factions. In canon lore and thus within the Guild's lore two factions have been closely aligned for a very long time now. Namely the Undersiders and the Red Hand. So information under the factions page will be changing to note that you may affiliate with or be a part of multiple factions so long as doing so makes sense. However you may never claim more than one faction's benefits and may not mix and match them either.

    _> Parahumans Online

Overview: The information topic for Parahumans Online has been updated to note that you must post to the site from within RP and thus your character must have a means of doing so.

    _> Monetary Updating

Overview: To help facilitate a smooth tracking process of the flow of money and ensuring that people have the amount of money that they're supposed to we're working on centralizing how you go about noting changes in the amount of money you possess. Essentially within a new thread you will use a simple provided format to note both money lost and gained, and the same with items.

Within this thread you will also be able to post claim to any monthly money your faction may provide you, and you will be able to pay your housing.

    _> Character Slot Requirements

Overview: Initially we felt that spacing out character slot acquisition would give people a reason to focus on their character and get out there to roleplay. Well turns out there's a lot of ways to go at this world and being so restricted has really felt bad, especially for a lot of our more active players. So with that in mind We wanted to make it a lot easier to get three characters so that at minimum you may be part of all three general faction types (hero, rogue, villain). In the future we'll discuss creating reward based additional character slots.

New Reqs: Your second RPC may now be made 7 days after joining, and your third RPC may now be made 30 days after joining.

    _> Wardens Housing Changes

Overview: Another oversight from launch was where exactly Wardens are supposed to live. As they are adults and may be seeking to live their own lives outside of just cape work we'd like for them to have the option of living in their own home. However the $800 dollar stipend just doesn't cut it. So to that end the Dormitory threads will be updated to accommodate them as well but if a warden should chose to live in their own home they may claim a slightly higher stipend to compensate for that.

Benefit Change: Income of $800 or $400 + Rent of a loft or tier 2 civilian house

    _> Criminal Activity Change

Benefit Change: The Criminal Activity Mission was initially written when there was no cap on missions per day. However since a cap was instituted it didn't really make sense to bar counting the mission as complete for each count of a type of crime. This has been updated to be allowed. What this means is that if you murder a group of four each count of murder entitles you to claim the criminal activity mission.
