Kendall was not put any further on alert by the man's lack of any kind of emotion, nor the gruff, harsh tone his voice seemed to hold naturally. So Huntsman was already on the case. Wonderful to know a Ward was already taking an interest, but also slightly complicating if he wanted to, as he had so far, keep his status as a cape hidden. Even so, he did want to join the investigation for a few reasons. "Sir, if there is room I would. If I could add anything that could lead to an arrest, to some justice for the girl and her family, I very much would like to join on. In case things get dangerous, it couldn't hurt to have an extra set of trained hands out with them." His eyes didn't leave Defiant's face after he asked if he were looking to join up.

 His sense of justice was not lost on Defiant. It was something the man knew well, and appreciated. In a way Kendall reminded him of himself. He'd been like that at one point in time. "I'll let Hunstman know you're coming. They could use a vehicle as neither he nor the two wards have a parahuman means of transportation. I'll have a jeep sent around to the front, follow Hunstman's lead and take them where they need to go. It'll be his prerogative how much you participate, though I doubt he'll mistreat you." It wouldn't hurt to have one of his own officers on the case and besides, he knew all to well that sometimes a human being around could be of great use to parahumans. Orders and communications went out with ease, processed in the background of his mind. Hunstman would be notified, and someone staffing the vehicle garage would bring a jeep around. "Is there anything else officer Weiss?"

Robin nodded accent to her passphrase and would follow huntsmen. She did note the boys concern and he had a valid point but huntsmen had gotten to where he was through the years through active field work. Nothing could really be as simplke as it was during the golden age of the parahumans. She would need to stop at the armory and would sign out a short barrel police shotgun, and a small box of 12 beanbag shells. She would have to return it when they got back but no equipment at all would be a worse idea.

Kendall saluted to the man after he finished speaking, glad he was giving him an oppurtunity here. "Nothing further sir, thank you for your time." He turned on his heel and left the room promptly with a smirk on his face. He would stop by the armory just after Jacket passed through, picking up a rifle with tranquilizer rounds and his combat software for his light power armor, which he would change into before meeting his team.

 Ethan had brought Eli with him and also paged Jacket to return. They needed to compile their discovered information and then try to come up with some kind of plan. He'd sit patiently, simply lost in thought unless Eli had something to say. Otherwise he'd have let the boy sit in silence, emotionally decompressing hopefully. Though if he wasn't it would at least be some time again before they made a move. Despite everything they had probably gathered there still needed to be time for justice to move at its glacial pace. It would take a few days before their priority status got them the girl's phone records, and also for details to come back on the car. DT was also canvasing the area where she was grabbed for possible surveillance footage. But hopefully they could at least solve the question of 'who murdered Tara Zirnitra', then they could maybe work on the parahuman angle.
Once Jacket arrived Huntsman would begin. "Lets break down what we know," he started with a firm tone as the projectors came to life and brought up some images. "Dragon was nice enough to pull the girl's school records so we know that she was still involved with her athletics, track I believe. So school ends and she goes to practice for a few hours. Then she begins the drive home but stops about three quarters of the way home. That's where our perpetrator grabs her at the cemetery and attacks her. The foot prints indicated a struggle, she was shot, and then died several hours later. Following that her body vanished without a trace from the morgue under suspected parahuman involvement. Esper, Jacket, let's hear what you found and your thoughts on the matter. The parents and the boyfriend weren't much help other than providing one piece of information so I'll detail that later."

Jacket had walked into the conference room after dropping off the shotgun at the cage. She listed to Huntsmen and let out a soft sigh, dropping the folder on the table, pulling a yearbook photo of the boy and putting it on the projector. "Talked to some of her classmates. FrIends if you can call her that. She was skeved out by the supposed boyfriend. Guy was obsessed. Going by the general rules, and applying a stretch of serial individuals, this is our perp.
The girl I personally believe triggered. Think we are dealing with a breaker and mover. Not positive on that though. Anyone caused her issues in the last 3 months had something of theirs vandalized. Considering the locations and the people involved, and the fact the freezers at the morgue sure disappeared from were still sealed, I'd say she got up, Teleportation or otherwise leaving the locker. So we have to find someone that probably thinks they are dead, or a spirit of vehemence; and get this guy" she tapped the picture" into custody for further questioning"

INDENT► Esper just listened to both Huntsman and Jacket. Jacket's theory lined up with his own, in a way. But calling Thomas her boyfriend wasn't in the least bit right, and Derek was the most respectful man he could think of when tied to Tara. Someone may have spread a rumor Tara and Thomas had been dating...this further ties in with the evidence found at Thomas's house. "Penguin. We haven't actually stopped Stranger/Master protocols, right? Anyway, With what Huntsman and I found at Thomas's house, her neighbor, and your testimony, Thomas likely was the stalker, and eventual assailant. As we do not have Tara's body for a rape kit use, nor records from the police department if they used one, we can say that Thomas is Tara's attempted rapist and murderer. If we detain him, we could use him as bait for the parahuman phenomenon that is pursuing him, as before you called us in, I observed numerous pranks on him, in the vicinity of Tara's aura. I haven't been around Thomas all that much,
so I won't be able to immediately identify him by aura, but I believe we could start our search at the school easily, and look for him in city cameras. He is our current lead if I am correct in my assessment. Huntsman?" This was getting to be a very close to finished case.
INDENT► Thomas was the one that killed Tara, and a parahuman event occurred that included Tara's body as a catalyst to create an avenging spirit that is now hunting Thomas. Makes sense. If Tara IS the spirit, then it is highly likely the emotional variances in the house earlier were from her trying to remember her life. Then something clicked. "Even if we have Thomas, the focus of her rage, we need to utilize evidence of Tara's life to bring her back mentally. The spirit itself hesitated and went through a series of emotions similar to how Tara felt towards me while alive. We need to effectively bring her back to life through strong emotional memories. We are going to need her actual boyfriend, Derek, as well as possibly other familiar faces like her parents, and friends. I know just the way to set this up. A football field memorial and candle light vigil. Anyone who cared about her will be there. Thomas may not show up tho, so we need to force him there if necessary. I will also attend, but mask less. She never knew my masked persona, but Tara knows Eli. Are there any flaws in this plan?" Things had finally started clicking in Esper's mind. He wanted to save Tara, this is why he got his powers. To find people and bring them home to happiness. All that he needed was the OK from Huntsman and Jacket agreeing to aid his plan.

Looking through the files it appeared that this Thomas had history and a motive. At present the attacks by themselves most likely wouldn't hold up court so those were probably out. If they put pressure on him, and Dragon continued to supply her resources they probably would find more evidence of his guilt and eventually have enough to bring him to trial. However in the mean time they'd have this suspected parahuman to deal with. Bringing Thomas in for both investigative and protective reasons would make sense. "Broccoli. I suppose you're correct Esper, they are still in effect. Good call."
Huntsman seemed to sit and think for a little before speaking again. His mind had been putting together more pieces, working things out. Between what the three of them had gathered a story was unfolding. "The evidence is beginning to lead us towards this Thomas Gerrick, but also seems to implicate our victim as both a parahuman and a criminal. Normally I would bring Thomas in for questioning at this point while forensics does it job and more of the evidence falls into place... however there's one problem. Our suspect parahuman seems quite dangerous. We know that they can be invisible, move very quickly via some unknown means, aren't deterred by walls, and can interact with the world still. I'd hate to put the people here in danger by irritating that parahuman over something as simple as making Thomas unavailable. That said, we can't leave them to their own devices either."
Of course Esper was also clearly trying to work out his ideas and plans, something Ethan had expected since the boy knew Tara fairly well. It was a little fantastical, but then so were the events of this case. However what he did know was that the parahuman had reacted emotionally to Elidor but had also chosen to flee the confrontation rather than become aggressive or raise the stakes. They might be able to use that. It was risky and he'd have a few questions but some part of the boy's plan might actually work. He doubted there was anything supernatural going on here, but perhaps they could bring both of them in to custody with one go.
"Hawk. Jacket what are your thoughts on the matter?" The response word to his challenge would be a word starting with T and so hopefully this was still the real Jacket. Once she was finished speaking he'd look to Esper and add, "Your plan sounds like a good trap, though I'd avoid thinking of Tara in terms of the supernatural. The circumstances are weird, and I can't say I've ever heard of someone coming back from the dead but I think it's best if we try to stay grounded in what we know to be fact. That being said, If Tara is our parahuman as we suspect she very well might think herself to be dead. My hope is that maybe such a situation might provide a chance for us to talk to her and resolve things without a fight if we can."

Jacket could have kicked herself. She was the one that suggested the protocols. She looked up at Huntsmen and hesitated a moment. She had to Remember her protocol. "Trans...."she started without thinking. She juridical finished the word "mission. Transmission"
She face faulted for the brief moment. "Plans sound. Just don't use any overt displays of your power. Unless you want to be completely out in the open. Tell yeah, not the greatest thing to not have a hidden identity." She said, crossing her arms. " that being said, it's not uncommon for a badly hurt regenerator to be missdiagnosed and get back up from a bear death state. I'd assume at least a brute class in this. We want to have our eyes open if esper is bait"

INDENT► Huntsman had a point. His mental approach was as if Tara were indeed dead and a ghost. Likely, her trigger event actually occurred near death and mapped onto her concept of dying, then using her knowledge of spirits to create a parahuman ability reflective of that. But to trigger in such a state...and not know that you did. Esper wanted to save his friend. This is why he wanted to do the candle vigil. She believes she is dead, which will allow the situation to unfold in such a way to enable Esper, or rather Eli, to safely push people into saying certain things. To subtly have people "remember" her life, but in doing so, trigger those memories in Tara until he can give a speech himself saying things like "She isn't dead to me. She is right here." and such, pointing to her. Sure, it will be overt usage of his power, much against Jacket's wishes for him to retain his secret identity, but...him being out isn't a bad thing. He could give hope to a lot of kids who face bullying and discrimination for being autistic. He was a cape with sensory powers and autistic. He could really start a platform to get his people some help. He shook his head clear. That was idealism. If his plan worked, Tara's identity and his own would be preserved.
INDENT► He came back around to focus on Huntsman and Jacket. "I am aware of both points. Keeping my identity a secret would be nice, but in the event things start going sour, I will have my uniform on under some bulky clothes, and my mask on hand. I doubt they will. Huntsman, I know Tara can't be dead if she is our parahuman, but I am also running off the fact that she isn't, and someone used her body as a vessel for their own powers, converting the body itself into a medium of sorts to pursue their own vengeance. Until I know for sure, Tara is both alive and dead to me. It is the only way I will be able to keep composure, no matter the outcome, based on the mission at hand." It was in that moment, he may have forgotten that Jacket doesn't know of his own personal stake in the mission, about how he and Tara were more or less friends despite happenings at the school. It didn't matter. Saving her, whether dead or alive, is truly the only way to bring peace to her parents, Derek, and hell the entire school. Take Thomas out of there will keep others safe. That was his job as a Ward, and Eli has gotten damn good at it.
