Misha laughed at his sheepish admission and shook her head. The reaction, judging by her expression and warm smile, reflected a charmed sort of amusement, nothing mean or judgmental. "No, no. I get that," she assured him. "I was in my own room for ages. Sylvia and I just moved in together after Halloween." She grinned, winking. "It's amazing what a few drinks will encourage you to ask." She lifted her cup again for a long, satisfying sip of her drink. Then she shrugged one shoulder upwards in an elegant motion. "I gave up my old apartment," she admitted. "Not right away, of course. But it wasn't fair to keep my old roommate hanging like that so I told her to start looking. Besides, it was silly to pay for something I wasn't using. She found one of our other friends to take over the lease with her and, bam, my stuff is in storage until I can finish going through it. When I go home to Philly now, I can just stay at my parents' place. Unless I move back again but this place is it for now, I think." Misha cocked her head to one side, studying him. "If you get the job here, are you going to give up your place in San Francisco? Which, by the way, I hear is amazing. I've never been."

"Well I will say, I am totally okay with not having a roommate. It's nice to be able to control everything in your own apartment, like the food for example. Or who gets to come in." He had a roommate in college when he stayed in the dorms. Tom got out as soon as possible to rent his own apartment. It was one thing to not clean the dorm room, but his food disappearing and all of the random women and friends coming over and sometimes stealing his stuff, he couldn't take it. "Unfortunately I don't drink so I can't exactly meet people over drinks, unless it's something non-alcoholic." Because he was certainly able to talk to her now while she was sipping coffee and he was drinking the remnants of his hot chocolate. "I'm kind of a downer that way, but I don't like the effects it has on me after I've drunk it." He shrugged his shoulder. "Depends. I probably will keep it until I get a roommate, and even then it would be a few more months of getting to know each other and our habits before I would give the other apartment up. If I can't get along with my roommate, I would like a place to be able to control my own stuff, you know?"

"Mmhm, I know." Misha smiled gently but there was a spark of mischief that grew in her eyes as she watched him lay out his reasoning. "It's okay, Tom. A lot of guys have problems with commitment." Then she laughed, a musical little giggle that proved her comment meant nothing more than a joke about his resistance to giving up his own apartment. She could not fault him for it; Misha well knew that not everyone was as ragingly extroverted as she was. Setting her cup down, she reached across the table to touch the back of his hand briefly. "I don't think we all need to rush to get roommates," she continued. "There's so much room in the dorms still that, unless we suddenly get bus-loads of new Chosen, we will be good on space for a while. I think a lot of people are still sans roomie. I just like being around people too much." The admission came with a charmingly lopsided smile.

Tom made a face but then chuckled a bit. He was surprised at her when she touched the back of his hand and he was surprised at himself that he didn't flinch at the sudden contact. Not unwanted, but just unexpected contact. He nodded in agreement though, there weren't too many chosen though. It would be interesting though once it started to get more crowded. "I'll be enjoying my time without a roommate for now. But if I'm eventually forced into it, I won't mind if we are okay with each other. I only wish I was a bit more extroverted, but I tend to start feeling sleepy if I'm around too many people after too long. Wish I didn't but-" He shrugged his shoulders in acceptance, knowing that being around people for a while just didn't give him energy. "I still have a cat though at my old apartment too. I don't want to give her up." That reminded him that he needed to go and adopt another one. Unfortunately his oldest had gone just a couple of years ago and the one he still currently had was starting to get a bit lonely.

Awww, kitty! Misha's amusement at how Tom reacted to her touch was pushed aside at the mention of his pet. She had never had a pet of her own. First, her parents had said they were too much work. Then she was in a college dorm. Then she had roommates who were either allergic or opposed. Then, of course, there had been hurdles like security pet deposits. She smiled at Tom. "What's her name? What kind of cat is she?" Misha paused in her questions to think, biting her lower lip for a moment. Then she shook her head. "I bet you can bring her here. We have an Artemis dorm, after all. The gods can't be against animals if we have that."

Tom smiled, glad he could talk about the cat he missed so much. "It's Persia, it's not very imgainative, but I was never the best at coming up with pet names. And it seemed to fit her anyway since she seemed to be a little princess or something. And she's a Doll Face Persian, so she doesn't have the flat face that you normally see." He wondered if he could bring her and if so how to do it. It would be quite the shock if he were to just teleport back to the Pryataneum with her. He could ask the vet about what to do when transporting her long distances. "I'll have to ask about it first, I wouldn't want to bring a cat into the Apollo dorms if they aren't allowed. I would love to bring her here though. It would give me more of a reason to stay here at least while I figure out what the heck I'm doing here." Having to take care of a cat daily would definitely make it easier to stay at the Prytaneum at least. "If I get to move her, you can come and see her if you want. She's a very nice cat, but she'll probably demand to be put in your lap." She was quite the cuddler after all, and it was hard to resist her.

Misha lit up like fairy lights, smiling ear to ear. "Can I really?" she asked. "I would put my lap entirely at her disposal, of course. That's only to be expected when it comes to princesses. We can be a pretty spoiled bunch." She giggled. Then she leaned forward a bit over her cup, spinning it idly in her hands. "But we are really lovely when we get what we want. Should I bring her treats or do you have her on a special diet?" The abrupt change in her line of comments should have seemed strange but, delivered as it was with the same vein of flippancy throughout, Misha managed to swing things between flirty and serious without a blink of her eye.

Tom smiled even more brightly, feeling much better talking about something else rather than himself. Ah cats, always a nice subject to talk about whenever there was someone who liked them just as much as he did. "Yes, she would love it if you 'volunteered' your lap." Of course Persia probably would have planted herself in anyone's open lap, whether they wanted her to or not. He thought about it for a bit. "Well, I can tell you what types of treats she likes the best. She'll reject some, but that's just how she is." "Only requirement for her diet is kitty food only. I've had to fight Bones when trying to keep him away from my sandwiches when he was still with me. Don't want to be doing that again." He made a face, remembering how much he had to fight off the cat. Although he found it more entertaining than anything, it did get on his nerves sometimes, especially when he turned around for a moment, only to look at his sandwich and find Bones trying to steal the cheese. He gave her a look though. "A princess eh? Yes, you guys can be quite spoiled." He replied, smirking.

"But with good reason, right?" Misha's expression reflected pure sweetness and a sort of teasing earnestness. Then she laughed cheerfully, shrugged with one shoulder, and rearranged herself in her chair. With absent ease, she twisted her body and recrossed her legs, one elbow coming to rest on the table between them. "It's a thing," she admitted. "I like to think it's only-child syndrome, too. I'm one and it sounds like Persia is now, too, and she's embracing it. Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
