It didn't feel like any amount of down time could be enough.
But here was the thing: Ernst knew there were problems out there in the world now, that very few people could solve. And he was in a position where - where, yes, he could do something about them, even if he was probably not...the most optimal of choices. And that irked him.
Yet, cowardly as it was, he wasn't really ready, he thought, to go through another experience related to Circe. It hadn't been hard, exactly, but animals weren't his thing - and the thought that he'd be fighting real humans, who wouldn't have wanted to fight him, and who he might accidentally actually kill...it still freaked him the ******** out, if he was going to be perfectly honest. So he'd kind of jumped at the idea of a haunting. Hah. Well - the thing was, if it was a haunting, it was either not a human, or no longer a human, and unlikely to ever become a human again. And it was in a lake house, too, which...well, you know, that meant there'd be a roof over his head.
Still, it wasn't really something he wanted to handle alone. So it came again to his, ah, friends.

🎕 ernst (10:40): how do you two feel about ghosts?
🎕 ernst (10:40): i'm a little tired of animals that might be sentient, etc., and max's files mentioned something in the rockies.
🎕 ernst (10:41): in a lake house, thankfully.
🎕 ernst (10:42): if you're both on campus today, i'd like to contribute to the investigation.
🎕 ernst (10:42): let me know if you're available, darlings!
🎕 ernst (10:47): i'll be at the hearth around 1500.

He'd sent that barrage earlier this morning, and it was now the afternoon, and he'd packed several changes of clothes, a meal that consisted of non-perishable but not disgusting food, his tower shield, and sleeping gear. He'd been a little too anxious to check his phone even though he'd heard a few buzzes signifying some sort of notification. If Davor and Erica came, they'd come. And if not...he could do this alone, probably. Or he could see if someone else was also heading out today.
