Still screaming, Wei just flails his sickle at the rat.

The rat gnashes with it's teeth as Wei stands, but bites deep into the doorframe. After Wei strike's it, it releases, teeters, and lunges, sinking it's teeth into Wei's leg before falling unconscious.
[Wei put it to 0, it attacked and fell to -1. Take 2 dmg, and gimme a Fort save.]

After burying the sickle in the rat and watching it pass out, Wei collapses in a heap and clutches his leg in pain. After a moment of hissing and whimpering, he drags himself over and rips the sickle from the rat's torso before burying it in its neck and then ripping it it's throat out.
((coup de grace))

[Heehee] As the sickle drives home, there is a rush, as if a thick miasma had filled the room. The shadows grow darker, as you mind is flooded with anatomical information of the rat you had just slain. [135xp, congrats! One Dire Rat, you may have yourself one trait from it! As for it's physical ability scores, adjusted to medium, it has a +4 racial to Str, +4 to Dex, and +4 to Con. HD, BaB, Base Saves, etc, are all separate. One cannot grab (1 level of animal hd), just the 1d8 HD.] When you come to your senses, there is a knocking at your door, "Hey, you alright in there?"

Blacking out, Wei could not help but envy the rat's natural agility and mobility, ["If only... if only..."]
Jolting up from the ground, Wei drags himself to the door. Flipping his sickle with surprising ease, he uses it to push aside the bar to let the person in. Groaning, "I could do with some help, please."

Just outside is a woman, Wynna, the high-strung wife of a neighbor, adamantly armed with a morningstar. She sighs in relief and lowers her guard when she sees Wei is alive, "I heard screaming, thought someone had broken into your home."
She steps in and sets the morningstar heavily down just inside the door, looking Wei over, "Uh, what do you need me to do? You're a doctor, aren't you?"
When she notices the rat, she jumps, clutching her chest, "By the gods! Didn't know they could get that big around here." Wynna nods, "Traps, yep, traps are good. Poison too, but you'd have to be careful."

"Ay-yah" Hissing a bit loudly as he tries to get to the table to sit and light a candle, "... I was calling for help because this thing thought my leg was the wall... and my baskets... and medicine... Still have oils, but need to get more herbs..." Giving up, Wei points at the candle on the table, "Please help light. Please."

Wynna pulls a match [tindertwig, same damn thing], from a stitched pocket in her apron and neatly lights the candle, "So it bit you then? Might wanna get checked. Also, if you don't own a shovel, you can borrow ours."
She helps Wei sit, and grabs a nearby bowl, checking its contents, "You have one for water?"
--
Wynna's not much of a healer, but she does offer to fetch one if the wound proves to be too serious [I mean, you should have 6 total HP, and heal 1 per 8 hours of rest/HD]. She does dispose of the rat by taking it outside and throwing it into the ocean.
[As I think I forgot to mention] Wei's home is on the ground floor of a compact housing complex. He has neighbors to the left and above him, mostly dock workers and their families. There is a narrow street that runs in front of your home, and beyond that is stacked rocks all fifteen down to the ocean itself. That street turns and heads up to the next level right by Wei's house, giving him decent insulation in the winter.
However, that's also the side the rat's hole is in. There is a small, foot-wide tunnel that leads back a ways. With the light of a candle, one can clearly see lose stones, and then darkness.

"Yes, yes. I can use herbs to cover wound. I have sickle, works good. The water is in kitchen, across from fire. It is a very big pot."
"..." Using his sickle to scrape over a piece of rock or pebble, Wei flicks it into the hole to see if he can gauge depth and characteristics.

The stone vanishes into the shadows, where it clatters on stone three times before plunking into water. The clatter echos shortly after. Best guess, the storm drains.
It does draw late, best to cover it now and fill it later.

Letting out a tired sigh, Wei uses a chair as a makeshift walker and shuffles over to the hole and pushes a few of his big herb pots to block off the hole. Shuffling back to the table and placing the lit candle on the seat, Wei shuffles towards the kitchen, "[Lady Wynna?] It is very late, it is best if I take you home so you can rest. Staying up this late builds up heat and that is not good for the body. You do not want to drink the tea, do you?"

Wynna smiles, "You need to rest more than I, besides, I can handle myself." She nods towards the morning star by the door, "I will have a cup of tea before I go, that would be lovely." After tea and absolutely ensuring Wei was going to be fine for the night, she shoulders the morning star, and bids him good night. Day 1, hour 4 "The Gift"
Waking to the sound of rain pattering against the one window, Wei Ren finds himself undisturbed through the night [heal 1]. With a few hours before the usual morning workers get going, he has a few hours to ready himself for his day. There is a right spring to Wei's step. Day 1, hour 6Well even before Rei is ready to receive people, he has a knock on his door. Outside is a worker, a mason by his apron and the dust caked to his pants. His right arm is held in a simple sling, and he looks pretty rough, like something collapsed around him. He manages a smile, "I... I hear you can fix broken bones, for, uh, cheap, right?" As the hours pass, it appears he's not the only one. More workers arrive: masons, carpenters, even few painters and tilers arrive with sprained joints and fractured bones. From the chatter of those waiting to be seen, Ren is able to discern all of them have suffered construction accidents, and not all from the same site either. The name Anjali is causally dropped, and it seems a few of them have met the same woman, who mentioned Wei! [If Wei asks, it appears Anjali lost her job (from the few that knew her), and she was picked up by a guild responsible for urban development.] At the most, he has two to four individuals at any given time, all the way through to midday when it finally starts to peter out. [While certainly bizarre, Wei Ren receives 18g as payment. He can inquire as he pleases in those 6 hours.]
