Zan was pretty sure he hadn't stopped moving since they'd arrived. He'd fought crazed animals, investigated the sleepy nearby town, questioned teenage cultists, and helped to bring a decent number of transformed Chosen to safety. He was tired, but he didn't want to stop, feeling less directionless and scattered than he had in weeks. Luckily, people were needed to watch the captive, bestial Chosen who'd been brought back to camp, and so, swaying on his feet, he'd volunteered.
Currently, he was sitting near some of the open makeshift cages, jabbing at an adorable pale gray bunny with his dagger. It dodged his attacks easily, darting left and right in a coordinated little dance. They were sparring, but it looked an awful lot like he was trying to stab her, especially when he actually did. The rabbit bounced back with a disappointed yip, rubbing at her chest where he'd nicked it.
"HA! Gotcha! That was still great though, Patty. Those little legs are good for something."
The animal huffed, gesturing at a scrawl in the mud:
A M B E R
"Right, yeah. Amber. You look more like a Patty. Anyone ever tell you that?"

Character Name:Zan Gethin Brief description of character: Friendly, perceptive, phony. Zan has wholeheartedly embraced the more mundane aspects of his new life at the Prytaneum—such as regular meals, his stipend, and the gym—but his inability to stick with any one thing for long has left him struggling to pin down how he might best serve his god long term.
"That seems an unconventional friendship," Rose commented mildly after the other's comment, a faint smile on her lips. She had admittedly frozen when she saw the young man jabbing a dagger at a caged Chosen, and had next to no idea how to react. She'd spent so much time endangering herself and her 'king' to save these cursed individuals that the idea of them dying due to a careless gesture was almost more than she could process. And rather than try to make sense of it, she decided she'd instead, perhaps, divert the man's attention.
Stepping in, she turned her blue eyes to the rabbit to make sure it wasn't going to keel over or require stitches, before flitting her gaze to the man in question. "I'm Rose," she introduced herself as she turned and walked along the cages, looking over the unfamiliar Chosen -- and checking on the ones she herself had helped retrieve. "Taking a break from work or...?" She tilted her head towards him, in askance if he was actually holding a shift or if he just enjoyed poking at hapless caged creatures.

His spine went straight and he looked up at Rose a little guiltily as he lowered his knife and smiled. Amber raised a paw and peered at the new Chosen as well, her wound seemingly forgotten.
"She was bored, I was bored. And I'm still watching the others, just... less intently than I might be supposed to." He stood, brushing dust off of the back of his pants as he fell into step a distance behind her. "Don't let a little rabbit sparring ruin our introductions, Rose," he continued, his smile still thoroughly intact. He wasn't a fan of making poor first impressions, and if Amber had cost him this one, they were going to have words once she regained the ability to speak.
"I'm Zan and it's very lovely to meet you." It was. He hadn't come across a person at the Prytaneum it hadn't been lovely to meet.

She glanced beyond Zan to the rabbit, then back to the young man, offering a small, polite smile. "Perhaps, if you want to spar next time, give her a bigger cage? You'd be surprised how hard they can kick."
Appraising him for a moment longer, she finally extended a hand to him. "You've a nice way with words, Zan, I can appreciate that." And, deciding to believe what he had said about sparring with the rabbit, Rose's posture relaxed a little more, her eyes a touch friendlier, even if still a touch reserved for reasons that had nothing to do with him. "Lovely to meet you. As it were." A hand motioned to the caged Chosen, indicating the circumstances that were less than favorable.
"It's nice to see them peaceful and with mind enough to spar," she again glanced to the rabbit, nodding her head in respectful acknowledgment. "Just a shame we've no solid rooms to let them relax in." Rose took a few languid, slow steps along the cages, stopping before a bear and smiling at the beast with a mix of apology and warmth. "Hopefully there'll be a cure sooner than later." There had to be. She'd accept no less.
