Her mother pressured her into the stage life and fame until she went to visit her father in Slateport City. Her parents were separated, her father taking his studies and research in pokemon breeding and genetics more seriously than his own family. When Olivia went and visited him, she could see why he was so interested and fascinated in the topic. She actually asked him to teach her and she fell in love with research.
After returning home from Slateport, she confronted her mother and quit coordinating at the age of 10. She was kicked out of her home and lived with a family friend in Lilycove, where she continued to pursue pokemon breeding and genetics. Once she was 15, she left out on her own to continue her research and became a very knowledgeable researcher by the age of 20. She was hired by a research team and worked in Mauville City.
Olivia studied with the team for a few years before discovering their research was funded by Team Arcana. She resigned her position after hearing the news and was a bit terrified on what they could do with in depth information on pokemon genetics. She stayed quiet for a while before visiting Starlight City, seeing a teaching position for a Pokemon breeding class was open.
