Tsuki had been quiet for a great deal of... well, everything. She was more focused on keeping calm and not messing up that she hadn't said a word, other than the "yes, General!" that was required of her.
When they eventually came to a standstill, she lined up just as she was told and was preparing to call out a number when the b'alam next to her called out his name instead. Glancing at him uncertainly before she focused her eyes forward, she called out the next answer.
"Tsuki here, General!" She reported and suspected that now that two had followed a naming pattern that the others in line would follow their example. Her tail flicked the tah beside her and she gave him a brief smile. She had his back. They were in the same unit after all.

He walked before them pacing as they sounded off. "You" He called out his tail pointing at Chenglei. He had not yet to bother to use the blue Tah's name as the other had yet to learn Smaug's respect.
"Tell me what was the purpose that i put you through this exercise of finding a cave together?" His fire orange orbs glanced in the other's direction before falling upon the rest of his unit waiting for the Tah's answer.

Chenglei internally let out a small sigh of relief. He hated being the first at things like this. It put the attention on him and Chenglei preferred the shadows, or so he'd discovered...
He offered a faint crack of a smile and a subtle nod to the Nan that joined him, thankful that he wasn't alone in the efforts at least. That is, until the General laid all purpose and focus on him to answer the question. Awesome...
He rolled his ears back slightly, trying to remember what it was the General had said before he sent them off. "Sir, we are one B'alam. We eat together, sleep together and breath together. If one of us fails then we all fail, Sir!" he rolled off and flicked his tail, being pretty sure he nailed that bit. "Finding the cave together helps us unify into one, learning our strengths and our faults and forces us to mold into that one entity, Sir!"

Weather he was satisfied with the Tah's answer he did not show it for the helm that covered his face wouldn't allow it. No he had to show no emotion at this time. It was good that the other had remembered his words at the beginning of this all, but there was another meaning behind it.
He swung his tail around now this time pointing at the blue Nan that had spoken second. "And what do you think? What was the reason that I had sent you on this journey?" He inquired of her.

When the Tah, Chenglei, had been called upon beside her, she couldn't help, but feel relieved. Yet this relief was short-lived when he answered and Smaug turned to her. She stared at her General for all of five seconds before she answered after gulping down her anxiety.
"I believe it was to prepare us, Sir. The journey here was not an easy one and in war, nothing comes easily. This journey was to show us what we may have to face in the future." She replied, hoping that was enough to satisfy her General. She would loathe to let him down.

Chenglei sighed quietly and frowned a bit. He was pretty sure that General Smaug didn't like his answer based on how he turned to the Nan beside him and asked her of her opinion.
He bit his tongue from grumbling in his own disapproval and flicked an ear to the Nan's response. He felt it was just as an acceptable answer as his own. Though idle curiosity had him wondering just what the General would think.

Claws clicked as his paws continued to pace back and forth in front of his troops. Finally his paws stopped and he turned to address the whole troop. "True to both of these answers, however the most important aspect has been missed. Trust." He began his little speech. "If you cannot trust your unit members here then you will not be able to trust them upon the battlefield. Each of you will have your weaknesses but those weaknesses will be covered by your fellow unit members. However if you do not trust your fellow members upon the battlefield to cover those weaknesses in a moment of hesitation that will cost you your life."
There was a slight pause letting his words sink into his troops minds before he continued. "Like the Tah said," still not addressing his troop by name, "You will become one along this journey, but not without the trust of your fellow Unit. Trust will be the heart of everything. If one fails we all fail." Smaug had included himself trying to show that he too was also a part of his speech. That and pretty much his troop represented himself and he was prideful. He would not let them fail as failing would represent himself failing.
"As the Nan said, this journey will be long. We will face many challenges but in the end when it all comes down to a single moment mattering we will prevail together!" his voice boomed with confidence with his final sentence. He believed in them to become the best.
With his speech over his eyes narrowed hoping it inspired them to work hard in their training exercises. "Now I want everyone to each find a bolder as large as yourself and bring it to our training area. How you bring it is up to you, however you have until the sun hits the horizon. Though if one member is late you are all late. Keep that in mind, our training will officially begin at dawn. Now move out!"
He would not tell them what the bolder was for, as for they would soon find out at dawn.

Trust. Adroushan didn't dare move under the scalding eye of his general, so he had to suppress a shudder at the incredulity of his words. Trust, now? Trust these utter strangers? Trust in b'alam he'd known not all all, united in nothing more than the...the crisis that had befallen their kingdom? The very idea sounded ludicrous.
Sure, things had been bad before. Without their Magi. Sure it...sometimes felt like the Weaver had turned from them. Everyone who stood here, however, had seen what their purported savior had done to those who stood against him. Blindings! Cripplings! And they had stood and watched it, complicit in 'the greater good'!
They all had. Of course, that meant him, too. Would he trust himself? Adroushan bit his tongue against a sigh. He really couldn't be sure.
The general was certainly sure, though. Having seen what he was capable of, Drou would never consider standing against him. But being here - "learning to fight as one" and "trust" complete and total strangers - following him. That was something the clear-eyed tah could never have seen himself doing. He was in it now though, up to the horns. Unless he wanted to become like the ones driven out, there was no going back.
At least they didn't have to kill anyone yet. All they had to do so far was stonework; maybe the armored tah didn't have faith in them just yet. Just as well, at least as far as Drou was concerned. The moment he was dismissed, the tah began the hunt for a rock of the appropriate size.

Chenglei perked a bit. So his answer was acceptable? He felt a small bit of pride, but listened carefully as the General added a thing the missed...
Trust...
So that was the magical ingredient they needed? Easier said than done in some cases. There were a few of the Nans and Tahs in their group that seemed to make that just a bit difficult to achieve, but he at least saw and understood the merit behind Smaug's words.
At the dismissal, Chenglei felt himself turn and start off in a direction. He'd scouted the area before and knew where a few of these rocks were. There wouldn't be enough there for all of them... He decided to give a silent look to all of them before trotting off with sure paws to the place.
