Emeline's eyes grew wide as the voice of a man came through to the girls from outside of the carriage. She was silent, in shock, while the things around them began to unfold. Chaos seemed to ensue almost as soon as the large man appeared, and one man was quickly cut down before the two girls could quite comprehend what was happening. Em gasped, hiding her face in Rosie, trying to push down the feeling of nausea rising in her throat. After a moment, the princess turned to give Em as reassuring of a smile as she could. The blonde nodded silently, still trying to keep herself from being sick inside of the carriage, leaning into Rosie's attempt at comfort. The handmaiden was sure that her face looked ghostly, as she could feel the cold in her cheeks and the clamminess of her hands.
The carriage began to move, but was quickly shot down by something, shattering at the base and causing it to tip onto it's side. Em let out a fragile yelp as they all went down, Rosie hurrying to try and catch herself, and Em promptly landing on top of her. For a moment she struggled to get her bearings and it took her a few shakes to realize that Rosie was trying to get her attention. She looked up at the other girl, giving her a very weak smile to show that she was alright, though her insides were still churning. She could barely hear what was happening outside, as she was too focused on what was happening inside of the carriage. Emma looked at Rosie when the other girl asked for a boost, and quickly nodded, helping as best she could, though she was quite shaky -- and didn't have much strength to begin with. However, the girl took a deep breath and tried to steady herself, not wanting to drop the princess.
After a moment, Rosie asked for her to help her up even a bit higher, and the other girl began to try and pull herself up and out of the carriage interior. Em's eyes grew wide. "What are you doing?" She practically hissed at first, terrified of going out into whatever madness was taking place. However, she took the girl's hands when she reached in to pull the blonde up as well, nodding hesitantly at Rosina's plan. She had to trust that they would be alright. In any case, it had to be better than sitting around here like sheep to the slaughter. Em tried to help her lady get her out of the carriage as best she could, attempting to push herself with her feet along the way, but there wasn't much to push off of. Finally, the two had managed to get Em out so that she could join the raven-haired girl atop the side of the fallen carriage... Just in time to see Jurax fall to his knees.
The blonde let out a tiny gasp, clasping her hands to her mouth as the assailant came into view, just beyond where the guard had been standing. He looked quite frightening, and Em wasted no time at all letting Rosie lower her to the ground, following after as quickly as she could. A moment of panic sent the handmaiden's chest feeling as though it might burst with fright as an arrow struck Rosie's dress during her drop from the structure. However, Rosie quickly took care of the situation and joined Emma on the ground, relief washing over the blonde.
Then, they ran. As hard and as fast as they could, hand in hand. It was so dark the girls could barely see where they were going. Away. Away was all that mattered. Getting away from this mess. They bumped and wobbled as they went, scraping themselves on trees and dresses catching on branches on the forest floor, but they held onto each other tightly, each of them more determined than ever not to let go of the other.
Suddenly, the ground was out from under her, before she slammed into it again hard. The two had fallen in the dark brush, miss-stepping on a slope and crashing down it. The wind was knocked out of Emma momentarily, and the shoulder she had landed on was in pain. It seemed as though they might fall forever, and terror rose all the more in the blonde. Finally, the falling stopped, and the handmaiden's breath returned to her. The girls gasped for air together and Rosie suddenly began pushing leaves over Em, hushing the girl and trying to calm her. Rosie covered herself then, and tried to quiet her breathing as best she could, Emma following suit, but reaching through the leaves for the hand that didn't hold the arrow, gripping it tightly under their blanket of leaves.
For a few moments, Emeline could hear nothing, and she began to let herself relax ever so slightly. Had they managed to escape? Were they hidden well enough? Had their tumble down the hill caused them to outrun their attackers enough to stay out of the path they might be searching?
The feeling of relief was short-lived, however. Almost as soon as Emma had decided that the men were not coming this way, she heard the crunch of leaves. The steps were heavy -- someone large. The nausea rose in her throat again, and she tried her best to keep from shaking under the leaves that were hiding them. She couldn't see anything, but Em could feel the presence of someone looming near them. Suddenly, there was movement, and the handmaiden felt a sharp pain at the back of her head as she was dragged up from the ground by her hair. She let out a cry of anguish as the large and terrifying man before her screeched out to his companions. She struggled instinctively, but every move felt like it was tearing the strands of hair from her scalp, and she yelped again, this time sounding much weaker and more pathetic. As she was held there, face to face with the beast, she practically willed Rosie to stay unmoving and hidden, in the hopes that the man hadn't noticed her friend under the leaves as well. Perhaps Rosie could still get away. Wait until Em had been taken off and race back to Theodell. Safe.

♔ █ In the dark of the wood, caught. ♔ █ Em, and hideous creatures.
I ᶜᵃᶰ ᵒᶰˡʸ ᵖʳᵃʸ ᵗᵒ ᵗʰᵉ ᵍᵒᵈˢ˒ ᶰᵉʷ ᵃᶰᵈ ᵒˡᵈˑ▬ let me forget. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The grit going to her teeth, she felt she would surely breakdown. The feel of Em's hand squeezing hers, however, relaxed most definitely both the traumatized girls. Rosina kept her eyes closed, breath shallow, trying not to let the night fall on her and fear take over. Her friend was depending on her, her family would be in grief if something happened to her. No, she would not, could not, allow that to happen. She had to make it Hafaleil, safe and untouched, and unbothered by bloodshed, terror. Rosina calmly took in small breathes, hardening herself, willing herself to be strong, beg night to hurry its phase and give them daylight. They could find people to help them, surely they were still in ally territory. Her thoughts were interrupted by the crashing wave of feet kicking up the forest floor. It sounded like a bear, a large creature - - it had tracked them down! Rosina eyes squeezed tight begging for it not to find them, but this was no creature of the forest, or one of the men that attacked, if possible, even a dreamlike wish, she hoped it was just a deer, something sweet.
The sound of Emeline's shriek made her gut turn into the size of a pea, the girl's supporting hand being ripped from her own. It was not sweet. Rosina didn't hesitate rolling to her feet in a manner of seconds, her hand out to take her own, but seeing the grotesque features of the man, large and unchallenged by a small lady such as herself. Her eyes were so wide, pained and spiraling to the sting held in Emeline's face. The sound that followed next with deathly grim and loud, he was calling to the others? How on earth was he able to find them!? She had doomed them, Rosina and her friend were going to meet their end.
No! This could not happen to them. She wouldn't allow it.
Rosina's shoulders rolled back defensively as she held the arrow's shiny tip up to the brute. At first, her voice shook with a raw emotion fearing the worst for Emeline, but finding her nerve, she found the voice of malice with the elegance of a queen. "Release... her, release her now or you are going to find this deep in your skull." Lightning shot to her nerves, her eyes felt like they were going to start a flame staring at the the man who took no folly to her threat. And why would he? The arrow shook, being held so hard in her grip, the resolve in her eye unsure. Could she do such a terrible thing? She could. For Em. To get home safe, she could. She had to.
In her eyes at the moment, he was not any part human to her vision, he was a beast, her friend caught in his terrifying jaw. The arrow was held near the side of her head, shaking with ready alertness as she took a quick step towards the unkind creature and threatened to stab. "Release her!" The sound of others approaching, the look of victory on the brutish creature's face, she slowly looked to Emeline, her eyes weakened at once. No, absolutely not. Rosina shook her head, tears brimming up. In a hoarse whisper, Rosina could not suffer through this alone, to have her in their mistreating hands alone. "I can't.. I cannot leave you." Sniffling, Rosina pressed her palm hard on her quivering lips, feeling defeated and faint of heart.
Weakness settled in, and with a slip of her fingers, the arrow fell from her hand as her palm shot to her stomach pinching at her the waves of regret, the calm of safety taken so quickly from her piled up on her. As quiet sobs came over the cornered woman, the other men surrounded them in mere seconds. The men that had taken the lives of good Theodell men, friends. Rosina stared blurry eyed into the decaying sheet of leaves. Tears slipped from her eyes. She would not return, she knew that. The lives that were taken tonight seemed to pres into her like a force to be not it be in vain and picking up her head, she looked to Emeline with great regret. Gripping into the leaves by her side, she tried to compose herself as someone approached her. What was going to happen to them? Softening her face, she met eyes with the man that she had seen strike down Jurax. This was their leader.
Her heart was wavering in all directions, but all she could think of was being in Leo's strong embrace that screamed agony of a poor decision back at her now. Leo, I'm sorry. She should have ran away with him. Far away.

The innkeep was a loose lipped one, but his daughter was better with her mouth. She knew what to do with it. Drunk and sucking mouths with a fair woman in the corner sharing the atmosphere with a rowdy bunch of better drunks, for Marciano this was a typical night. He slipped his mouth from hers giving her a glorious grin before raising a wobbly hand up and spinning about. "I'll buy the next round, gents! On me, on behalf of... your half!" He wasn't making sense, but what alcoholic did? The hollering of free drink never running empty filled their eyes and the beer floated in their guts.
Ah, he loved the fun, but as he picked up the lass and getting her on his shoulder, though almost stumbling backwards, he remembered the real reason why he was so close to Vitality. A mission of the most royal importance: to find the missing Faledrake maid. It didn't mean he could not have his fill of a fun trip while doing it! He had a reputation to keep after all. He was close was what he hoped, the more North you went, the more cold you got, and Marciano wasn't into freezing his balls off.
Before he could even make it to the stairs, he slapped the woman's heavyset bottom before he was grabbed by the arm by a rather large specimen. "Just because you rich, don't mean you can take whatever's you please, silly man."
Marciano held up a wobbly finger before the man, eyes dancing to focus. "S - Shh. Stupid people - shouldn't talk. Why don't you grab a beer. On me." Smiling like a charming churning log in the river, the man didn't like his authority and sent a flying fist straight to his grin.
"Ooop!" Marciano sailed his head to the left, "are you trying to start a brawl?" The large men, pumped of beer and anger shot his fists once more. Another miss. "At least let me put this sweet thing down."
Letting out a jaw dropping frustrated song, he pushed out at Marciano like a wild bull. Ten times ugly. Marciano spun on his heel trying his best not to laugh, but the woman on his shoulder was not pleased kicking to be put down. He did so and put his hands up, this was not a battle and he usually didn't like to fight pointless battles. Especially ones with no constellation prize.
Furrowing his bushy brows in sadness, he clicked his tongue at the charging man that had fallen over a table and disturbed someone's toasty meal. "You scared her away." The man got up from the collapsed table wearing the man's dinner on his head. Marciano snorted before catching himself and holding out his hand in defense. "I apologize, but you should stop while ...," before Marciano could finish, the man bull-rushed again this time getting his hands on him sending him into the tavern's thick wooden bar.
People jumped out of the way, but now fighting was now running wild and the man that had attacked him was in a three-way fist fight. Nothing to do now than enjoy the fun!
It lasted a good while, but men were knocked out over chairs, some black and blue, but as for Marciano he had made his mark on once again another defenseless tavern. Waking up after an hour of fun, he rose up, kissed the shoulder of the beautiful lass and left it as just another mile on his road of life.
In the brisk air of morning, he took a horse and took off towards the North, his eyes on the sky, an ear to the crowd. At least he had learned something from staying in that madhouse, someone had spotted a dragon. Where there was a dragon, there was a fair, pretty Faledrake.

════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ Ravage Raine moved down the mountain with his own cautious grace while his men plummeted towards Korus and the girls like an avalanche, kicking the loose leaves and dirt with them. Dawn would come in an hour and Ravage needed to be quick about the circumstance. Ravage's men surrounded the Princess and what he assumed to be her handmaiden like a pack of ravenous wolves. But, they would not make any sudden action. Not without Ravage's permission. Their eyes were filled with fire as they watched them. Korus could not choose what he should do with the girls, especially the one in his hand. Looking around, it seemed like he had all the attention, which riled him up even more, tightening his grip on the puny blonde girl and holding her up even higher for all his comrades to see. The group of bandits began hooting at him, a horrible hoorah for the fruit of his hunt as well as a hunger for some of the spoils. The men started getting closer in towards the girls, poking and prodding at their skirts. This did not please Ravage. Reaching the bottom of the hill, Ravage gave a great shout that silenced them all. " STAND DOWN, FOOLS!" Almost immediately, his men, like guilty dogs, backed away from their prey with their heads down and fear of punishment in their eyes. Even Korus loosed his grip on the girl and joined his brethren. They still surrounded the princess though, making sure that they would not escape during the berating, but making room for Ravage to enter the circle. Finally, Ravage was able to address the Princess personally. " Finally. It is a great pleasure of mine to make your acquaintance, my lady." The tone of his voice changed, different from when he addresses his men. Ravage was still as gruff as he looked, even with his gentleman voice being put on, the authority boomed in his speech. The poison in his voice was radical and lurked behind his words. " Now, I know you're used to high brow company, compared to us dirty old men we must pale in comparison. But please don't let our low class demeanors fool you, we are a great company." The bandits laughed menacingly, but halted when Ravage shot them a rage-filled look. He turned back to the ladies with a smile. " I'd like to assume that you are aware of the reason of our presence. You fought hard to escape us and I don't depreciate your efforts. But unfortunately for you, our Korus is quite the hound." Korus bowed his head in embarrassment and pride as he was complimented by his leader. Ravage brought out his dagger, the same one that killed the Princess' main guard, and brandished it in front of them. His men became excited and a few hoots let out before they silenced again, trying to anticipate what the ladies' blood tastes like. " I'd love to know what you are thinking before I finish my job." OOC --> I'm so sorryyyy!!! I've been so busy, especially during the holidays... I hope ya'll can forgive meeee... I'm back nowww

Emeline watched, her heart sinking so low in her chest that it almost felt as though it were in her stomach instead. She was both terrified and grateful that Rosie did not take the opportunity to run, but instead stood against the beast that held the blonde in it's clutches. She wanted her dear friend to be safe, but she would not lie and say that she was not, to some degree, relieved that the girl felt so deeply for her that she would rather fight a monster than leave Em to fend for herself with these terrors. The girls locked eyes, then, as the other men closed in around them, and Rosie sunk to the earthen floor, clearly unable to keep the nerve she had held towards the brute now that they were surrounded by many.
Emeline clenched her eyes shut in fear. No matter what happened, they were still together. They would get through this side by side, though Emeline was not sure they would ever find their way home when it was over. No, they would only suffer in each others company, just as they had everything they had suffered through before.
Suddenly, the brute yanked upward on the poor handmaiden and her hair, causing Em to shriek out in pain and fear once again. A few stray tears rolled down her cheeks this time. It felt as though her hair was going to be ripped right out of her head. The girl began to grasp at the man's arm again, doing her best to relieve some of the tension that pulled at her scalp. The crude men all around them were shouting and hollering, prodding at the girls and spouting obscenities. More tears fell on Em's face, and she didn't dare look down at the Lady Rosina, for fear that she would see her own pale, terrified face reflected back at her. Then, the man that had killed the captain of the guard appeared before them, ordering the men to stand down. And with that, just as quickly as the blonde was scooped up from the dirt, she was dropped back down into it. She held her hands out before her to try and break her fall a bit, scraping her hands on stray branches and stones in the ground.
Immediately, ignoring the state of herself and the throbbing of her head and neck, the handmaiden scooted sideways, throwing her arms around Rosie's neck for comfort. "Thank you. You are very brave." She whispered into her Lady's ear, trying to show how grateful she was that the raven-haired girl had shown such determination to protect her handmaiden, despite the dire circumstances. She looked up then, as the "leader" of this gang of wild-men began to speak, addressing Rosina. Em cringed at his words. Everything sounded brutal and crude coming from these uncivilized beasts.
As he finished his speech, he drew out a dagger -- the same one he had murdered their Jurax with in cold blood. He held it out as though it were a token of victory before them, rubbing their loss in their faces and salting the wound. Emeline felt her body go cold as he spoke his last phrase. ... before I finish my job... It really struck the handmaiden, then. Although she had known it somewhere in the back of her mind, she had refused to think the words. They were going to die. That was all there was to it. The men hooted again, and she knew that they were hungry for more blood, eager to get their task done. Rosina would never see her Leo again. Emma would never see the Lord's cousin Denry again. They were going to die.

I ᶜᵃᶰ ᵒᶰˡʸ ᵖʳᵃʸ ᵗᵒ ᵗʰᵉ ᵍᵒᵈˢ˒ ᶰᵉʷ ᵃᶰᵈ ᵒˡᵈˑ▬ let me forget. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ They surrounded them like a pack of inhuman lunatics, all looked rough and the next in her sights more frightening than the last, the lust and glee of finding them in their animal dark eyes made her jump away as they started to crowd. Touching, saying things her ears had never heard - disgusting. Rosina could only bend away and raise her arms to protect her space, her breath scraping in and out past her teeth. Her bottom lip was shaking and she was doing her best to keep her presence free of fear. She heard Emeline scream and saw between a few necks that she was being held up like a trophy. Her eyes widened and jaw broke open wanting to stop him. He was hurting her.
Beyond the crowding dirty faces and her spine went solid, the tears pulling themselves back in her eyes. "Stop, stop!" She mumbled over and over slapping a hand that touched at her skirt, but with the brazen command of their leader, they all fell away from her and Emeline giving her a chance to look at her condition as she fell from the beast's hand. A rush of relieved air ran out of her as she held open her arms for Emeline to rush into. The fear shaking in her friend's arms as they tied around her neck like a noose made her regret bringing her out here by her request. She should have been facing this alone. At once, Rosina's hand ran to rub at the girl's scalp and sooth whatever pain that brute had done. Of couse, she would stay for Em. Rosina held her tighter as Emeline's words ran to her ear. She did not feel brave. She quietly hushed her friend, though her words made her find her solid center. Raising her head, she held her chin high and her dignity, the leader spoke out to her. Great pleasure. Acquaintance. He could snap at any moment behind his "polite" speak. So that beast had a name.
Rosina head slowly looked at the face, the reason of their suffering, the man that had killed Jurax. Her eyes studied his own, and to what was behind that fox like smile. The situation was too dire, but perhaps she could talk their way out. Rosina listened to every word, she possibly had to find some way to win their favor. Figure out if there was any way to pay them more than the one that had called out to them to do this. They didn't have the elegance of mercenaries. What realm would want her dead? To call on bandits, they must have wanted it to appear as accidental as possible. Rosina's lips moved to a hollow space. About to speak, but clipped off when the swine raised up the slightly stained dagger. The soul of her eyes stared at that dagger with a silent anger and silent prayer that Jurax would be with his friends of battles lost.
Rosina had to speak now, before they made her speak. Swallowing a knot in her throat, she looked about the group. Pursing her lips, she pinned up her shoulders as if she was going to be reprimanded by her speech. "If you do want to know," she started, "I'd say that you planned this all quite daringly. I'm sure you... are good company indeed, but money talked you into this, and I hope it will bring you out of finishing your job. My father is ... as you know," she didn't need to pull out titles to make them angry. Without castle or army, they were the same out here in the wild. "I'm sure he would pay you far more than who sent you. Undoubtedly." She smiled weakly, hopeful, but her eyes were ready to take off into tears, a sheen of plead over her brown orbs. Her hand pulled Emeline even deeper into the safety of her chest, one she hoped she could provide for a little longer. Rosina kept her eyes on the man that had the say so of their lives. "So please, don't do this." She held her tears back begging for her life, but she bowed her head and pressed her chin to the top of Emeline's head. "If... If there is one thing I can ask for, can you please let my handmaiden go. She is innocent in all of this." If Rosina could at least protect her friend, at least her death would mean something.
To lie down and take death, she was bringing shame upon her family name, but what was there for her to do. "I'd also like to know who you are." She stroked Emeline's head as she raised her chin once more. Though they were on switched positions, her kneeling to a bandit, Rosina was doing her best to keep her pride of Raorenson.

════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ Ravage tipped the edge of his dagger downward. Impressed by the Lady's resolve, he decided to speak to her further. This whole situation was a newly discovered experience for Ravage and decided to prolong the time before their assassination. This was the first where one of his targets was a young woman. In bleak recollection, visions of frilly men in fancy velvet capes, striped tunics and soiled trousers plead tearily, reminding him of how weak and vulnerable people were no matter how much money and political power that they have acquired throughout their vain lives. They all lacked all vital traits of survivability, or rather a pair of necessities in between their legs. This girl in front of him has neither and yet already displayed more than most of men, even if it is a small brave demeanor in the midst of her quivering fear. But how long will her backbone endure, he wondered. " Me? Oh it's surely not important to you now, but I will say it anyway. Ravage is my name. These are the Brothers of Vitality." Ravage did not fear knowledge him or his reputation. People knew of the group and their acts but the group was never traceable, Ravage made sure of that. Hordes of soldiers once chased them into the woods after news of one of their deals gone awry - it was one of Ravage's most difficult and most creative attempts at escape. Even the unassuming fellow that stumbles across their party in the forest would not think anything of them other than a traveling band of mercenaries. Ravage had preparations for everything and therefore had nothing to worry about. Yet, the lady's words bothered him. The thought of getting mixed up in high Theodell-Miasmadorian politics scratched at his ego. This client had found them out of nowhere. It made him contemplate this whole transaction. But, first he should finish the thing first before he's too caught up in thinking too much. Thinking and prying too much can get you killed. " It is true, I am very fond of money, but even I become very displeased when contracts become too... complicated. So, I'd rather not let your friend live," he explained. "For all I know, she could run to the nearest army and order to kill all of us! Now, I'd rather not have that." Dawn was to rise soon. The sky was brightening already. No more toying around now. Ravage shifted his dagger back and forth, slightly swaying with it in preparation for their swift deaths. He would kill the Princess first, then the maiden.

♔ █ In the dark of the wood, caught. ♔ █ Em, and hideous creatures.
I ᶜᵃᶰ ᵒᶰˡʸ ᵖʳᵃʸ ᵗᵒ ᵗʰᵉ ᵍᵒᵈˢ˒ ᶰᵉʷ ᵃᶰᵈ ᵒˡᵈˑ▬ let me forget. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Once, maybe in the winter time, this name of bandits, Brothers of Vitality, it sounded familiar. Perhaps it was Leo that had recalled upon it with Hadrian. Despite even a little spare of knowledge, what they were after was pride of a hunt. The way they moved, the way they functioned as a wolf pack, something was slowly ticking in her head. A plan, a hope. These were not ordinary bandits. Trying to not pay too much attention to his blade absorbed with waving through the air that could slit her to pieces or how he threatened her friend's life, Rosina pinched Emeline's shoulders before rising up and daringly pushing her resolve into his watching, calculating eyes. Rosina looked around her. "The way I see this...," she started and smiling slight as she spoke, she gestured to his lot trying not to shake before them, "you are men that care more about the hunting game and have raw skill for it." Carefully she spoke to them, on equal ground. Rosina tried her best to see them all as a counsel she could sway, not a group of hungry animals for the kill.
Feeling Emeline's eyes on her, probably begging her to not make them ill mind, Rosina continued when she was given permission or no command to stop. Her lips opened from their tight seem. "I have begged you for my life as a woman in danger, and you are unswayed, than perhaps we can make another exchange." Her hand gestured up, palm slightly shaking as she hoped he would not lash out in anger, though he seemed composed, this man known as Ravage, a hair splitting name if his appearance wasn't enough. Rosina looked around the wood, it was dark and dangerous, but she had all experienced such dread before, and she could face it again. Rosina lowered her hand as it went to her side, balled up so tight having a calm face but a rattled up cage of a heart, what she was going to ask could cost her everything, but it wasn't going to change their predicament no how. "If I can bring you back a game kill, with my own hands, would you let us keep our lives?" The men were already laughing at her, and Rosina tried not her embarrassment flush her cheeks, or they would if her blood wasn't running cold. "If I can do this, ... Sir Ravage, if you would give me your word, I would also give you mine that I would change the story and bring you no redemption or hatred in return."
If he would ask if she had ever hunted anything, a quiet and rather humorous noted 'No' would be gently muttered to the question. "But I can only do my best."
Rosina kept quiet, wanting for his answer, whether it be just laughter and stabbed her where she stood, but she could only beg the gods to favor her. The darkness was leaving them and around her, she could notice more features of the men around as the sun was welcoming this day, a day she died or a day she lived.
