RAIN! Clover Hated the Rain! It was the fifth day of non-stop rain and it was starting to get to her. She didn't mind it the fact that the crops got watered, and it made everything fresher, she didn't even mind the mud that much. It was just weather that didn't give much opportunity to go outside to just be outside, yeah there was spells and other things to keep the water from getting on you but that didn't mean anything to her. She used class and homework as a means to keep her from thinking about the rain too much but to say that her mood was starting to be affected was an understatement. However it was now Saturday and for once she was actually ahead on all her homework.
She was walking into the Great Hall for lunch when she heard it. The sound that sent a chill to her vary core, thunder. She looked up at the enchanted sky of the Great Hall. "Please, be far please be far... she muttered waiting for the flash so she could count till the thunder roll, but the chatter resuming hit her ears first. Her eyes fell and she looked at the five tables. "I'm one of the toughest Hufflepuffs at the school," her eyes went back up to the enchanted sky, "If anyone finds out that I'm scared of lighting, No wizard would let me live it down." She winced and let out a small squeak when she saw the streak across the sky. And took a step backwards, the thunder clap happened before she even got to five. That meant it was with a mile, even though no one was looking at her and happily going about their own business. She felt like everyone was staring and judging her.
She fled from the great hall running into to someone without knowing it, dropping something that she didn't even stop to pick up. She had to get away and she had to hide. Going into the first empty room she could get into. The class room was dark and dusty, she squeaked and flinched again when another flash of lighting, lit up the sky. She crouched in a corner and put her hand on her head.

Dorian was super annoyed with the rainy weather that they had been having for the past week. It was horrible. He wished it would stop already, the outdoors was starting to look like a muddy mess. He hated mud, especially when it got on the bottom of his school robes and weighed them down. Or when it got in the crevices of his shoes, it always took him hours to clean his shoes. Cleaning his shoes was his least favorite thing to do but he had been taught to keep a clean appearance at all times.
Dorian had been sitting at a table in the Great Hall waiting for Clover to show up. He hadn't been waiting long when he noticed her come within a few feet of him staring up at the magical sky conjured above the Great Hall. He could almost make out what she was muttering but then she turned and ran out of the great hall, dropping the notebook she had been carrying.
"Clover! Wait up!" He picked up her notebook and ran after her. He stopped outside of the Great Hall and looked around. Where had she gone? He glanced around for an empty room. He figured Clover would want to find a place to hide where no one would find her. He still couldn't help but wonder what might have spooked her.
He tried several door knobs to find them locked and kept looking. Finally he found a door near the kitchens that he was able to open and found her crouched in a corner and curled up shivering.
"Clover are you okay?" He asked as he closed the door and walked over to her. He took a seat down next to her and laid a hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong?"

Clover looked up when she heard her name. It was Dorian she looked away in shame as he came over and sat next to her. There was a flash of lighting agent the wall which made her flinch. "Dorian.... it's.. .uhh... it's the lighting.... I know it's silly... but I'm scared of the lighting." she admitted, she was embarrassed to admit it but he was there as a way to show his own concern.
Her voice wasn't quite as steady is it normally was. Then again nothing was normal about her since the lighting started, just a few moments before her leaving the Great Hall. "I.... I was little when I saw Lighting hit a tree and split it... I don't even remember why I was out in the rain in the first place... I hate the rain... But lighting terrifies me.... I didn't want anyone seeing me like this.... The one tough Hufflepuff, who hangs out with Slytherins scared of Lighting?" she found tears had started down her face, which made her cures.
There was another flash and without thinking she had grabbed onto Dorian and buried her face in his chest. She didn't like herself for this simple weakness, not to mention showing it. Still Dorian was one of her closest friends he wouldn't judge her. At least she hoped not. "I can sort of function.... when it's farther away.... but it's rather close today." she added into his chest.
She would hug friends and family to greet or to comfort, never for her own fears. She wasn't one to show fear, yet here she was crying into his chest, like a frightened little school girl.

Dorian was unsure of what to do when Clover looked away from him. He had never seen her in such a state before. She had always seemed fearless and here she was cowering in a dark room. That was when a flash of lightning lit up the small room and thunder cracked and she flinched. He was rather surprised when she explained that it was the lightning that she was afraid of.
He was trying to figure out why someone would be afraid of lightning when she began to explain. After hearing it he understood her a little better.
"It's not just that it's lightning I think, it's more so the raw power behind it and the fact that it's not something you can control or stop. Nature can be a scary thing, and even wizards should learn to be cautious of it."
He turned his gaze away when he noticed tears falling down her face and tried not to notice that she cursed the fact that she was crying.
He was rather startled when she reached out and grabbed him close and buried her face into his chest. He sat there for a moment in shock with his arms out at his sides. Then he let loose a soft sigh and patted her on the back.
"I can understand that, the closer it is the worse you will react to it." He said softly and then wrapped his arms around her to give her a hug.
As he did so he couldn't help but notice the scent of her hair, it was something fruity like strawberries but with something else. He laid his cheek on the top of her head and kept her close in his arms.
The last girl he had been this close to had been his ex-girlfriend. He didn't really miss her, though he did miss having someone who would let him hold them. He rubbed Clover on the back lightly and then pulled back to glance down at her.
"How about we go get some hot chocolate and find somewhere in the castle where the lightning won't bother you."

Clover listened to Dorian, his words didn't hold any kind of judgment or mockery. They were soothing and calming like a honey. He even just let her cry into his chest. Then he did something that made her heart stop. He started to hug her back. He was trying to calm her down. But it also made her realize just how long she had cried into his chest which made her flush a little.
She wondered why she never noticed it before, after all she was a hugger, maybe it was because they times she and Dorian did hug it was short and quick and she wasn't cowering in fear. He seemed to be quite strong in this one. It was strange yet nice, Soft and strong at the same time. At some point she had stopped shaking of fear but sill didn't try to move from his comforting hold. One because she was flushed and two she would still jump and cringe a bit when there was a lighting strike.
When Dorian said they should hide somewhere from the lighting, she just sat there and let it sink in. Was there really a place The thought made her go though all the places she knew about in the school. None that would fully block out the sound or the flashes.... The dudgeons where a good place to not see the lighting but she could probably still hear it. The only place that she knew of, that was lower then that, was maybe Slyitheren. However she wouldn't be able to go down into that House, even if Dorian where to try to take her two tone hair was a give away of who she was. "Is there really a place like that in the castle?" she finally asked.
Part of her wanted to believe it but at the same time the castle wasn't the best of stopping sounds either. They could carry after all it was a school, so why wouldn't it be built to carry voices across rooms and halls? She knew of spells that could stop sound, not that she knew how to do them, and they only stopped sound from going out of an area not from going into an area. "If there is a place.... like that... Let's go find it." she said.
She was still a little weary of people seeing her in this moment of vulnerability, but Dorian wouldn't be the kind to deceive her or use this agent her. She know that and the thought about how he was still trying to make her feel better was sweat. It took some time to get her up on her feet and because she was still jumpy at any flash lighting, and she would some what hide behind him if it seemed like someone was nearby. Since they were near the kitchen it wasn't too hard to thermos of hot chocolate and a few other snacks before their search for way for her to "get away" from the lighting.
She didn't know if she was following Dorian or if he was following her, but it didn't seem all that long until they seemed to come across a small room that some what reminded her of a House Common room or an office but there was no desk. It was a cozy looking room With Dark Mahogany walls and no windows. On one wall there was a fireplace with a fire burring merrily in a small table, there was the unmistakable sound of instrumentals being played and an ornate loveseat as she walked into the room to put what she had in her hands on the table then took a seat on one side of the loveseat, there was flash and crash outside, yet inside Clover seemed not to notice. It felt like the room had been made just for them. After a few seconds in the room she realized that the loveseat was the only place to sit, well other then the floor. Shortly after this thought crossed her mind another chair that sort of matched the loveseat appeared. "Was that there a moment ago?" she asked wondering what was going on. It was almost like the room was trying to make a romantic atmosphere.
She blushed a moment as she picked up a cauldron cake and took a bite. She had to think of something to say. "Thank you, no one's ever did what you just did, for me before... I guess my hiding kind of made it hard for someone to do that.... I never realized how .... never mind it's silly" she said stuffing some more of the cauldron cake into her mouth so she wouldn't say something stupid. She did want him to put his arms around her again but she couldn't flat out say that. She looked away some with this thought coming to mind she didn't even understand why she was having such thoughts. "What are you doing? This is Dorian, he isn't the kind to... but he did say I was pretty that other day. Why does Dorian keep doing or saying things no one else has? It was so conferring when he held me.... Stop it Clover! You can't do that to yourself. He's your friend, if you start getting feelings for him, and he doesn't feel the same way...." she thought to herself she put her hands over her face to hide what ever look she had on her face.((the room of requirement seemed like the best place that could block out the light and sound)) (I would add something but nothing's coming to mind)

Dorian noticed her flushed face and frowned slightly. He couldn't help but feel concerned that she might be coming down with a cold or something worse. He laid the back of his hand across her forehead. "Are you feeling okay? You feel a bit warm to me. Maybe you should have someone check you out at the infirmary. I'd hate for you to catch a cold."
Dorian noticed that she had gone silent and wondered what she could be thinking of. By now he could recognize the look in her eyes and the wrinkles that formed on her forehead as a sign she was intently thinking about something.
He was rather amused by her question and was going to answer when she stood up and told him they should just go find it.
"Let's do that then." He amended placing a hand on her back to guide her down the hall.
She still seemed rather out of it, so he took the lead as they walked down to the kitchen first to grab some snacks and then back out down the hallway. Now that there were getting further into the school away from the windows the thunder and lightning were far off sounds.
He wasn't surprised when they happened to find the small unoccupied room. He eyed the loveseat as Clover sat down on one side. He felt like sitting close to her but he figured that might be seen as being too intrusive. When the other chair appeared out of thin air he felt relieved.
"Uh I don't think so. I believe this is the room of requirement that we've found," He commented as he pulled the chair closer to the loveseat so he could sit close to her.
The whole setting of the room with the music in the background, the faint lighting and the fireplace did give off a romantic aura, much to his amusement. It was rather fitting, he had been wanting to tell Clover something for the past few months but had never gotten up the nerve to say it. Now it seemed as though this could be the opportune moment.
He watched her as she picked up a cake and took a small tentative bite. he suddenly had the oddest feeling, was she nervous because she had the same feelings for him?
She began to talk and his eyes went back to her face as he listened. When she trailed off at the end he almost got the impression that she had stopped herself from saying that she liked his attention. He really needed to let her know how he felt. He just hoped that he hadn't read her wrong.
Dorian reached out and relieved her of the cake and then took her hands into his own.
"Clover look at me, if you feel the same way I've been feeling these last few month's it's not a bad thing at all. My father always told me that to fall in love with one's best friend was the best thing that could ever happen. Because then you'll have your best friend close to you for the rest of your life. Clover, I-I Love you/ I hope you feel the same way. Otherwise I'll feel like a major jerk for ruining a great friendship."

Clover felt a little bad for not answering Dorian's question back in that other class room, but she was cowering in fear from lighting, of curse she wasn't feeling okay, and would have been upset if he had left it at that but he didn't want her to catch a cold, but if she were about to get it, it was a simple fix after all. Just take some Pepperup Potion and it'd be gone, so there wasn't much need to worry, right?
Clover was partly comforted by how he had placed a hand on her back when they walked. It was such a simple gesture that it would have been easy to over look it. When they reached the room and he had vindicated when the chair appeared. "Well at least I'm not losing my mind." she muttered "The room of requirement." She remembered reading something about the room that would show itself when needed. A hiding place from the lighting and thunder was what she needed and it was doing a good job of that, but the romantic atmosphere who wanted that, him or her?
When he took the cauldron cake from her hand she was glad that she had some of it in her mouth as she was unprepared for what he said next. He said he loved her, he loved her? For a few moments she just looked at him like a dear in the headlights, even forgetting to chew. When she did regain her motor function she swallowed but still said nothing as now she was searching his eyes. They were in a vulnerable, honest, and yet a little fear at the moment. And the more she looked into his eyes the more her heart started to pound in her chest. She felt like her face would start to burn with how worm it had gotten. "I..." she stammered a little. "I... don't really know, what... I've been feeling recently... I mean... you've been so gallant recently. and being with you... I felt... something stirring, and wanting to be with you more.... I've never really been in love before, so I don't know if that is what it is or not.... but I would like to think that it is." she confessed. She knew this wasn't the reply he wanted, he probably wanted her say that she loved him too. But how can you say something so important when you don't even know yourself? "Though I don't think you ruined our friendship, I think I might have with not knowing why I've been thinking such things." she admitted.
She put a hand to her chest it still beating like mad, though now it ached a little as she thought she might have let him down with how she replied. Was this feeling that she been having around him recently really been love? She closed her eyes, "That can be the only answer." she said half opening them once again. "I think my feelings....that I've been having around you... really are love, which would mean I love you too." she said after having said it, it just felt right.
Clover couldn't help but think about their friendship over the years, how they met because he fell on her because of a Gryffindor spooking him. Sneaking out of the medical wing, starting Fleet Foot together. Being accused of putting a love spell on him. She then started to giggle at the thought of what O'Connoly had done. "I guess what he said finally came true." she said then looked at Dorian. "Were you able to patch things up with O'Connoly? Or is he still mad at you because of me?" she asked rubbing her neck. "He thought I gave you cooties, though I did lose my temper because he was insulting you back then." she said recalling the memory. " Or at least I thought he was insulting you." she admitted chuckling a little bit.

] He hadn't really noticed that she had avoided answering his question about her health. he had realized that she wasn't suffering from cold symptoms but from fright when she had jumped and drew closer to him when the lightning hit. That took his mind off of any physical ailments he had thought she might have. For a moment all he could think about was the feel of her hand touching him.
Since he had grown up with a mother who dealt with a lot of mental health issues, he seemed to always notice when people were off from their normal behavior. It was rather a relief to find out that Clove only had a strong aversion towards lightning and it wasn't anything worse than that.
he hadn't even thought twice about guiding her with a hand on her back to support her. She seemed to need a hand to steady her. It had also become a new habit of his after having stayed with his Grandmere over the summer break. She was starting to lose her balance and needed a hand when getting around her home. It was sad to think that she was getting older and that she might not be around much longer but he didn't want to dwell on that during the upcoming Holiday break.
He smiled slightly at Clover's mutter about not losing her mind. It was rather strange that they had just happened upon the room and for it to be so accommodating. Though the music really was starting to calm his nerves.
Dorian waited as patiently as he could after proclaiming his love to Clover. He knew it might come as a shock to her, especially if it wasn't feelings she returned.
For several moments she stared at him with her green eyes wide and shocked. Then they softened and she didn't turn her gaze away which made his chest leap with hope.
Her lovely face was starting to go a bright pink and she began ti reply, stammering as she spoke.
His heart was now hammering loudly in his chest as she paused in her confession. "Don't think that Clover, it takes time to really know one's feelings. It can take years before you truly know, at least that's what my father's told me." He told her.
He watched as she put her hand to her chest and closed her eyes. He started to reach for her other hand when her eyes flew open half way and she spoke again.
He felt like he was going to burst with joy at her words. Thes time he reached out and took both of her hands in his own and kissed her fingertips gently.
"Dearest Clover, you have made this the greatest day of my life," He said gently.
Memories of their times together flashed through his mind. He couldn't help but smile at the time when he had accused her of using a love potion on him. It had turned out to several girls in his own house that had done it to him.
Dorian couldn't help but roll his eyes at her mention of his roommate Quill. It was strange to think that Quill had been right back then about him being interested in Clover. It seemed so long ago, almost like another life.
"So it did," He agreed with a smile. "Wait until he finds out. He'll be crowing all over school about his powers of divination. Don't worry about him, we do still talk on occasion but we've moved on from being close mates. He's got a new crew he hangs out with these days.
Oh yes, so he did. He's definitely over the whole "Cooties" mindset these days. In his own way he thought it an insult, thank God we've all grown up since then." Dorian replied with a laugh of relief.
While Dorian felt as though he wanted to kiss Clover, he had the thought that she would prefer her first kiss not being in the room of Requirement, but somewhere much more special. Of course he could have asked her but decided that she would only get flustered and more pink in the face if he did.
So he stood up and retrieved Clover's cake and handed it back to her. Then he walked over to the table of refreshments and poured out some sparkling cider into two crystal champagne glasses that appeared out of nowehre. He brought them over and held one out to Clover.
"Let's toast to growing up and finding each other. I look forward to the years to come with you by my side, dearest Clover."

Clover saw Dorian become so happy that it looked like he could fly without a broom. When he grabbed her hands and kissed them, it brought a smile to her face. She chuckled a little "Yeah he may just do that, If he's not in Divination the teacher will be trying to get him to join. she chuckled a bit.
She had to admit that seeing Dorian this happy made her feel loads better and happy as well. She took the glass offered to her. "You know you don't have to call me dearest, though it is sweat of you." she said blushing a bit. "But I look forward to the years with you as well." she said tapping his glass agent his before taking a sip of the cider.
"And thank you, for helping me. Let's just hope that the lighting stops before our game against the Gryffindor next week, it would be horrible if one of the Hufflepuff Beaters was out of sorts." she chuckled.
She then got a strait face, "What do we do if it's not done before curfew?" she asked, "I guess we could stay here, being as the thunder can't get in.... I don't think we would get found out." she admitted though after she said it her face got a bit red and she felt foolish. "No that came out sounding bad didn't it?" she asked though she did kind of like the fact that they had this little hiding spot now. "I didn't mean it to make it sound like I.... I .... I'm just going to stop talking now before I make it sound even worse." she said rubbing her face a little.
She did like the fact that it was Saturday and they didn't need to be anywhere and enjoyed the rest of the day with Dorian in their little hide a way, away from the storm and the things that came with it.
