The band strikes a new tune...
Golden bangles dance around her wrists, red silk fans out across her ankles. Lips so red curl into mysterious smiles, her fingers twirling coyly through dark curls. Individuals flock toward the lovely dancer, remembering her clearly from the Moon Festival, and her tremendous performance. They beg for another display, but she dismisses every request. She's present as a guest, she says. Maybe another time.
The evening continues as one might expect; guests mingle and dance, sip their wine and nibble on refreshments. The atmosphere is merry, and festive - no one could imagine that the evening might end on anything other than a high note!
Until a sharp intake of breath and the shattering of glass slices through the air, silencing the area and capturing the attention of all. Nearly in unison, every guest pauses mid-action and turns toward the sound. They find Sharra, the dancer, standing in the middle of the room, frozen in what appears to be alarm, or fear.
She's staring into the distance, her thoughts clearly miles away. The crowd waits with bated breath, some stepping slowly forward to check on her, though they have no idea how to help. Finally, she utters two words. They may seem innocent words, but they send shivers and chills down every spine.
"They're coming..."
