STUDENT APPLICATIONS
    NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION
      General
This will be the first form you complete to register for the Academy. After this process is completed, you may begin registering for courses (the form for that is in the latter half of this post).

      Basic Requirements
Our aim is to provide roleplaying education and experience to as many prospective and continuing roleplayers as possible, so it will be rare for us to turn down a student applicant. However, to ensure smooth running of the program, we do require that a few criteria be met of our students.

          As a student, you must:
          • be on Gaia at least three times a week (you must be present to learn)
          • have the patience and enthusiasm to learn and try out new things, and the willingness to listen to advice and critique

      Application Process & Form

Enrolling in the SDRP Tutoring Academy is fast and easy. Just PM the Registrar (SDRP Registrar) with your completed application (form below) using the subject: SDRP Academy New Student Enrolment. The Registrar (SDRP Registrar) will process your application and create a transcript to hold your student record. You will get a PM reply to notify you of the completion of your registration as a student and any further instructions necessary.

Please note that your application is subject to being circulated among SDRP Tutors and Faculty.

    STUDENT COURSE REGISTRATION
Once you're registered as a student, you may submit this form to register for classes that are accepting students. More information will be available about a class closer to its registration opening day, but below is the general template that will be used. Please do not use this form. It is for reference only. The actual forms you should file to enrol in a course will be put up in individual course information threads until further notice.

TUTOR APPLICATION

What does an SDRP Academy Tutor do?
There are many people out there who are interested in RPing but don't know where to start or they feel too overwhelmed to give it a try. As a tutor, you will be there to guide them through their first steps along the path to a new and wonderful hobby. Or maybe your student already has an idea of what to do but is looking for more insight on how to do it better. Either way your role as a tutor will be to show them how to reap more success and enjoyment out of roleplaying.

More specifically, you will work with a Faculty Adviser who will in turn help you to help your students through the curriculum outlined in our Course Catalog. You will be responsible for teaching your students the topics listed in each course you teach them and answering any questions they may ask along the way. You are expected to be polite, supportive, and if you don't know an answer you should point them to someone who does. You will also be invited into our Tutoring guild which will give you access to lesson plans and teaching resources developed by the Faculty to help you out along the way.

    What We're Looking For
We want our members to have a quality experience with everything we do here and our tutoring is no exception. It's one thing to say you can teach but a very different matter to actually do it so we put our tutors to the test and make sure they have the commitment, skill, and know how to teach in a friendly, supportive, and factual manner. Here are some things we're looking for in a tutor:
      • Respect: As a tutor, you will be interacting with other people, such as your students, other tutors, and faculty. These people may not always agree with you, and it will be important for you to understand and appreciate these differences.
      • Experience: We can't accept an RP tutor who has no experience RPing. Nor can we have a tutor for GMing if they have no experience GMing. To verify your experience, we ask that you provide links to relevant samples and references, as well as info on where you RP - guilds, forums, tabletop, LARP, etc.
      • Quality: All the experience in the world won't make you a good tutor (or even player) if you're not doing it well. To verify your quality, we ask that you provide links to relevant samples and references.
      • Patience: You will be a teacher and there will be times when progress is not made as quickly as you may like. As such, it is important to maintain a cool head and to stay positive.
      • Dedication: You can't teach if you can't be reached so you need to be available for contact. To ensure smooth operation of this program, we will ask that you be active and log into Gaia to interact with your students on a regular basis, which is at least three times each week.
      • Discretion: As a tutor, you will be privy to student information so you need to be able to handle that and not disrespect anyone's privacy.

    Application Process & Form
We are not looking for additional tutors at this time, and so are not making available information on the application process and form. We will send out a guild announcement when we open up applications again!

FACULTY APPLICATION
What does the SDRP Academy Faculty do?
Because even our Tutors need help, they've got Faculty to assist them by answering questions, offering suggestions, and developing teaching resources such as lesson plans, course exams, and exercises for the tutors to use. Faculty are also in charge of managing the Tutors to be sure they are giving their students the attention and education they deserve. Faculty will also be expected to tutor students when there is a shortage of appropriate tutors.

    What We're Looking For
The SDRP Academy faculty should have a great diversity in areas of expertise covering the full breadth of RP and writing in general. In addition to teaching a variety of courses here members of the faculty are preferred to have some form of education experience in real life (tutoring, camp leader, TA, certified teacher). All of our faculty are expected to be highly qualified, experienced RPers and skilled writers. Only those with the most dedication, experience, leadership skills, and teaching success will be considered for Faculty but we're also looking for those willing and able to develop quality teaching resources.

    Application Process
We are not looking for additional faculty members at this time, and so are not making available information on the application process and form. We will send out a guild announcement when we open up applications again!
