Only because I happen to be watching Fiddler on the Roof right now…

Is anyone here a fan of musicals? If so, what are your favorites?

Oh meow, Raven hasn't seen Fiddler on the Roof in furever... hehehe it was a good Musical. Raven is not sure about his Favorites. On Basic Principle of being of the Feline Species Raven has to say one of his Favorite Musicals is CATS cat_4laugh . Furballs meow, there are dozens and dozens of musicals Raven loves, he can think of at least 20 off the top of his head. Some of his Top Favorite would have to be: Chicago, Cabaret, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Little Shop of Horrors, Rent, The Phantom of the Opera, Avenue Q, And probably Raven's absolute Favorite, one of the longest ongoing purr-formed Musicals on Broadway with the biggest Cult Following: The Rocky Horror Picture Show

I like all but 2 of those you mentioned.

My personal favorite would have to be The Scarlet Pimpernel. A delicious romantic comedy with a smattering of historical fiction, drama, and the ensuing angst. Love it. Love it, love it, love it.

If you're into gothic musicals, I recommend Bat Boy to you. Its an entire musical based off an old Weekly World News article. Gothic satirical comedy. Its hilarious.

I'm not such a big fan of Sweeny Todd. The version of it that I saw was very disappointing (especially considering how everyone kept talking it up to me). The cast had a habit of over-acting and the lighting was so dark, sometimes I couldn't even see what was happening. People keep telling me that I need to give it another chance, but I just don't wanna pay the ticket price.

The other is Cats. I used to love it when I was younger. But I guess I just grew out of it.

Yeeeaaaaahhhh Raven's sort of got to agree with you on tha one. He's seen Sweeny Todd 4 times in Theater and 3 out of 4 times he couldn't really see anything because of how dark it was. As a rule of Paw, Raven always avoids super hyped up Musicals/Movies/Songs when they first come out because with all of the tension and suspense built up so high it is almost always disappointing after seeing/hearing it yourself. In direction of Sweeny Todd he was speaking more of the 3 Movie Versions, of which he thinks only one is not a musical. (He owns 2 of the Movie Versions). Different Casting, Different Actors fur the different purr-formances he saw, not entirely sure which one was which as fur over-dramatic acting but in one of the dark-lighted purr-formances one of the Actors really screwed up and they had an minor intermission befur restarting at the scene they messed up and tha wasn't really fun. cat_confused If you do decide to give it another chance, Raven would say try one of the film versions first. Borrow it fur Free or wha ever, or if you buy it and like it you only have to pay fur it once and you can watch it as much as you'd like.

CATS... Meow. cat_sad Fur some reason Raven knew you'd say CATS. Hehehe it is funny but it was the opposite fur Raven, when he was younger he didn't really like the Musical CATS tha much. He just thought it went too slowly and it didn't really make much sense story line wise because it was all over the place with no real plot it was harder fur him to follow, especially in the Theaters watching it live. It completely confused him meow and wasn't so fun. cat_burning_eyes

The best part about seeing it live is the cast walking up and down the isles of the dark theater with their glowing cat eyes. That's pretty badass. But the rest of the show is pretty lack luster. It basically a patent to see which cat is most worthy or deserving of the prize.
