Really? B'tes checked in with his dragon and scowled. "Tarazeth," he muttered, "of course. Pay her no mind, prove your worth with actions. She'll probably just enjoy it if you rise to the bait.... However it might be worth you leaving your studies for a little while to observe the situation?" He could see this getting out of hand quite easily. "See if Huanth can keep pace with the drill and keep me updated on their... conversation through you. Whatever the pair of you end up doing being able to divide your attention is a useful skill."

Sereth watched Hunath move back to her clutch mates and a slight pang went through her. Hunath and the rest of her clutch would never know their older sisters and brothers, what wonderful dragons they had been. Even she could only remember their faces from Nersha's memory.
Sereth turned her gaze to the green. What gold had wronged her to make her this way? Or was it someone else and Tarazeth had just chosen golds as her target for her disdain?

such a hard life, lying around the Weyr and watching other dragons work all day to earn your living> Tarazeth shot back at Sereth, ignoring the younger dragon because really she was not going to pick a fight with a hatchling, she had more sense then that (despite all evidence to the contrary). so difficult to be you>

What with that little trip of theirs. Her rider may have been doing things, but what had Tarazeth actually been doing out there?

Tarazeth’s tongue knotted, resisting the impulse to spill just what exactly she and hers had been doing, but she couldn’t, it was a secret, and if she told - especially to win a petty pissing contest - she’d be in deep trouble.
she snapped back, nostrils flaring.

Sereth stiffened at the other dragon's comment. Her head turned slowly to glare at Tarazeth. Civilian?! Was she genuinely insinuating what Sereth thought she was?

Tarazeth needled, pushing too hard but gone too far into this to care.

Sereth's clawed dug into the slush as she stared the green down.

<...I can see them from where I'm standing. They're... right there? I spoke to one of them like, ten seconds ago>
Seriously, what?

Sereth snarled, squeezing her eyes shut. Too many faces. All of them, they'd needed her help. Cried out as they threw themselves between when they're riders were slaughtered. She could still hear them. All of them.
That stupid, stupid, green. Was she really so dense? This was her fault. Names and faces and screams, she couldn't handle it and all because of this stupid green. They had needed her, called out for her to save their riders. It was all her fault, all of it, all of it.
Twisting her body Sereth swung herself around, swinging her tail as hard as she could at the offending green.

The escalating argument had drawn the attention of a dragon who - until just now - had been watching the Weyrlings drill with an air of pride. Now however, now somebody was insulting them and insulting his Queen too! Regulith growled deep in his throat and jumped into the air, skimming low over the ground and coming in to land a short distance away from the pair of females just as Sereth lashed out. Much as he wanted to teach that green a lesson he wouldn't presume to intervene in her fight, he was sure she would call upon him if she wanted his aid. What he would do was make sure that nobody else tried to leap into the action when they had no right to do so.

Tarazeth would have - had she not already been in the water - gone flying, but as it was she was dunked and came up gasping, wings already working in an attempt to get herself aloft off of the surface of the water.
M’ere - who had been concentrating on her meeting - suddenly had her attention switched by the sudden burst of shock.

Sereth hissed in response as she stalked towards the green. Her tail lashed in the water as Sereth's lips peeled back from her teeth. Tarazeth talked a big game, but was she actually willing to back any of that up with her actions.
experienced as yourself, correct?> The mocking tones couldn't have been missed by a wher in sunlight. Sereth was just a civilian after all, surely Tarazeth would have no problem dealing with her.
