Reiyu's sight was drawn to the teeth of Yuki as he began bracing himself and mentally scrambling unconsciously for some sort of protective measure. He was about to use the branch as a shield again when an idea struck him that he might lose it to the possible tug of war that could happen and he preferred he didn't. Still considering his strength in comparison at this point, his preference was not going to seal the deal on what he wanted to happen. And that's when he snapped the branch in half to go with an attempt to execute the strategy that accompanied his considerations. One half of the branch he swung downward while the smaller segment he swung upward went flying out of his softer grasp into the river thanks to Yuki's notable strength. That amazing strength and a voice from seemingly out of nowhere startled him to a jump and several steps backward as his gaze darted to the direction of the new sound. Startled surprise mingled with pleasant surprise on his features as he saw another chibi who he found not so unlike himself. But his gaze returned to Yuki just as quickly with a somewhat intimidated yet entertained guard as he sparred with his starry friend. Several steps backward had morphed into multiple ongoing ones at this point as Yuki was still looming above him and Reiyu was multitasking with the process of putting distance between himself and his fellow combatant who had executed a charge, but with one backward step on one of the leaves on the remaining half of the branch in his hold, he slipped and fell backwards. He breathed a sigh of relief after barely managing to soften the blow of his fall just enough that he only bruised his behind most likely; right after his exclaimed "Ack!"
He let gravity lay him down before he rolled to the side away from the water and got up; still determined to keep pace with the fast moving speed of all the action-packed seconds in the match going on. But now he paused in ready stance to acknowledge the results of the round that just transpired, "Nice move, Yuki! You got me that time!" Then he also added with a turn of his head, "Yuki and I are sparring want to join us?" He waved his free hand overhead as he extended the invitation to the other chibi, keeping Yuki in his peripheral vision. If Yuki intended to push him into the water as it seemed to Reiyu to be the case, Reiyu thought it added to the fun of their battle that they pulled on the sides of different results for the time before their match reaches some sort of sure agreement of an end. Reiyu was not getting pushed into the water without putting up all the good-natured fight he could muster.
