Name: Hair of the Dog Questgiver: Alchemist Prerequisites: BoaringObjectives: Kill Gloomweave Spiders and harvest their venom for the Alchemist Rewards: +1 Alchemy, +1 rookie antidote potion You spy a young woman under a rickety lean-to, built to maybe shelter her from some of the wind, working carefully with glass vials and open flames. A vast assortment of glassware litters her table, and she seems to be heating and examining the contents of one particular vial as you approach. "Oh! Hello there! You look like a capable warrior, am I right? You might be just what I'm looking for! I think I've found a way to fix the problem that the Gloomweave Spiders represent. Their bite is incredibly painful, yes, but it's their venom that really gets to you. I think I've worked out a formula for an antidote to their poison. The problem is that I need some of their venom in order to produce it.
That's where you come in. Could you, maybe, collect some spider venom for me?" She smiles cutely at you.

Name: Dire Straits Questgiver: Trophy Hunter Prerequisites: Level 3 Objectives: locate and kill a Dire Wolf, and then return to the Trophy Hunter Rewards: +1 trophymaking
You come upon a man sitting at a table and drinking from a tall mug of beer. He looks up as you approach. "Tell me, newcomer. Have you ever heard the tale of the Dire Wolf? So large, it is said to be that it makes even a bear seem small. I've hunted for years in these woods and never found a single one. I collect animals, you know. I've collected every animal in this forest except for a Dire Wolf. Just to see one would be the experience of a lifetime. But I never will. Maybe it's time to hang up my fur coat. It's just not worth it anymore. Too many years lost on a fool's errand. But go on, get out of here. I'm trying to wallow in my misery and you're taking up valuable alone time."

Name: Field reconnaissance Questgiver: Ranger Prerequisites: None Objectives: 1 post of traveling in the Forest with the Ranger, learning how to draw maps Rewards: +1 cartography
You see a man dressed in leather, with long, braided hair and a bow in his hand. He looks at you with animal eyes as you approach, before looking back into the trees. "We're all trying to get out of here... But how does one escape? It's a vast wood, this, and we're just wandering blindly through it. I've been trying to map out enough of it that we can find our way out, but I'm just one man. Maybe... Maybe you could help. If I teach you to draw maps, then you could help me put the picture together. Come with me, I will show you."

You approach a man working with stones chiseled into bricks. He seems to be constructing something.
"Hello. Wondering what this monstrosity is, are you? Well, it's going to be a new forge for the Weaponsmith, when it gets done. Are you interested in learning how it's done? You can't just grab some rocks and pile them on top of each other. Come here, I'll show you."

Name: Royal Eggs Questgiver: Beastmaster Prerequisites: Rampaging Rabbits! Objectives: Go into the Gloomweave Cave and find some Gloomweave Eggs for the Beastmaster. Rewards: +1 Gloomweave Egg The Beastmaster seems content now that his rabbits are safely contained once more. He smiles "Thank you for your help. So what brings you around here? Interested in learning how to tame animals? Well, most animals are easy; throw a little food their way and they'll do anything you say. But monsters can be a little trickier. Sometimes there's simply no way to tame a beast without the bond formed by birth.
In fact, I've been meaning to try something for a while now, and I think you can help me with it. All those Gloomweave Spiders have to come from somewhere, right? Well, they're born inside that Cave, and then they come out when they're ready. That means that their eggs are in there. If I could get my hands on those eggs, I could have an actual pet Gloomweave Spider! If you could bring me a Gloomweave egg, we could try and see if it works!
Please, if your adventures ever bring you to Gloomweave Cave, keep an eye out for those Eggs for me."

Name: Hunt Quest: Gloomweave Spiders Questgiver: Concerned Mother Prerequisites: None Objectives: Kill 10 Gloomweave Spiders and return to the questgiver Rewards: 300 Gil and 2 rookie health potions
As you approach a woman, she seems upset. Nervously looking around, and pale as a ghost. She looks at you and begins to speak. "They're everywhere! Those disgusting things are absolutely everywhere! Big enough to carry off a child and venomous enough to kill you in minutes. Gloomweave spiders are the most horrifying monsters in this wood. I just know that one day they'll come and carry off my little girl. That's what they do, you know; they carry you off to their cave, string you up from the ceiling and take their time eating you. It's grotesque, and terrifying. Please, you have to help. Help thin their numbers and keep our children safe. I'll pay you, if only for the peace of mind that it will bring knowing that they are no longer around."

Name: Hunt Quest: Boars Questgiver: Cook's Assistant Prerequisites: None Objectives: Kill 5 boar and return to the Cook's Assistant Rewards: 400 Gil and 1 rookie health crystal
You approach a timid, sickly looking young man, blowing his nose into a handkerchief. He looks up and greets you weakly as you come closer.
"Hi. Sorry, it's this damn wood. It disagrees with me something terrible. Every time I go out there, I spend too long in the cold and the damp and I get sick all over again. It doesn't help that we have to kill two or three boar at a time to bring home for dinner. I'm sorry, I'm the Cook's Assistant, and I'm responsible for bringing home the ingredients he needs to make his meals. The boars don't really cause too much trouble; they're pretty easy to find, and a group of us can take them down fairly quickly. It's the crawling around in the mud looking for mushrooms that kills me.
Look. Maybe you can help me. If we- --ACHOO-- If we thin out the herd, as it were, it'll do two things; there will be fewer boar eating the mushrooms, so we'll find more mushrooms, and the remaining boar will get even fatter, since there will be less competition. You don't need to kill too many of them --we still need to eat-- but every one you kill will help me out a great deal... I'll pay you. I even have a crystal laying around. It's yours if you help me."

Name: Hunt Quest: Bears Questgiver: Explorer Prerequisites: None Objectives: Kill three bears and return to the Explorer Rewards: 500 Gil and 2 rookie health crystals
You come upon a woman, dressed in a long cloak, leather armor, and with a long rapier hanging from her belt. She smiles as you approach, and waves you closer. "Hello there. You must be new here. Well, let me welcome you to Gloomwood. There's lots to do here, so you don't have to go out exploring if you don't want to, but me, myself, I can't get enough of the Woods. There's lots of danger in this woods, though, so if you do decide to go out there, be careful. One of the biggest threats out there are the bears. Diseased, and driven mad by their illness, they will attack anyone who ventures too close to them. If there were someone who could thin their ranks a little, it'd be worth paying them a handsome amount. I don't have trouble with the bears, personally, but they've claimed the lives of many a young Explorer. If you meet anyone who feels the need to perform a public service, putting those bears out of their misery would be one I would personally pay them for."

Name: Lucent for me? Questgiver: Lightcaster Prerequisites: N/A Objectives: harvest 10 motes of light from enemies and return to the Lightcaster. Rewards: +1 charged lucent stone
A woman, covered in jewelry set with small, glowing stones stands beside a newly assembled stand, stacked with books and various pieces of jewelry that seem to each be missing one gemstone or more.
As you approach, you see that the woman seems to be rolling a coin across her knuckles idly as she looks around. Upon closer inspection, you see that the coin is not actually touching her hand, and is in fact dancing softly through the air around her hand.
"I saw you coming from a mile away. You seem like someone who could benefit from what I have to offer. What do I sell, you might ask. Why, useless empty trinkets and cheap stones, clearly." She smiles softly. "But that's just what I sell. But that's not all that I offer." Looking down at the coin in her hand, the woman levitates it above her palm and it bursts into flame. "This is what I offer. A mastery of the light that surrounds and penetrates us all. With my instruction, you can become a master Lightcaster, and bend the rules of the universe to your will. It is a difficult occupation, fraught with danger. But it can be intoxicating. Here. Take this lucent stone and talisman, and find out for yourself. Just wear the talisman, and try to cast your light into the world. If you're interested in following this path, go out and collect the motes of light that you splinter off of your opponents while Lightcasting. Bring me back ten of them, and I'll help you charge your first lucent stone.
Name: rookie lightcaster's talisman Description: A cheap lightcaster's talisman, with a cheap lucent stone permanently set into it. Stats: +2 roll1 generates motes of light when enemy dies
