Her expression gave him doubts, but she had leaned into his hand when he touched her face. He did his best to keep his mind clear, even though his heart was racing. All he could hear from her mind was disbelief, confusion, questioning, which was certainly better than anger, at any rate. He had faced her a few times when she was upset, and it never seemed to end well for him...
Cae shifted a bit on the couch, debating with himself again. Doing his best to casually take a deep breath to try and calm the pounding in his chest, he reached over to place his other hand over hers as it clutched the pillow. Closing it lightly over hers, he was surprised at how warm her skin was, or maybe he was simply more aware of it at the moment?
/ I don't know if I'm...reading you correctly or not, but... /
Not really sure how to even finish the thought, he just leaned closer to her, gently guiding her to rest his forehead against hers. 'Looking' at her through his visor, he tried to send back the same warmth he had felt from her not too long ago, smiling at the thought. Cae didn’t close the remaining distance between them for the same reason he had always been a little wary around her; he didn’t want to accidentally scare her away from what might be her only home.

She watched him curiously as he shifted his position, edging along the couch to face her fully. She could feel her cheeks heating as he breathed, the tension was nearly palatable; escalating to the point where everything was feeling surreal to her. There was a brief moment where she wondered if the nerves she was feeling was because of the mental chatter frequency, and what they could possibly mean, when he reached out to cover her other hand with his. Her breath hitched and she had to hold it to fight down the urge to cough as her face grew uncomfortably warm. She felt foolish, like some teenager that didn’t have experience with these sorts of things, but this was a very different animal from some adrenaline-high rushed romance brought on from Spartan life. Tayce would’ve shaken her head to clear the thoughts if his hand wasn’t still cupped against her cheek. Her thoughts were still a jumbled mess as he ‘spoke’, eyes widening as he leaned towards her. Obeying the gentle tugs and cues, she leaned closer to Cae as her heart seemed to skip before picking up the pace of it’s tattoo.
Their foreheads touched and for a moment she was confused, maybe she misunderstood. Then his eyes locked with hers, and by the crinkle around his eyes she could tell he was smiling. Blinking, Tayce really looked through the tinted visor at his ‘sightless’ eyes, though she kept spotting sparks of light flickering and wandering across the lens where her shadow cast across his face. She let go of the breath she’d been holding then, not even aware she was doing it as she started sinking into the rush of warmth she was feeling. Shaking, it felt like there wasn’t enough air to breathe as she smiled back, near tears with the force of it. He...loved her? It was fragile, he was unsure, frightened? Distant out of respect? Afraid of her running maybe, of losing even the friendship perhaps.
Her hand slipped away from where it was still folded over his upon her cheek to cup her mouth; caught somewhere between giggling and crying while she smiled and her heart overflowed. Tayce was drowning in this, her breath hiccuping as she struggled with the immensity of it. Unable to just sit any longer, she had to -do- something with all she was feeling, and reached out with both of her hands to ensnare his jaw and dragged his mouth to hers as she kissed him; pouring all that she was feeling into the gesture.

Fear struck him for a moment as he picked up what he thought was laughter both in her thoughts and actions, but the warmth that soon drowned it out let him relax after the moment passed. His face burned at the touch of her hands as she pulled him towards her, and then they were together, he could feel the warmth flowing through her.
He held the kiss as relief washing over him, sharing his thoughts and emotions with her. Sliding his hand up slightly from her cheek, he rubbed at an ear, light motions of his fingers as the other hand moved to do the same. Cae forced himself to pull away after a while, thin traces of worry running through the warmth, reminding himself of her breathing. Catching his breath, he gently spoke to her, exhilarated.
/ I care a lot about you, I’ve just been worried that I might scare you off if I couldn’t say it, or if it came across wrong, or… /
He took a moment to slide his visor off, his world going dark as he set it on the floor, but he could feel her still, sense where she was. Resuming the slow motions of his fingers against her ears, he kissed her cheek softly, nuzzling against it without the visor getting in the way. His free hand slid behind her, finding its way up along her back beneath her shirt. Cae’s attentions were slow and gentle, trying not to be forceful, but he burned inside to have all of her. His hesitation mostly from fear of how she would react, a worry that still pressed against his thoughts even though he could feel hers.
/ I...think I’m in love with you, Tayce… /

Her heart felt alight, and for a brief moment there was that dizzying feeling of her body being weightless like in zero G, it was exhilarating and almost too much to feel everything through both sides of the looking glass. It was like having her emotions reflected back at her, just very slightly altered, and somehow it magnified everything; an endless loop that made it hard to think with how much she was feeling. Every touch seemed amplified, from the warmth of his lips to the gentle caress of his hands. Tayce felt like she was drowning, in every sense of the word, and even though her lungs burned she couldn’t seem to stop from wanting more of the kiss. Cae finally pulled away and she panted for breath, wheezing as she sucked in air.
She had to calm down a little as they caught their breath to understand what he was trying to say, her heart tumbling about making it hard to concentrate on where she ended and he began. Putting into words what she had felt from him earlier, Tayce tried to send reassurance through their connection as her breathing finally stabilized. She understood, thinking back on all of the side glances and awkward moments that she’d just taken for something else; they were separated by culture and language after all. Well, not so much anymore.
Concerned as he removed his visor, she reached out to touch his arm as he placed it on the floor, but it didn’t seem like his head was bothering him if his hands brushing against her ears once more was any indication. Leaning into his touch, she watched his clouded eyes with half-closed eyes. How much could he ‘see’ through the biotic mind thing? Tayce could still feel his thoughts and feelings pulsing under hers, a slow rolling heat that made her heart race; but she knew he was fully blind, and the vulnerability made everything feel a bit more raw. He was hardly ever without his visor, and the few moments he’d let her touch it he’d been fiercely protective of it. With very good reason, obviously. She didn’t have long to marvel at him before his lips brushed her cheek, the fire racing beneath her skin making her gasp. She could feel his face buried against her as his hand snaked around to draw her near. No visor to get in the way, and with her shirt rucked up and away there was no cloth there either. Every place they touched blazed with the contact and she whimpered from the force of it, her hands shaking as she clutched at his chest and simply hung on; afraid she’d fly into pieces if she wasn’t anchored somehow.
Through the powerful haze she could feel him whisper, feel all the force of his emotion behind it, and couldn’t help but start to cry from the sheer immensity of it. Grasping him to pull their bodies fully together, she clung to his back and nuzzled his neck, drinking him in. She felt too full, it was too much, but yet there was a hunger and she was starving for him. This wasn’t like anything she’d felt before, and even though she had a ‘voice’ now, Tayce didn’t know the words that could possibly convey what she was feeling. Instead she dragged her fingers over his shoulder blades and kissed his jaw line, hoping her silent tears weren’t confusing him as she poured herself into her touches, seeking out skin to caress and nuzzle, needing to feel him, needing him to understand what she couldn’t say.

Panting softly from the sheer energy between them, and the effort of restraining himself, he pulled her against him as she clung to his back. He trailed his hand down the side of her face slowly, relishing in the feel of her skin beneath his fingers, thinking of how often he’d wanted to touch her longer than just what was acceptable for casual contact. Cae had let his hands linger before when he had to patch her up, but never for too long out of fear of her catching on, the relief of being able to let go of that fear only adding to the heated emotions pouring through their connection.
He was able to discern what belonged to who in his mind, something the Asari had taught him, but he found it was much more enjoyable to loosen his mental grip and simply add to the delicious heat coursing through them. It helped immensely that they had similar feelings, blending together perfectly as they embraced, not to mention comforting that there was no discord. The burning desire to feel more of him, flowing seamlessly alongside what must have been his desire to feel her, everything wonderfully amplified with the loss of his vision.
Pulling away slightly, a hand trailed along her neck and down her side, the other sliding back as Cae lightly grasped at her shirt, exposing more of her to his hunger’s delight as he lifted it. His hands slid down along her bare sides, burning even from the gentle caresses he gave her skin, breathing heavily against her neck as he tried to feed the insatiable desire.
He absolutely delighted in this, the mutual emotions swirling together, mixing effortlessly and gaining energy from each other. It was like nothing he had experienced before, as his previous relationships had stemmed either from the awe of being with an Alliance soldier, or someone merely wanting to mark a biotic off of their checklist. Those had been one-sided for various reasons, the feelings either not mixing well, or the other simply blocking him out, but with Tayce it was...extraordinary. The ease of which they meshed together, her lack of fear or prejudice at his biotics, the sincerity of the feelings pouring through her. He blinked his sightless eyes, trying to push away the moisture on them as he felt her feelings reciprocating against his own, overwhelmed by the hot storm brewing between them.
/ I need you Tayce… /

There was an exhilaration in feeling beyond herself, it was strange and exciting but a bit overwhelming too. The more she tried to find the seams between them the more intense her vertigo, but there was a need to know where she was and where that ended, and where he began. She wasn’t used to being without that sense of self, feeling a bit lost as their emotions blended again. Always a soldier first, always prepared, tense, ready. To ease completely into him was as alien a concept as… well, this alien place was at first. Ok, so everything since she got here had been bizarre and beyond her. But this was… inside, in a way. A leap of faith she’d never made before. It was just so damned hard to focus when his hands were doing that though. Fingertips trailed along the line of her throat, her head tilting back of its own accord to grant him access to more of the sensitive skin as some rumbling noise she didn’t know she could make resonated in her mouth. Eyes fluttering open again as he continued his ministrations, tugging at her shirt and inviting himself to sample more of her, she struggled again to find some rock to cling to in the waves of heat that rolled and crashed with each breath. When she looked at his face though, the soft set of his eyes, the tilt of his mouth, every movement was so easy to read now, she could feel it all, no more guessing, and the emotions were all so raw. His expression was so tender it made her heart ache, how could they not have known how the other felt until now? It seemed so clear, with his desire pulsing through her, and her own answering the call. With a trembling hand, she reached out to brush the pad of her thumb along his cheekbone as he blinked again, clouded eyes glistening with the force of the emotion she could feel him feeling.
I need you Tayce…
As if the sensations weren’t clear indicators, but to ‘hear’ the words, his sincerity and a thousand memories burning behind each syllable, made it all more real for her. Her face flushed with the thrill of it, pulse racing as she took a deep breath. Oh, to hell with it.
She let her head slip beneath the waves, gave up the ghost for finding that thin edge of their divide and just let it be what it is. Smiling at the sense of freedom, Tayce giggled with an airless rush as she threw herself at him, pouncing as she had the first time they met; but now there was a couch behind him to break their fall. The physical one, anyway.
