Go ahead and bring in another of yours to break the news to them ^_^

Lucian watched her dive and was stunned at the grace with which she descended, but all too late did he noticed she was dropping at an incredible speed and feared the worse. He watched holding his breath, and his heartbeat raced in fear as the lioness had a rough landing. He quickly dove to land by her side. Unfurling his wings seconds before he touched the ground, the air caught his wings like a parachute and he landed solidly before running to Starla's side. He had seen her wing gesture letting him know she was all right, but still he was worried.

"You're dirty," was what came out when he found his tongue to speak, and his heartbeat slowed in relief. He watched her with curious eyes as she searched, and noticed she was favoring her left front paw. "M'lday, you're injured. Perhaps we should take a rest and call it a day," he fretted and went to walk beside her. When he thought about it, he found her clumsiness cute but frightening at the same time. "Maybe we can work on our landings together when you're not busy?" he said, not wanting to sound rude or offend her. She had simply scared the fur right off of him.

It felt odd to care for a lioness after such a brief meeting, but Lucian noticed the ache in his chest had lessened quite a bit. The new feeling... it was strange, and yet it was familiar. He didn't have many friends, and perhaps this was what it felt like to have a new friendship. Lucian wasn't sure, but he let it go for now and went to help his new friend.

He was surprised at Starla's conflicting expression as she dug the glass out, and nodded in agreement. "You'd think those glasses would be easy to find," he sighed a little disappointed himself. When she complimented him, Lucian wasn't sure what to say as his cheeks warmed. "Thank you," he finally managed after what seemed minutes and smiled, "you remind me of the night sky in a way. No. That's not right. You remind me more of the beautiful shades of amethyst purple and ocean blue during twilight."

The red deepened as he returned the compliment, and he glanced away pretending to clear his throat. "I'm sorry. I went too far there, but what I meant was you are beautiful yourself," Lucian said briefly meeting her gaze. He looked up into the sky and noticed the sun would be setting soon. "Uh, how does your paw feel? If it hurts to walk, we can fly or go find a spot to rest," he turned his attention back to her and gave a friendly smile, his cheeks still slightly red.

Starla snorted at the first remark that came from Lucian's mouth when he looked upon her. With a smile and a roll of her eyes, she batted her sandy wings in his direction.
"No, really? I didn't realize." When he took a more serious note on it, focusing more on her twisted paw, she shook her head. It throbbed, but she wasn't going to let it get in their mission! "I appreciate your concern, but I'm alright, really. Just don't step on it, okay?" She asked, bumping her shoulder with his in reference to his close proximity to her.

He'd seemed surprised at her compliment, but she was downright stunned at his reply. She had called him handsome, but he had described her in a manner so much more poetic. She was suddenly thankful for her violet furred cheeks, which hid their reddening color. Her whole world, for the most briefest of moments, was turned on its side. Her eyes lit up with a feeling she was unfamiliar with, but she looked on Lucian with such a grand warmth. She knew not what the feeling was, but she wanted to keep it within her forever.

But then it was gone and Lucian was looking away from her. He looked back before it faded, but he was apologizing for going to far. Had she embarrassed him, looking at him as she had? Suddenly she was full of insecurities, as she had been before she had met him and she was all paws and no balance.

"Well..." Maybe it wasn't such a great idea to put any extra strain on her paw. She turned to the forest that bordered the shore. She wasn't very good at navigating through jungle terrain and she didn't exactly have a permanent home to go back to so... "Shall we try in there?" She waited for some sort of confirmation from Lucian when a flurry of paws and sand suddenly burst from the foliage of the forest, and it was headed straight towards Starla and Lucian!

"Watch out!" Starla exclaimed, trying to ward off the creature with her wings, while moving between it and the green lion behind her, but her paw gave out and she stumbled into the sand. She thought for sure the creature would run them both down, but with surprising agility, it swerved in the nick of time, stopping in front of them.

"Quiet, quiet!" hissed the beast, its sides heaving. Starla could see now that it was a dragon, tall and purple with teal accents... and very noticeable front fangs. Starla wanted to become very small under its gaze, because while she'd heard stories of good dragons, she had yet to meet one this close. "Neither of you saw me here, understand? Not a single word from either of you if he comes--" There was a distant roar from within the jungle wilderness and with a final look at the two lions, the dragon bolted down the beach for a few paces and then back into the trees, leaving a very breathless Starla. She looked up at Lucian in bewilderment, when another figure came from the trees, this one winged.

This one was very clearly another male lion. He spotted Starla and Lucian and flew towards them, his red-brown mane and pale coat a startling contrast to his black wings. When he spoke, he seemed to disregard Lucian entirely and speak only to Starla.

"Why, good day my fine feline." His voice made Starla uneasy, but she replied with a simple, "Hello." Clearly this was the wrong choice, as the lion seemed to light up and his shoulders relaxed. Why, he even lay down beside Starla where she had fallen! "What might a cat like you be doing on a beach like this?" His voice was so compelling that her bones seemed to turn to jelly and there was something about the glow of his eyes that drew her in. She hadn't originally intended to answer him, but the words were coming from her mouth before she could stop them. "We're looking for the Breeding Glasses that were stolen from Marver."

The lion gave a hearty laugh at this, resulting in a confused smile from Starla. What had she said again?

"Why, my pretty kitten, the glasses have been found! Now that you haven't this heroic quest to venture on, why not take it upon yourself to join me on mine, eh? You see, I'm looking for a lovely purple dragon who's come through this way. She's a pride member of mine and I've been sent to fetch her home. Won't you accompany me while we look for her? I'm sure you could benefit from this arrangement, just as much as I. Hm?"

Starla wasn't quite sure how to feel about this. Go on a quest with this lion? She didn't even know his name, but his eyes and his voice and...

BAM! Sorry again for the lateness of my reply, but I hope ya like my post, cause I worked rather hard on it. 3nodding
I thought it may be a good chance to give Lucian a change to confront a pest like Rogue. xD
Note: Rogue is a charmer: literally. He has a very thin ability to hypnotize others with his eyes or his voice, should he decide to use it and only the very strong willed, like Viola, can resist his charms. Starla, unfortunately, is too trusting of others. sweatdrop

No worries! I hope you're feeling better and doing okay ^_^ And your post is awesome! x3

Lucian chuckled as she bumped his shoulder with hers, and watched where he stepped so he wouldn't step on her sore paw. "Now, I'm dirty! We match!" He referred to the sand on him from her wing flinging, and gave a good hearty laugh, feeling his discomfort melt away, but not before he had caught the look in her eyes as they lit up. They glowed so brightly, Lucian swore Starla was more mesmerizing than any moon or sun; heck, even the stars had nothing on her. Though, he was too embarrassed to say so, and merely thought the words. Perhaps one day he would say those words to her... when he had the courage.

"The crazy forest? Sure, but are you sure your paw is--" Lucian was cut off as a purple dragoness leapt from the forest foliage and he was stunned at her agility. She was graceful, and his jaw hung in awe but was shut as soon as she spoke. Lucian nodded in agreement not to say anything as she was off. He then rushed to Starla's side, and went to put a wing around her protectively in case her paw was harmed more, or worse broken by her fall. "Starla!" Lucian's worry shone through in his tone and expression.

Soon after, and before Lucian could say more, a lion emerged from the same area as the dragoness, and Lucian's hair rose on end; he felt the cold creature that he used to be rise to the surface. It was a defense mechanism around other males, and Lucian was not going to let this one steal Starla away from him. She warmed him from the inside out, and though he was afraid of giving voice to the feeling, he was not about to let her go. He had just met her after all, and he made a promise to not leave her alone on her journey.

Lucian cleared his throat and moved to stand between this new male and Starla. He did cover her with his wing, and stared the lion in the eyes. There was something strange, as if his mind threatened to go fuzzy. Lucian growled and shook his head clear, his mind alert now as he spoke. "That's wonderful that all of the glasses are safe and sound, and now I may accompany this fine lady to her home, or better yet, mine," he let the protectiveness and possessiveness seep into his tone, hoping Starla wouldn't get angry at him. But there was something just not right as Lucian continued to stare this lion down. "And no we have not seen anyone else come through here. In fact I thought I heard someone run through the forest and down that way along the tree line," Lucian pointed to his right, giving the wrong direction completely, then moved his head close to Starla's ear. "Starla," he whispered warmly and softly into her ear so only she would hear him, "my remark about my home... that is not my intention, but what would you like to do? I am more than willing to escort you home. I uh... want to make sure you're safe." And this creep doesn't follow you, Lucian thought.

Starla had never really noticed it Lucian's feathers before, because they had never been so close to her face. With his wing slung over her as it was, she found herself peering closely at his feathers, distracted from the charming black-winged lion who was speaking to them.

They're soft. She thought to herself, only to smile slightly, Aside from the sand, that is. The thought was enough to keep her occupied, for the time being, while the two males talked.

"Oh?" Rogue's eyes narrowed at the distastefully green lion that stood close next to the pretty, purple lioness he'd been speaking with. "To your home, hm? Why don't we ask the lady who she'd like to go home with?" His eyes flashed and he took a step forward, bearing his teeth at the male at what hinted at a smile, "How can you be so sure that she won't willingly leave your side? Perhaps, dear fellow, you are being too protective of this lovely feline." He turned his head to the purple lioness, who seemed to be sniffing at the other lion's feathers. He didn't take this as entirely strange. Some lionesses would experience dizziness or fogginess when they fell under his trance. "Well, Gold-Eyed Princess?" Asked Rogue, his face relaxing into a more easy-going grin as he looked upon the violet feline, "Why don't you come home with me, instead?"

Starla had become very interested in Lucian's feather and their texture, but unlike Rogue had believed, she wasn't simply sniffing them. She had outright, pressed her nose lightly against his wing, comforted by having it around her. It helped her thoughts to clear a bit, though she was still rather light-headed due to the close proximity of the lion that stood before them. Between her fuzzy head and the comfort of Lucian's wing around her, she was tempted to fall asleep right then and there, before she found that the lions were now speaking to her.

The stranger had spoken first, naming her royalty, which confused her in the state she was in. She wasn't of any sort of royal descent, was she? Did he know something she didn't? Then he asked her to come home with him. He looked upon her with such a fierce and powerful gaze that she was opening her mouth to say yes, when Lucian's head was next to hers and he was speaking to her now. He seemed to have mentioned going back to his home too. As Starla didn't have any sort of home to, she couldn't see why it mattered which one she went with... but...

"I will not leave you, Lucian." She turned her gaze onto the black lion's, his emerald eyes causing her own to clear more rapidly, and she blinked to further move the dizziness away. "We promised, we're not leaving each other." She felt empowered by this decision and stood, raising her injured paw to her chest. She turned her gaze to the other lion, but she would not look upon him directly. She seemed to be looking just by his ear, away from his eyes. She was beginning to catch on. "I am happy where I am. You may leave us, now."

Needless to say, Rogue was not pleased by the result and his charm fell away to bitterness. A low, threatening growl came from the male's throat and he saw the purple lioness falter, shrinking back under the wing of her companion.
"Very well, pet." He spat the word, his eyes blazing, "I'm sure I will be seeing you again, very soon. Till then, darling." Then, he turne and stalked in the direction the other male had indicated. He lost a purple lioness, but he would claim his purple dragoness for his own, even if it killed him.

Once the lion had disappeared, Starla let out an audible sigh of relief. The sunset was upon them now and darkness was sure to follow quickly in suit. They hadn't even begun their search into the woods and Starla's paw was throbbing more strongly than before.
"Maybe we can simply find a place in the trees along the border of the beach." She suggested to Lucian, her gaze moving back to his, "It may not be the most comfortable, but it should provide us with enough cover tonight. What do you think?" She asked him, feeling very worn out already.

Rogue is definitely an awesome character ^_^ I like the ability he has too : )

Lucian had felt Starla press her nose against his wing and felt a warmth surge through his body. He didn't fight the feeling as he had done before, finding a passion and courage in the warmth of her touch, and glared the male in the eyes. Lucian silently bared his teeth at this play-boy of a lion, not wanting to startle Starla since she was so close to him. Simply letting the two talk, he listened and watched. The 'gold-eyed Princess' comment had Lucian growling, as the green monster of jealousy reared its head, and he had to look to Starla to stop himself.

He would not allow this male to harm her, or charm her into something she would otherwise say no to if she were not being entranced by this male. Lucian could see it in the strange male's gaze and had only heard of the ability once before. Most lions and dragons had some sort of special ability. Lucian, with his scales, mimics that of a serpent and is immune to poisons, produces his own toxic poisons (when he decides to inject an enemy/victim) which makes his bite fatal to others not immune, and can scent the air with the flick of his forked tongue. He is cold blooded, and sometimes, when he chooses to, he can see others' heat signatures. Otherwise he observes with eye sight that is considered normal.

Knowing this male was playing mind games with Starla had him wanting to strike out.

As Starla stood, Lucian moved to give her room but kept himself close to her and his wing above. When he heard her say she wouldn't leave, his heart was filled with joy and he grinned in triumph that shone in his eyes as he continued to watch the other lion. "I don't think so. You have someone else to catch," Lucian hissed such as a snake would and flicked out his forked tongue threateningly. He was afraid that Starla would be disgusted by the show of him allowing some of his oddities to be known, but he took the risk.

Waiting until the strange male was gone, Lucian turned his attention back to Starla and all signs of hostility melted away, and he sighed in relief. He was warmly smiling at her and nodded his head in agreement. "If we find a thick enough branches, it can be comfortable. You also don't have to worry about falling," he brushed against her shoulder in sign of.... happiness, if he was going to be honest with himself. He was giddy she was going to stay with him and that he was still with her; every ounce of his happiness shone in his eyes and expression as he gazed at her.

Lucian felt exhaustion begin to seep into his bones. Having his emotions all over the place took a toll on him that he wasn't used to, but he wasn't going to complain either as he stared into golden eyes "more beautiful than the sun," he whispered aloud.

Starla was tired, but not so tired as to miss out on what Lucian was telling her about the trees she'd recommended they sleep in. She nodded her reply and was starting to look about for a tree when she heard a whisper of words that shocked her into speech.
"What did you say?" She said, turning around to face Lucian with an expression that was an equal amount of surprised and foolishly happy. What he had said... Was he referring to her?

She was opening her mouth to request that he repeat himself, when her eyes spotted a wide tree trunk just behind her companion. Tilting her head back, she found that it had many thick branches that were spread close together. By the looks of it, both she and Lucian would be able to sleep in the same tree.
"Oh! Here's a good tree to use!" She said suddenly, passing Lucian and jumping at the trunk. She wasn't a particularly graceful climber, but it was certainly easier than flying at it and soon enough, she had procured herself a steady branch. She draped herself over it and was already beginning to doze off when a thought roused her.

"Lucian, thank you for staying so close to me. I've never had a friend before and well," The lioness trailed off for a moment, only to give him a drowsy, happy look and say, "Well, I love being with you more than anything else and I hope we stay together for a very long time." And with that, her head fell lightly against the branch she lay upon and the lioness drifted off to sleep.

Do you want to end the rp here? ^_^

It took Lucian a moment to realize what he had said out loud, and felt a flustered, deep red blush spread across the dark fur of his cheeks. He gave a small, awkward smile and was about to repeat himself when she turned her attention to the tree behind him. Not missing her expression, he felt himself light up from within, and he would tell her what he had said. Lucian would push past his nerves and tell her.

"This tree looks exquisite," he followed after her into the tree tops. "Very sturdy, and no fears of falling. Perfect! You have a wonderful eye for hunting," he complimented her, though he was stalling a little to work up the courage to repeat himself from earlier. Lucian felt the exhaustion wash over him, and the warmth that seemed to surround him, made him drowsy.

"You're welcome Starla," he found a spot about a foot away from her on a branch close by, laid down, and let his wings sprawl out. Shifting to lay on his side and look at her, Lucian's smile grew at her words. "I hope we do too. I'll travel with you for as long as you want me by your side, m'lady," he took a deep breath and yawned. "Your eyes golden eyes are more beautiful than the sun," he whispered loud enough for her to hear as she drifted off to sleep. Lucian yawned again, and closed his eyes drifting into slumber with a goofy smile on his face.
