Lane finished off another piece of the pile and grabbed some napkins to wipe his fingers off with. He wasn't very conservative and would only wipe one or two fingers on a napkin before grabbing another to dab at another mess that he had made. Crumbling them up he threw them on a pile next to his sports drink. He moved his tongue to move around the piece of food in his mouth and swallowed it when it was free. It was disgusting and he hated doing that but it was bothering him when he chewed. He glanced over at Salt to see if she had noticed the nasty little movement. She rejected his second offer to share his food with her and wondered if she was one of those girls on a diet. He tilted his head as he looked at her, putting his hands on the table. He lowered his voice a bit and looked around in case anybody was listening in on their conversation. He raised a hand and cupped it around his mouth. "Are you on a diet?" He asked of her, lowering his hand back down. He pointed towards the kitchen with his thumb. "They're salads and fruit over there if you don't want to eat meat." He said, taking a glance at his pile of food. Honestly, there weren't any greens on it and it only consisted of the fried stuff, bread, and other junk foods. "Here," he said to her, scooting back in his chair as he stood up. He wiped his hands on his pants and held a hand out to her. "Let's go get something for you to eat." He didn't want to seem pushy but he honestly believed that eating lunch was one of the most important things to do in a day. He wasn't going to have his roommate go and starve.

The thought suddenly hit him. 'What if she doesn't have the money to eat?' He asked himself before looking at her, wondering if she was going to take his hand. "I don't mind paying for you." He offered with a concerned smile. Not once did he think that maybe she wasn't hungry at the time.

It was becoming increasingly more clear that Lane wasn't too aware of the concept of personal space, what with him constantly leaning in and speaking to her. He did know she could hear him just fine from a foot or two away, right? Maybe he had difficult hearing her? Salt was curious why he asked her if she was on a diet. She rethought her actions, trying to decipher what she did to make him think such a thing. After a bit of contemplating she smiled and actually giggled at the realization that he must've thought such based upon the fact that she wasn't eating.

Salt never had any time to diet. She'd never considered it and never needed it. She wasn't underweight, or anything of the sort. Just tiny. If there was any dieting she would've considered, it would've been a calcium based one in order to get her to grow a little. But she never gave it much thought. She was satisfied with the way she looked. She'd never been called cute or beautiful, and never really considered looks as something that mattered, anyways. It was always credibility. Always smarts. It'd been drilled into her brain that those things lasted forever, not beauty.

"I'm not on a diet, silly. And It's perfectly fine, you don't need to pay for my meal, either. Though I do appreciate your generosity." She got up from her seat and went into her tote bag and brought out an adorable watermelon wallet.

It was true that Salt was a little hungry, she didn't deny that. The girl thought this would be the perfect opportunity to eat something, since they were both casually talking. Approaching the lunch bar, Salt smiled and gave a cute wave to the lunch lady. The woman smiled back and said,
                    "What can I get'cha?"

Salt cleared her throat quietly and then asked, "The pecan salad? It looks very delicious. I was wondering if I could have it with a side of fruit, please?"

The lady gave a nod and went to the back to retrieve her things, returning with a tray of fresh greens showered with nuts and a vinaigrette, along with a side of vibrant berries. She reached in her watermelon wallet and got out a pink credit card, swiping it and paying. Then, she returned to the table and set down her things, forking up a piece of fruit and tasting it. She closed her eyes and sighed, then smiled brightly. "It's very good. Would you like to try some? Fruits, especially when combined with those starches you ate earlier, aid in digestion." She forked up another fruit and held it up for him to eat.

┏━━━━━━━━━┓

┗━━━━━━━━━┛

Simon entered the cafeteria in hopes of finding something to satisfy his hunger, knowing full well that food wasn't going to help him that much anyway. He scanned the room, watching mostly students socialize and move about the food stations. He thought to himself, There are so many people here, each living full and unique lives…can I really do this? It was his first week at Ashhaven, and already he was concerned. Though he usually maintained a demeanor of confidence and responsibility, it was a bit rare for him to be completely clear of self-doubt. His top worry was his competence in helping the students as a counselor. He relied too heavily on his demonic abilities, and felt that he didn't have the dexterity to make a positive impact on his own. Even so, Simon was
determined to give it his all.

First, he would have to find something to eat. Great work is hardly done when there are distractions. It was time to pull himself together and be confident, even if he had to fake it for the time being.

While walking towards the trays, Simon eyed the various food items that were available. Nothing in particular caught his attention. He didn't like greasy junk food, nor was he a fan of sweets. Instead, he got himself a salad, not very pleased with that either. Simon preferred to cook for himself, since he was such a picky eater.

Sitting down, Simon allowed himself to relax for a moment. It wouldn't be long before he was back in his office, filling out paperwork and meeting with students. First introductions were key. If the students didn't find him to be enjoyable, or at the very least, pleasant, then they were more likely to try to handle things on their own. It was a lot of pressure, but it was this aspect that Simon was most confident in. He knew he wasn't irritating to people. It was quite the opposite, though, it probably did have something to do with his demonic qualities. Even so, Simon was a gentle soul and had little difficulty getting along with others. It was only his actions that made him so nervous.
