February 25th, 2020: Lanzer Kiro_Shinigami FeaturesAny ETA on when people will have unlimited ignored and unlimited friends options? The current cap is 500 on both. Oh yes, the friendslist overhaul need to happen so we can store more than 500 names at a time. Let me see about making some changes to allow more than 500 before we have the overhaul.

March 10th, 2020: Lanzer dreamsk Daily GiftLast week a bunch of people were unable to claim their final gift of the week. Are you guys aware? Are we just skipping this week with no kind of compensation for people? That doesn't sound right, there might be some configuration issues. I'll look into it right after ATS. Lanzer Shrimp_Man MiscAre you guys aware of the fact that most of us weren't able to claim Monday's daily gift because of the time change? Are we all going to be missing out on the final day reward because of the error out of our control? Sorry I didn't know it's due to daylight savings. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I'll see about fixing it right after ATS Lanzer Pandy Belle-chan Games- zOmgEven though, I unfriended this person they are still a blue dot on zomg. When I go to main site, they are not on my friends list and I put them on my ignore list. When I see them on zomg, they are removed from my ignore list on gaia. I simply can not ignore this person. Zomg keeps taking them off Sorry I have not got a chance to fix the friends bug in zOMG yet, I'll be working on it soon.

March 31st, 2020: [NPC] Gaia Staff Welcome Back! (With extra answered questions since we were out a couple of weeks!) smile Quote: FeaturesJust wondering why I’m occasionally seeing ads when I visit Gaia via mobile through safari? I have ads disabled with my cash purchasing. Usually they appear at the bottom of the page, in one instance a while back it floated above the quick links footer bar. We recently added a new ad provider but there was a problem with it staying hidden. The bug should be fixed now. Quote: GeneralAs Glengrin asked, are you guys able to do much of the server work remotely, since there's a restriction on gatherings? I was under the impression there were way more than 10 people on staff, and a crowded office building seems like a place illness would spread easily. Yes, we are under the shelter in place for all of California. We are in the Bay Area so actually have been under it for 16 days already. Fortunately, while we all miss being able to chat with each other in person, we can manage everything we need to remotely and have many channels of communication open between the multiple groups so we can keep everything running almost as smoothly as ever. Like with everyone in this situation it's different, and a change, but one that we are up to and will continue to do our best to make Gaia a place you want to log into and have fun with your friends around the world. Quote: AdsRecently it seems you guys added ads that circumvent general ad blockers as they seem to be directly in the site's coding. The community is outraged by this change with many threads in SF being angered by this change as it affects their ability to enjoy the site. Can you explain why you felt the need to include this change? If it can't be removed due to contract or agreement between you and a third party can you also clarify that? And also while Angel Subs block these ads the 249+ GC spent option doesn't block it and I feel that it should. If you think 249gc is too low, raising it to something like 500 should be fine but it should also block those ads in my opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond. This issue is hitting home for a lot of people and while I understand we need to explore all financial options to keep the site afloat--this upsets a large part of the userbase and is something I think you guys need to reconsider. As a company Gaia had been working with different ad providers throughout the years. The advertising business is a strange one where different providers come and go, as their offers and amount of payout changes over time, making it hard to just stick with one provider forever. Yes we usually shop around for the provider which provides competitive rates, though anything to do with ad blocking was not an objective, but more of how the industry is moving towards as a whole. Unfortunately we are not in a position to ignore additional revenue streams, especially with the condition of the economy at this point in time. We will continue to look at different providers to hopefully find another provider with good rates and less impact of user experience. Quote: COVID19: What precautions has Gaia done to ensure the safety of their staff members? Is the Gaia office in California closed for now and everyone is working from home? Do the staff members have enough health insurance to get tested properly if they get symptoms? Gaia has been great insuring our safety! We have all been working from home since the shuttering in place. It's caused a few issues (sorry last week's ATS!) but we have worked them out and hopefully should be able to keep going strong until this is over. We all are being safe and careful and hopefully you all will be too! Lanzer Astraealys FeaturesAny plans on advertising the site to draw in more members? Yes, though not at the immediate moment, we have a bit more core feature fixes first.

April 7th, 2020: [NPC] Gaia Staff Welcome Back! Quote: misc / featureswhy are there ads on the log out page even if you pay to get rid of ads? like you cant be getting any revenue from ads on the log out page can you please fix this issue? thanks in advance Blocking ads requires the system to check your account to verify if you should be shown ads or not. Once you log out, there is no way to check that therefore you see ads as if you had not paid not to see them. Once you log back in again they will again disappear. Yuroppa DarkRybrin Yuroppa ElegantlyLuminous Art (?)Just a follow-up to something that started, eh, a year or so ago. Ish. (Time. Who needs it?) A few of us had mentioned wanting to be volunteer recolor artists and it was under discussion. I vaguely recall it ended up being a semi-complicated thing re: laws and compensation (or lack thereof) but don't recall any definitive answer. Any updates on that? Goodness knows I'd love to donate some kin recolors. emotion_dowant One day, BoomBat. One day. Yeah! So when it comes to unpaid positions (internships or other things like that) at a company, there are limitations on what they are allowed to do. Basically we can't accept free work for something that we would be selling. So that means we can't have volunteer recolorists/artists. It's unfortunate for those who wanted to contribute, but these rules are there to prevent employers from taking advantage of their employees/interns/volunteers. On this, would it be the same if volunteers submitted things for the Golden Catch? Essentially let volunteer users pump gold out of the economy (which doesn't count as a sale?), making Gaians happier and updates more frequent. Thank you for answering our questions. We adore you guys. Hmmmmm maybe?? I'll have to look into this further to find out!

April 14th, 2020: Lanzer Prince of the Rainforest MiscWould possibly making an online album of the zOMG! soundtrack as well as tracks from the various holiday and promotional events, as well as chat world music from along the years be a possibility? Huge Gaia Online fan. I'll look into putting all the MP3's in the download section Yuroppa DarkRybrin Artists - Recolorists Volunteering. I thought I'd check in with you, did you get a chance to look at the legality of accepting free recolor maps (you naturally assign us things) for release as golden catch/gold shop/giftbox items? Not yet!

April 21st, 2020: Jak Bauer rheostatic Customer ServiceHi guys! With the increasing amount of work that the CS team is dealing with due to an increase of tickets and a decrease of staffing over the years, it got me thinking: Exactly what are the requirements to join the CS team? Would you have to be a mod first? Would you be able to work remotely/out of state? Would you consider part time or even volunteer (laws permitting) positions? The reason I ask is because I have a lot of CS experience and would love to help Gaia out with this backlog but I really don't want to be a mod again (been one on another site and burned out). It be interesting to know the requirements and if you're considering hiring more on at this time! Hi there, Right at the moment we do not have any openings in our Customer Service team, tho that may change in the future. As far as your questions: The requirements vary as there are multiple different jobs in Customer Service from Account Integrity, Help Desk, Billing, and general Site Administrator. If/When we open up a position the requirements for the job would be listed in the posting. I was not a Moderator before I was hired into the CS team, but the first thing done was take me through Moderator training so that I would be aware of how to handle things on the site, see what is or isn't a violation, get to understand the concerns and desires of the community, and to make sure I had a good grounding in exactly what the culture of Gaia was. We typically only have in-house Staff, not remote sorry. Though with the pandemic we all are working remotely currently, so never say never. biggrin Unfortunately the only volunteers we have are our Moderators and Forum Assistants. Any Staff positions are hired on and paid as such, sorry. We have in the past and I am sure again in the future will send out a notice when we have certain positions open. Keep your eye on Announcements and Staff Notices!

April 28th, 2020: Lanzer ScratchyScalp Art How do you hire your artists/graphic designers? All artists were found through resume submissions, or were simply Gaia users spotted by our artists.
