Reed de Févin "You were my everything."Reed squinted at the ball when the door opened. What was that? A pile of Alan's lab coats? He puckered his lips in surprise when he recognized it as Dana. Wow, she was a total wreck.
Deciding to leave it to Alan, Reed sat on the chair farthest from them, not wanting to intervene. He wasn't even sure if his presence was already ruining things. The band director inhaled sharply when he heard Alan's offer for the hug, shooting him a look that read, 'Don't involve me!' When he looked at Dana he was surprised to see her nod. She wanted a hug from him? She must've really gotten her heart broken. Frowning sympathetically, Reed moved over to be next to them and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her closely. "Your music will live on."

Mayah Playah ☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." The blonde leaned into Reed's hug, whimpering and sniffling like a pathetic child. "H-he said that he really, really liked me," she said, voice shaking and thick. "I don't get it! Am I not attractive?"
"Honestly, not like this," answered Alan, wincing as she smacked him.
"I really liked him, Alan. I still do. But what do I do now?" she whined, burying her face in Reed's chest.
The scientist shrugged, at a loss for words. He'd almost lost Reed before, yes, but they were both very different people. Dana wouldn't be willing to chase after Roy. She was far too proud. "The numbers never lie."

As he gently stroked Dana's back, Reed asked, "So how did you find out about him cheating on you? Did you catch him?""Your music will live on."

"No. We went back to his hotel room after finally getting home, and his two little girlfriends were waiting for him in there. The nerve! Just sitting there, waiting for him to come home so they have a threesome or something! And they're twins, by the way. Isn't that just super gross? How does the sex even work?" She was just rambling now, but anyone could tell she was speaking from a broken heart.
"... Reed, let's go kick his a-s," said Alan suddenly, so irritated he could hardly stand it. No one hurt his precious baby sister. "The numbers never lie."

And they had the nerve to assume that I would be alright with them being the ones to break up with him! Why would that make me feel better?" Dana sighed, sitting upright and covering her face with her hands. "I'm just so upset. How could he not tell me he had girlfriends? What am I, just some easy target?"
"I wouldn't say easy," tried Alan, only to wince as she sobbed. He wasn't as good at this as he thought he was. "The numbers never lie."

 Reed blinked. Playing cards? That's wasn't very... Well he didn't hear about that in cheating stories. Or were they so close that it was casual for them? Then again, they also assumed Dana and her boyfriend would break up... Reed sighed. This was too complicated for his old mind. It also didn't help that Alan was awful at comforting people. Hearing something vibrate, Reed looked over to see Dana's phone lighting up with a phone call. The name on it was Roy. Was that her boyfriend?

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." Still sobbing loudly, the young woman almost didn't notice her cell phone buzzing. Looking down, she blinked twice at the name before sitting rail straight and trying to cease her sniffling. "I don't have to answer it, do I?" she asked.
"Well, no. But I still think you should." Alan reached for the phone, holding it up to her. "I know you're mad and hurting, but you need to hear him out. Just don't let him know you've been crying. Remember what I taught you."
"Don't ever give them the satisfaction of knowing they hurt you," she repeated the age-old lesson, nodding before clearing her throat and answering the phone. "Can I help you?" she asked as coldly as she could. She hoped the ice stung. "The numbers never lie."

" Dana," panted Roy. He sounded tired and sweaty, like he had been running. Or doing something else. " Dana, where are you? I need to explain all this to you." Meanwhile, Reed quirked an eyebrow at the unusual creed. Don't give them the satisfaction? He glanced at Alan, recalling the time he thought the musician was sleeping with the Sex-Ed teacher. Alan was open about his pain and anger.

I saw enough." Dana took a deep breath, holding it for a second before exhaling through her nose. "Look Roy, I don't care if you'd rather be with those girls. I'm not going to stand here and ask you to choose me over them. I just wish you hadn't lied to me all this time."
Alan moved to sit closer to Reed, crossing his arms and watching his sister. "I know, I don't really live by that creed anymore. When I met you, I kind of stopped caring about it. Dana, however, she's too strong to let it go." "The numbers never lie."

There was an audible sigh from the other end. " It's hard to lie when you won't give me a chance to say anything." Roy pointed out. " Look, just stay there so I can go and meet you. What's the address?"

If my brother sees you, he's going to try and fight you, and I'd honestly rather not see that just yet." She looked to Alan, who nodded his consent, then grabbed her jacket and headed out the door with a wave to them both. "The numbers never lie."
