Lawrence Eugene
Wow Hanukkah sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing this. biggrin

I spend Christmas at my grandmother's house, get chocolate on Easter and might have a turkey on thanksgiving. My family's not really into holidays, though, so I don't end up doing much.

My favourite 'holiday' Halloween. I don't care how old I get, I'm dressing up every year (I've never gone trick-or-treating in my life, though, overprotective parents + bad area = no door-to-door. But I still munch on some sweets that day).

I personally do not celebrate holidays. My family does. I take advantage of the holiday meals.

War became a job
And love became a mystery
And heart and head were rent into two

This is a wonderful idea. I have a pretty traditional family, we have Thanksgiving together every year. Turkey, stuffing, the whole deal. In general, it's a lot of fun.

My family is sort of... hesitantly supportive of me, even if they don't all understand yet. This will also be the first time we'll all be together (soon followed by Christmas) that I will be not only openly trans, but also attempting to make my new name more common. They won't all be able to use it right all the time, but I'd love to have them call me their daughter. I'd love to come in on Christmas to a pile of presents that all say "To: Amy"

I suppose I'll keep you all updated on how it goes. Could be great. Could be terrible. Not sure what to expect yet.

Fear and doubt began
And God threw up his hands
And the sky didn't know what to do

I hope everything goes well, PriestessAmy!

I've had some terrible anxiety over this past month (I really ought to get some health insurance already) but I've had a few better days lately. Today I got to bake chocolate muffins for a get-together tomorrow night with my friends. My family is going to an early dinner buffet a big hotel puts on every year, this is what we've done for the past decade or so. My mother has really fond memories of going out for dinner when she was young so this is how she likes to celebrate Thanksgiving. We still make turkey, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, and cranberry sauce the following Saturday. I make the cranberry sauce from scratch myself and it's sooooo tasty. You know it's good when you hear the berries pop!

FINAL EXAM WEEK NOOOOOO!!! After a lousy Halloween and spending Thanksgiving with potentially the WORST migraine I've EVER had I am determined to have a fun Christmas holiday. I have to study hard this week for finals next week, but then I'm off for a month.

I'm going to try to visit some friends I haven't seen in a while, bake a cake from scratch (I've never done a whole cake!), help my mom make some recipes I didn't used to appreciate enough, and totally redo my room! What do others have planned coming up this month?

I'm going to the live broadcast of RiffTrax tonight. They're screening "Santa Claus" which was on MST3K back in the day, which is probably in my top ten films they did in terms of "films that aren't really that bad in comparison" (although Frank Conniff always complained whatever film they were doing that week was the worst one per the Episode Guide). This is how I'm starting my holiday off! I've been miserable lately and when I noticed it was tonight I thought "I need the laughter so badly." No matter how much I have to study before finals, this form of self-care is way more important!

OMG HAPPY 2015 YOU GUISE xd

New Year's Resolutions are a pretty common tradition worldwide, I think. My personal resolution this year -- the first I've ever made, to be honest -- is to be more honest and open about my personal identity, be it gender-related, sexual, religious or otherwise.

I'm glad we've made it this far. emotion_hug

I suppose mine is to keep on keepin' on. 2014 doesn't FEEL like a big step for me, but it was the BIGGEST year in terms of getting my life on track by going back to college for a career, becoming aware of my anxiety issues, and learning to read and listen to the experiences of the less privileged. I want this trend to continue with no more of the stopping or stalling that hindered my self-growth for YEARS.

I also want to lose weight, but who doesn't after all that holiday food? lol I put some weight back on because of stress and laziness in the latter half of 2014. I stress or get bored and eat instead of walking or dancing instead. I don't like getting too curvy because it lacks the androgyny I could achieve (eh, as much as my body type is going to anyway!) if I just cut 20-30 pounds. It's a health issue as well so it's gotta come off!

My final resolution is to remember the great words of Ms. Latrice Royale: "It's OK to make mistakes. It's OK to fall down. Get up, look sickening, and make them EAT IT!"

I hope to be able to start testosterone this year and maybe have top surgery. However, I need to have a stable job and insurance, as I turn 26 in October.

I already saw some stores selling Vappu ("May Day") goods even though it's just one day... :'-D I mean we haven't gotten trough Easter yet.
I heard my sister is visiting home for Easter but I can't make it, though I really don't feel like travelling at the moment anyway.

We usually have the bigger celebrations around Thanksgiving and Christmas and sometimes New Years. My older brother and his girlfriend usually come over for lunch or dinner. 4th of July we usually visit them. And it's usually just us immediate family.

My grandparents (both from my father's and mother's side) have passed on but they never really spent the holidays with us. My father's parents lived in another country ( I've never met them in person) and my mum's...well, lets just say there's a reason why we live in another state far away.

Other things like Valentines Day was basically give candy to each other, Halloween...oh man...that's my favorite holiday of all time. I HAVE to do something big for it every year (even if it's a marathon of a bunch of horror movies and eating candy), Easter we get candy or small Easter baskets.

My family is Catholic but I am Wiccan and a witch so I celebrate holidays like Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, etc. but usually with a small ritual and offering.
