Rather than carry on this argument any further in the chatterbox I would like to put this out as as a poll and get the guild's opinion on the matter. With the Beta system as it is, you only get stat and skill points from leveling up. While fair and equal it means that no matter how much work you put into your character you are equal to everyone else of the same level, and those of you who have ever done stat or skill training at all, or didn't start from the ground up will be losing points The other option is that we keep the system (and our hard earned points) as is. This means that you can train when there is nobody around to interact with and that some of the jutsu with more obscure requirements will continue to be used in the guild. It also means that a clear line will be drawn between veterans and newbies. Because hard work should pay off. I will leave the poll up for 30 days.

Kind of obvious that I would vote against this since I'm the one who initially suggested we remove them. I understand your point; but I still think we're better off without the training of stat and skill points. And I am saying this probably as one of the people who has done the most of these if not the one who has done the most of it in this guild. Something's always felt a bit off about them...
You can't really interact while doing this, unlesss you really wanna spend three months on a single training, grading system changes from one place to the next and frustrates certain people, no one ever wants to review them, grading system is kind of arbitrary, etc.
I had thought about this issue though and I had had two ideas for the beta system to be implemented eventually once we had had a chance to discuss everything.
First was to have characters who level have a perk to choose from from a list (like in Fallout or other similar games), something that people who make a character from scratch would only have the benefit of from the moment they start levelling their characters. These perks could be various modest effects, such as an additional stat point to distribute this level, 5 additional skill points, 5% reduced chakra cost on a single jutsu, or things of the sort. I thought it would even be cool to have clan or contract specific perks eventually. But, given that we have more than enough work just launching this thing; I was going to bring this idea up for discussion later.
Second thing was about using the currency from the missions and loot to buy physical alterations, specialized traning and weapon improvements. This way characters who earn money through missions will have amassed these upgrades and have a significant advantage on scratch characters from their level.
I understand the frustration though since I just tried to see how Hiru would like with this new system; and it pretty muc cut all of his stats by half. Still, what I liked about it is that the lower stats would make any jutsu, technique or tactic more effective since it makes for a lot less jacked up stats if you want your character to be adapted for various situations, something I noticed while we were doing the test run in Iwa. Plus, I do believe having less people go on hiatus to go train alone and more involved in going out in the field and helping others as encounters will ultimately work in favor of keeping things interesting.
I suggest we keep arguing to a minimum here. People just vote and say why you voted as you did. Arguments have always been a plague in this guild and the primary source of our legendary bleeding of members... sweatdrop
We love you no matter what you vote!

I voted for the new system. My reasons being that it's fun to try something new and I feel that the system we have now do not allow alot of interaction between eachother. Which is the most important part for me. Not the leveling and the jutsus but the character development between yourself and your character, as well as the unfolding of events between other characters. The new system, with the manga based RPing style, would also cause more and faster replies to each other. Which is nice. 3nodding

I'm for the new system, but I disagree with having your higher level characters change over to Konoha with the new rules. I for one could do it without much fuss with Sakurayuki because frankly, it probably won't make that much of a difference, but I know how much hard work you've put into this all. I voted for it just to say I'd like to keep your characters intact. It's not fair to cut everything back, and I think newbies would understand as well.

I actually haven't even read into the new system yet...
So it's cuts out training? I ******** hated training, killed my ability to be creative.
If we are, then I am all for the new system. As long as the leveling up does give a little more skill/stat points to spread around, like 15 instead of 10, or something. Yeah?
Though people's stats should be kept as is... they earned them, they keep them.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind it if Leveling up got you like 4 stat points and 12 skill points, but freshly made characters got the base amount and 3x level for stat points and 10x level skill points so that leveling up still has meaning. And I like Hiru's idea of being able to buy stat/skill upgrades since it would give Ryo meaning. Half the missions I have gone on forgot Ryo was even a thing.

Could get stat boosting clothing, and such.

I have to agree as well, training tended to make the game a serious slog.
There's only so many ways you described how you punched a dummy, before beating your head into the keyboard, deciding that the post that came out of that was good enough, and submitting that.
Just to make sure because I haven't been paying attention but there will still be training for jutsu correct? That sort of training is fairly important to the series.

Well I know I've been absent and haven't attempted this 'new style' from what I gather, I dislike it. Yeah, training sucks, but wah. It builds character(haha I made a funny). And as far as character interaction... it doesn't look to be helping. Just because you change the setup, doesn't mean people will interact with each other. You need incentive. I had no problem interacting with my fellow peers in Oto (when I was here) and yes, it made it more fun. Taking the training out drains the life pit of the character and I believe goves less incentive to interact. All you would be waiting on is missions and waiting for that one person to respond... what do you do in the mean time?
Character interaction will always be an issue, especially with new members. Training allows those new members to learn the basics of the d20 system. I joined this guild for that, and that is also why I returned. I'm in love with the old set-up and will go for it hands down all the way. I guess if you take out training, what would you do in the academy as well? To me, this is a no. I would like to open Oto again and get back into the swing, but it's going back to what I love, and that's 3rd person semi-lit to literate roleplaying using the d20 system that works.
EDIT: wow... I had to fix my errors or look like i couldnt spell xD thats what i get for posting on my phone lol
