Étoile put on his morning coffee and pulled on his lab coat. It was nice to be in a geo lab again, even if it was a makeshift one in his own home. Thomas, as always, had been kind enough to provide him with supplies to set up a working lab. Étoile smiled as he thought about his good friend. Even with very little to work with himself, he went out of his way to help a friend. Étoile had become intent on repaying that kindness, and helping his friend in anyway he could. He fished a flash drive out of his pocket and plugged it into his computer's USB port. As the information uploaded, he poured himself a cup of coffee.

Roll was told by her Father to check in with his friend as well as offer her aid in some way. The female bot walked into the place after a gentle knock, she peeked around the corner and let out a soft sound.
"Oh! Good Morning! Father sent me to help you." she said as she came into full view.

Étoile choked on his coffee. He hadn't been expecting any visitors. He turned quickly to see what appeared to be a little girl. Father sent....? OH! She must be one of Light's! "Good morning! You startled me a bit." He laughed. "At the moment, I'm just uploading some information I 'borrowed' from Wily," He looked thoughtful for a moment, remembering the encounter he'd had with Protoman. Shaking his head he turned his attention back to his guest. "I'm sorry, I didn't ask you your name. I'm Étoile, Dr. Light probably already told you," he held out his hand to her.

Roll walked up to the male and took his hand, " Yes. I'm Roll. Its nice to meet you Mr. Étoile." the slender bot blinked, borrowed...oh! He must of gotten the information through other means. She giggled, "Yes. Father has told me a little, but I don't mind hearing more. I like hearing stories."

"Well Roll, I have a lot of stories from working with your father back when people still worked in the mines outside of town before Wily took over," he told her with a grin. "We worked together to create new alloys to build better machinery, which is what I hope to do again, although I doubt the machinery will be used for mining this time," He checked the status of the data upload. Still going. Good. "In the hall, I believe I left a bag with some new ore samples that have yet to be analyzed. Why don't we start there?" He finished his cup of coffee with one last gulp. They really wouldn't be able to do much with the samples without a mass spectrometer, but there where a few other tests they could do.

Étoile laughed. “You don’t have to call me ‘sir’, ‘Étoile’ is fine,” He’d really never been one for formality. Occasionally someone opted to just call him ‘doctor’ because they had trouble pronouncing his name, even though he never thought it that difficult to pronounce. “Let’s bring them into my new lab here and see if we can’t do some preliminary identification tests. These samples came from an unidentified rocky area inside the mines recently. They seem to be metallic, but the metal doesn’t quite match any previous ore we’ve discovered.” He led her to the lab where the previous night he had set up a fume hood out of a fan stuck in a ceiling hole pumping air outwards.

Roll smiled warmly, "Étoile. Its a lovely name." she followed his lead and set the samples where the elder directed. The female made a thoughtful sound, "A whole new sort of metal. Maybe it an be harvested for the better of the City." she chirpped.

"Thank you. It's French for 'star'," he told her pointing to a table for her to set the samples on. He reached onto a bookshelf he had partly set up the night before and searched for a fresh notebook. He found one in a pile next to the bookcase. He'd need to finish that later. "OK, let me see," he said half to himself. He pulled a pen from his coat pocket and made a few quick notes. "Alright, always good to start with the time, date, and persons involved," he told Roll setting the notebook on the table with them. "First we can weigh our samples, then do some grindability tests to gauge their hardness and compare it with past samples from the data bank," he pulled an electronic scale out of a cabinet and zeroed it out. "Would you like to weigh or write?" he asked smiling. SwordOfTheDarkOnes Quick note: All measurements will be in the SI system.

Roll thought about it, "I'll write. Father always said it was better to learn by seeing. So, I'll watch you and as you explain I'll write. If I make any mistakes I'm sure you'll help me fix them."

"Ok then," Étoile handed Roll the notebook and pen, then placed a small dish onto the scale, then zeroed it again. Once the monitor read as zero, he carefully placed the few chunks of ore onto the scale and waited. Alright, sample one is five grams. Pretty light for it's size." he noted. He did the same for the other samples reading off the measurements as he went, zeroing out between each sample. Ok, that's it for that portion, now let's see what we can see under the microscope, then I have a few chemical tests we can do as pretests before I can somehow get these samples to some more specialized machinery.

PurpleDragonsGems Did you want someone to crash this? I got a few ideas >> Roll nodded as she wrote the proper measurements down and smiled. She enjoyed this, helping others and generally enjoying her time outside. She hummed. "Sounds fun. Thank you for letting me help here. I'm enjoying myself..."

Étoile smiled as he let up his microscope. "Not the most powerful piece of equipment, but maybe it will give us some information," He stopped and thought for a moment. Where did he put those slides...oh! in his other bag. "I'll be back in a moment, the glass slides are in the other room,"
