This is a totally awesome idea! I think I will definitely write a letter!
I think I rambled a little. I tried to stick to the task at hand xD But, heres my letter.
To whom it may concern,
Under better circumstances, it would be a pleasure to make your acquaintance. My name is Ash and I am a current user on Gaiaonline.com under the username ashlex_in_pearl. I have been a member since a friend sent me a link to the site back in 2008, as a better way for us and the group we were apart of to talk to each other. I stuck around with the site because it was unique. It had a better feel than any normal forum and the storyline definitely made it fun! All of the NPC's that lived in Gaia, it was so cool to see them interact in the storyline and see how they became what they were!
Since then, I had been on and off until about 2011 when I joined up with E-CORP and learned a little more about the site, learning about the Easter Bunny. It was terrible to see that such an awesome character could just be tossed aside after being created. It was maddening! The group did everything they could to get him back into the story, and they succeeded, and then some! Today, there are so many signs and evidence that what they did, what WE did, really made a difference on the site! It shows that everyones opinion really does matter. And for all of that success, I thank the ones who made it possible, the ones who helped to get the Easter Bunny back for us.
This may not necessarily be you, the one reading. It most likely isn't. The staff has changed, the ones we see so often, and it really shows.
There has been the uproar lately that the manga, the actually storyline of this world created by YOU, will be ending for good. I would like to express my feelings to you about this. And the fact that you made this decision based ENTIRELY off the results of a goldsink. And this is just by my speculation.
I was not even aware that one of the tiers was the deciding factor in the manga. In fact, I remember reading it as MORE manga to be added. NOWHERE on it did it say that this would be the deciding factor as to whether it would continue or not. What you said was if we wanted to see more.
Lets go back to the goldsink, or rather one of them. You all pump out so many items a day (bad items and recolors at that, but, I digress from my opinion) because people buy them. Of course they will buy them. But then, you started with the gold generators. For a while it seemed alright, but the CONSTANT release of them is affecting everyone. I look at the site now and think “If I were new to this site, right now, I would NOT stick around. This feels like a corporate scam.” You all used to listen to the users, listen to our opinions. But, now you just throw constant advertisements for the same stuff over and over and over again to get us to buy your items. I'll be honest, I do still buy Gaia Cash, but usually just for the Monthly Collectibles.
At any rate, the storyline is the very backbone of the site. There is no reason you should take it away. If you would give your artists a break from recoloring the same item in 10 bland colors, then they could have a little fun for once, writing another story about the people of Gaia.
LISTEN to your customers. Since you took away the Ask the Admin, you haven't been able to hear anything they have to say. I doubt you all even look at the feedback forum. Do the right thing, don't take the storyline away just because you can't make money off of it. Gaia is a place for fun for everyone. I don't know what I would do without Gaia the way it used to be. I used to look forward to the events, to planning threads and contests with the community. But, nowadays, its such a drag. Please, just listen to me. Don't take the story away. It's not your story to take. It's Gaia's story. And there is so much more to discover in this beautiful, strange, little world we have. Don't destroy the one good thing we still have.
I would like to offer for anyone who doesn't feel comfortable or can not send a letter if you tell me what you want written I can send a letter for you on your behalf. 3nodding
