Real life. We met in high school, currently a few years into college and about to go study abroad together. About to hit 4 years in less than a month. (:

Both? We met online and were long distance for about a year. We had a month long visit within that year, were apart for about 6-7 months afterwords, I stayed with him for about a year, and he lives with me now.
So we started online as friends, became long distance, and now we're close distance.
There is a difference between "dating" online and being in a long distance relationship though. When dating online you never see each other and the 'relationship' usually doesn't extend outside the internet. Being long distance you are very much in a relationship and see them occasionally if possible, you just live far apart but have every intention of being with them and closing that distance.

I used to date online but I was very sad, because i couldn't hug him or kiss him. I was filled with anxiety and we ended up breaking up. I did like him so much, I don't hate him now I care about him. I miss him alot we are still good friends, though : )
Now I have a boyfriend we live close by and it is so much better for me heart i feel a lot happier, and i think he is a rather handsome chap, funny, and rather weird hahah!! But I love him, he is cool haha pirate

I met my current boyfriend through facebook. We found out that he was actually in my PE class when he was a senior and I was a sophomore. We started dating the summer after he graduated high school. We've been dating for a little over 5 years now. I moved into an apartment with him about a month ago.
When I was in high school, I preferred internet relationships in general because I was so shy. I hardly talked to anyone and it was just easier for me to communicate without actually seeing the person. Now that I'm older and have matured and grown, I prefer the IRL relationships.

My "dating" life sucked from the ages of 12 to 22.
I'm now past dating and well into "committed relationship" IRL, thank goodness.

I'm not in a committed relationship, but any and all of my dating is in real life. I would rather not have sex than look for it on the internet. I also don't really understand the idea of an internet "relationship." It sounds more like pen pals or best friends. I have those in real life, too, though of course most of our relationships technically exist over text message, seeing each other every couple of weeks or so. But that's adulthood.
I am actually afraid of making an online dating profile, because my ex used to stalk my old one, but that's a different story.

My current relationship started when we met online, did the long distance thing for about a year. Thankfully we were close enough (6 hrs away) that we saw each other about once a month. Now its in person all the time as i've moved in two months ago.
