So I'm making a new character (Daxirren) who's lived in the Weyr his whole life and am looking for people to have known and interacted with him throughout his life. Below is a list of what he was doing at what times and such. Anyone that would be interested in having a character know him just drop a message here, via Pm, carrier pigeon what have you and we can hash something out.

181 - 192 - Hanging about, being a Weyrbrat and such. No current plans to have had him fostered, but if anyone wants to change that give a shout.

193 - 194 - Candidate bootcamp

194 - 196 - Squired. Squiremaster position available if anyone has a char old enough. Was typical wanting to be top rider so higher wing individuals would be what he wanted, but he doesn't get a say in it biggrin

196 - Stands for Evmeth's maiden clutch. Impresses green Naraleth

196 - 1st turn of pass - Graduates, goes about rider business as is norm.

1 - Naraleth dies of serious thread scoring after breaking rank to try and save someone else and getting caught in another patch. Daxirren is injured, but survives with no lasting injuries.

1 - Present - Daxirren spirals into depression, takes to drinking. Shuts himself off for several months in a little den of pity. After a long while begins to emerge back into Weyr society and such. Still has slips and problems, but can function in day to day life. At current he did this because of dealing with grief and such, but if anyone wants a character to have assisted in either coaxing/dragging him out of his pit that would be great.

Future: Hoping to get him into wherhandling, so if a char wants to take responsibility for putting this idea in his head then that's cool. It can be someone he's known in the past or someone new he's gonna meet in the present.

Personality wise he was very sure of himself, boarding on arrogant before Naraleth's death. Was the typical 'I'm gonna be the very best, like no one ever was' jack the lad type. Did well in practical aspects of training and such, but wasn't as good on theory and academic learning due to rather short attention span. Obviously his confidence is now severely dented and he is now far more reserved that he used to be.

I APPROVE OF THIS BACKSTORY WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

Shylla was really involved in her first clutch, especially with the High Reaches weyrbrats, so Daxirren would have definitely received some attention! She can tolerate ego as long as its got the work ethic to match, but if he were to ever slack off he probably got an earful about hard work leading to positive results. Losing riders in 1 is what leads Shylla to use Command on the weyrlings later on, so Naraleth's death would also have been a huge blow to her as well. She's a mama bear in many regards, and would have checked in on Dax at various intervals, try to pull him out of his slump, and she would definitely encourage him to take up wherhandling. Shylla regards her weyrlings fondly, and she is their number one advocate, so she would have pompoms waving for him no matter what he chose to do.

And L'ssa would have been old enough to act as his squiremaster, if you'd like, though she certainly isn't a 'model rider' and was just starting to get her act together around the 194-196 time frame. She would have liked his spark and pushed his athletic and fighting abilities, emphasizing that booksmarts means nothing compared to a sharp wit and a strong gut feeling, and even those pale compared to fast reflexes. She also had some in and outs with alcoholism, so even if she doesn't act as his squiremaster, she could maybe offer a few words of advice? Don't ever expect her to remember his name, though, she's horrible with names. She might take to calling him Dax, but that's as close as it'll ever get.

M'ere and Tarazeth would have been their clutchmates - I can see them getting on like a house on fire (and possibly burning something down). Either that or competitive squabbling - Tarazeth could never ever ever resist a challenge or contest to be the best. In the aftermath of losing Naraleth, she'd have been around at the very least if they were on reasonable terms, though she's less... comforty and more aggressively cheerful. She'd disappear for a while if she were lashed out at, but probably reappear eventually pretending that it never happened.

I think L'ssa would have made a good squiremaster for him. It's unlikely with his likelyhood to ignore the more theory based aspects of his training that he'd have been picked by the first wing. I think a Bronzerider in 3-1 would have made him quite pleased. He was on the bronze is better train at the time. xd Dax as a name is perfectly fine, although after graduation teen-him would have stubbornly insisted on being called D'xir.

I'd like to think that given the current situation for him they'd have remained on pleasant terms and I'm totally open to her potentially having helped him out of the constant alcohol dependency if you think that's something she'd have done.

Now onto Shylla. I like the idea of her trying to get him to work harder during Weyrlinghood on the less physical parts and him coming to view her as this sort of irritating (to him anyway) mother hen-esk figure trying to get him to his fullest potential.

I'm not sure how he'd have viewed her using Command, but something tells me he probably wasn't aware enough to really acknowledge it when it actually happened. I think he'd sympathise with her, but still see why what she did was wrong. She's welcome to have tried to get him out of his slump, but in the early stages he may have shut her out since Evmeth was Naraleth's mother and the pair of them would probably make him think of Weyrlinghood too much. He'd have gradually let her back, but there may have been unkind words said in the time between.

She can be the one to suggest wherhandling to him if you like.

How's a friendly rivalry sound for those two? I quite like a continual struggle for who could spare the best, who's green was the fastest etc. I think her attempt to be cheerful would have earned her a lashing out at from Daxirren, but I think once he managed to reign himself in he would probably seek her out to apologise, if she hadn't reappeared by that point and if she had he'd probably make a point to apologise even if she wanted to pretend it didn't happen.

I like the idea of that 8D And definitely Tarazeth would be 100% into the competition - and I can imagine them doing ridiculous stuff to see who can do it better.

I suspect she'd disagree that he had anything to apologise about, because shards, dude lost his dragon! He's got a right to be a little mad at people. But she'd probably take it in the spirit it was intended.
