Okay, so I haven't let the pebble out of my sight since I got it. Except for about two minutes yesterday when I set it down to get Cyrus cleaned up - he'd gotten all messy eating his lunch Anyway, I turned around for maybe two minutes, and the next thing I know he's got it in his hands about to eat it! I don't even want to begin to think how I would've explained that.

"Hi, remember that pebble I bought the other day? Well, my son ate it."

Right. That would've gone over splendidly, I'm sure.

I've been thinking of names for the Skull Monkey once it hatches. I'm thinking of calling it Zephyr if it's a girl, and I've got no clue what I'll do if it's a boy. Maybe Clyde... I suppose I'll have to wait until he or she hatches.

Jiora yawned lazily, rolling over on the couch and stopping just short of falling off. It'd been a tiring day - taking Cyrus to the park a few times and spending both times running around trying to keep him from falling into the lake. She sighed and opened one eye, glancing towards the end table she'd left the pebble on.

The pebble wasn't there.

Pause. Gasp.

She sat bolt upright, glancing wildly around the room at her various pets. It couldn't have been Cyrus this time - she'd put him to bed nearly an hour ago! The park had left the poor little guy tuckered out.. But..none of her other pets would take the pebble, or - the gods forbid - eat it, would they?

Panic mode instated.

She shot up from the couch, proceeding to ransack her living room and interrogate various pets in search of the pebble. "You! Did you take the pebble?!" The poor digiki she'd snatched up simply blinked and chirred happily at her, giving her a friendly lick on the nose before squirming away.

Jiora spun towards another pet, pausing when she heard a soft giggling coming from behind the couch. Odd... The voice didn't sound very familiar... She frowned and turned that way, slowly inching closer.

"I sa~aw a purple pe~enguin," trilled a female voice.

She peered over the back of the couching, arching a brow at the blue ball of fluff curled up behind it. The...skull monkey...? The Skull Monkey!! "Zephyr...?"

The skull monkey rolled onto her back and peered curiously up at the woman. "Momma."

Jiora could only grin stupidly as she reached down to lift the fuzzball into her arms.

So. Zephyr emerged from her pebble a few days ago. I'm a bit surprised that she's able to talk as well as she does. I know some of the other skull monkey infants can't, but Zeph doesn't seem to have any problem with it. She doesn't always get her sentences right, but she speaks well enough to get her point across.

She seems to like making noise. Not music - noise. The kind of noise that wakes Cyrus up from his nap because Zephyr's dragged out the pots and pans and begun to bang on them with a wooden spoon. The kind of noise that sets my pets off on a howl-fest because she's turned the bass on the radio all the way up and everything else all the way down so the entire manor practically vibrates with the sound. That kind of noise.

She's obviously very bright for her age. I mean, she's only a few days old and she can work the radio? Kindof. She did get rather upset when she couldn't figure out how to turn the volume back down to a reasonable level. It certainly will be interesting raising her. As a matter of fact, I'd better go make sure she's not getting into more trouble now...

Jiora yawned lazily as she flipped through the pages of a magazine - did the purple dress look nicer, or the black...? They'd have to match the shoes though... She flipped back for another look at them.

Cyrus was curled up nearby, a look of contentment on his face as he scribbled happily in a coloring book. His tail twitched lazily behind him, smacking T'kio, the ferrus, across the muzzle every now and then.

Jiora glanced up for a moment, blinking when she realized she didn't see Zephyr anywhere - hadn't she been here just a moment before? The woman sighed and stood up, dropping her magazine onto the cushion she'd been sitting on. "I'll be right back, Cy."

The boy barely even looked up as his mother left the room.

It wasn't long before the familiar sound of pots and pans being ruthlessly pounded on reached her ears, though it was at least muffled this time. Jiora sighed and pushed the kitchen door open, grimacing and crossing the room to the young skull monkey sitting amidst a crowd of kitchenware.

Zephyr squealed in surprise when the red-eyed woman plucked the spoons she'd been using as drumsticks from her paws and toppled over backwards as she tilted her head back to look up at her. "Ma!"

A weary smile. "Yes, Zephyr. It's me. And you know you're in trouble, right?"

The skull monkey glanced about for a moment as though looking for someone to place the blame on, despite having been caught red-handed. "Uh..yah."

"Right then. You aren't getting any desert tonight."

Cue the lip quivering and watery eyes. Zephyr attached herself to her mother's leg, chattering up at her in pleading tones. Jiora simply sighed and shook her head, slowly making her way around the kitchen with the girl still clinging to her leg.

Tomorrow, she was ordering headphones. Headphones and CDs filled with drumming. Maybe that would put an end to these late night noise making sessions.

Okay, so last night I decided to order some headphones for Zephyr and pick up some CDs of drumming. I figure the loud noises would be something she'd like, and it might help keep her from abusing my pots and pans.

Only, I realized today that I haven't got the faintest idea where to look for CD's of nothing but drumming. I don't think any of the stores I know about carry the stuff. That puts a bit of a damper on my plan, I think. She's still getting the headphones though - she'll just have to settle for the radio, is all.

In other news, it seems she had a growth spurt overnight. And found a skull. ...I really don't want to ask where she managed to find a skull on my property - I prefer to believe that my grounds are skeleton free, thank you very much. Though she certainly does seem proud of herself. And she's so cute!

Taking Cyrus to a museum of natural history today. I'll probably write an entry in his journal about it later. I tried to talk Zephyr into going, but she just wasn't interested.

I decided to let her stay home with Jaclyn instead - the freeloader didn't want to go either. Jaclyn mentioned something about taking a trip to the beach... I'm not sure Zeph likes the water much.. I'll have to ask them how it goes when they get back.
