Rath looked out at the rest of the group and raised his voice so they could hear him clearly. "Diverting from our plan could cause serious consequences... I have to go... but you do not. This is an important decision... It could change everything. As I have just relinquished my leadership, I cannot decide for you, nor can I make you follow this Sentrian's lead. To those in Cloak, your mission is complete; you have no further obligations." Rath looked to the ground. "...Just think carefully before deciding."

In truth, he wanted the help. He just couldn't ask for it; not because of any pride, but because of duty. Going to help Songhua would mean prolonging the war and that was not a decision he could make as leader of that group. Everybody would have to make their own choice.

The blacksmith had been keeping an ear over things while the others were going about their duty. War was one of the good times for him when it came to weapons. He could make plenty of sales. This wasn't even his first time having to fight though. Just from what he saw though, there was going to eb plenty more to be coming.

"If I may." He said, turning his attention to Rath. "You are right about that - those of Cloak have no further obligations. However, going alone to help your fellow comrade is a little risky wouldn't you say? Especially with no one to back you up." No, this was his own choice to make on this.

"It would leave a bad taste in my mouth if we watched you going off all alone like that. That is why I have a proposal - take a small group of us to go along with you, while the others remain with the main force."

Fire Dragon

A stranger to FD had just made a proposal to split the group in two. The dragon was against it; they were not exactly high in numbers to begin with. To divide into even small numbers would make both groups less likely to be successful in whatever they tried. But one objective had much more immediate consequences than the other, the way FD saw it. Songhua’s people were in obvious and immediate mortal danger. Could the same honestly be said for Sentria after the battle they had all just partook in with undead? Undead people! Seriously. How are people not reacting more strongly to this?

It is also very worth noting that when this mission was presented to the guild, the Sentrian’s were the ones said to be hired. “Last night, a mercenary group from Sentria that we hired arrived in Eyris." That was announced to the public, by Rath. If the Sentrians were hired, why, then had Rath and Amir spoken as they had? Shouldn't the mercenaries be readily willing to adjust to their employer’s changing circumstances and priorities? Something clearly was not as it seemed. Maybe if people wanted this to turn out well, some dish neeeded to spill, yo'.

“Our numbers are no so plentiful that can divide ourselves without compromising what we are able to accomplish as a whole. Whatever we all feel and decide, I cannot heavily enough suggest we remain united as a group.”

If splitting up could not be helped however, FD thought the most productive thing would be for Rath and Sue, Julia, and himself to travel posthaste to aid Songhua with Kalilah. FD was a one-man army in many ways. And transformed, he and Julia could fly back to the main group, Rath and Sue also naturally being the most competent at travel by their mounts in good time as well. He did not suggest this division aloud, though; everyone committing to one mission and then the other would be ideal. Which objective demanded absolute immediate attention was obvious. They could help Songhua and then continue on to Sentria. They could not go to Sentria and then come back to help in Adliana.

Was Kalilah going to speak up to implore aid for her tribe, who's lives could literally on the line the longer this group took to decide their next course of action?

O Father Sky, Mother Earth...
I pray that you give me strength.

While the others were engaged in conversation, Sue kept to herself. Although she sat in close proximity to Roy in the interest of sharing company with a comrade, she had her breakfast in silence. She couldn't think of much to say, and the recent battles with the undead left her exhausted. She remembered facing these kinds of opponents before. Back when a terrible winter storm raged through Learania, the dead rose from their graves with sharpened, sometimes poison claws.

"Whoever is behind this is both strong and organized." she thought. And whoever it was carried some serious magical firepower. They could not be taken lightly.

Because she'd remained quiet and reflective, Sue listened to all the conversations happening. When Rath spoke up and asked the group, as a whole to make their decision, it would not be an easy choice to make. The guild members had a job, the one in front of them, but they also had a comrade in need of immediate help.

Sue wanted to make it simple, and stick to the mission. She wanted to appear as if her emotions were not conflicted, as if the decision was easy. She wanted to appear strong to the rest of the guild, and look as if she were not ruled by her personal feelings.

But then, she remembered. She could hear Songhua's hearty laugh, she could picture his smile. If she acted, could she hear that laugh again? If she went with her father, could she protect that smile? It was Sue's emotions that led her to act during Rogvold's usurping of Eyris. It was her bravery and her strength that allowed her to protect Rath in his time of need. Father Sky and Mother Earth were with her. Her comrades had helped, sure enough, but part of it came from Sue's own determination.

She set her bowl aside, standing from where she rested. "I'm riding to Adliana as well." she said. "I know that we shouldn't let our feelings get in the way of what we have to do. But this time, I think personal is just the same as important. At least some of us have to aid Songhua. He is our friend and to me, another member of my tribe."

That was all she had to say, all she needed to say. Normally she stated the Law of Sacae, that all Nomads came to ride in the aid of their brothers. But this wasn't because of some rule that was made long before Sue was born. She made this decision because she felt was the right thing to do.

"...If I may."

A rather nervous sounding voice spoke up from the crowd, most silent in their pondering with the option just set down at their laps. "We came here to help end a stalemate correct? Well...Our job isn't done until we've secured that position. Cloak isn't finished here, and my job isn't here. The influence of the undead has been seen first hand, and I cannot stand for it, even if I wasn't officially ordained."

Julia, who had not been sitting far from the cleric, jabbed a finger in the way of Kalilah as she continued to go about her thing. "I'm with the sister on this one-" She gave a preemptive glare in Rin's direction to stop any correction from her before continuing on. "Plus this one will never let me here the end of it, otherwise."

The fact that they would drop their goals to go help somebody they barely knew... whether the right choice or not in the long run... spoke volumes. And Rath would not forget it.

As for the guild members, the fact that so many of them quickly spoke up to go help really meant a lot. He knew it was Songhua's sake, rather than his own, but that didn't matter. Songhua was all that mattered.

Rath turned around and hid a thankful grin from everyone. "...I agree with the fire dragon. We don't have the man-power to split our forces. You're all free to do as you please... but those who intend to come with me... ready your things. We leave within the hour."
