For me it started as a family practice and then I branched out.

I first became interested in Magik when I was a child. I used to have those cheap magic kits, at least gifted one each birthday. After we moved into the new house, up in the suburbs where I now live, I wanted to do more than just parlor tricks. I started researching about it, trying to find out as much as I could. From age 11-15, I was mildly involved with learning real magik, but I never found a place in any covens, I figured it was because I was too young.
At age 18, I decided to combine my talent for natural healing, divination, and my experience with magik in a way I could understand. Now 19, I've found shamanism as a path for me to take. It's been a rocky journey, but I feel I've made progress.

(If this wasn't what the topic was about, I apologize sweatdrop )

it just seemed to fit in my life

Sorry if this is rambling and not quite on topic.
It was something that was always there, even subconsciously. A few months ago I learned about pantheism, and it blew my mind how well it fit with the way I view god even when I thought I was christian and especially when I thought I was atheist. I always liked the tarot and wanted a deck; my friend had one that she brought in to school and we would occasionally talk about witchcraft. In high school I learned about alchemy and felt something right about it. It was the first time I consciously researched anything occult, but eventually I put it aside as I got busy with school and getting ready for college. It wasn't until my second year of college that I came in contact with occult ideas again, and became serious about it - it's just what fits. Basically it's that feeling of "this what I'm supposed to be doing."

Well, what happened was, I always felt some kind of energy or presence. I didn't know what it was at first, but as I wandered through life, things decided to set in place. I would be attracted to magical things all the time. Symbolic jewelry with wiccan symbols, oils and incense. I started getting the idea that my path was to get closer to these things. smile So, I did. I started learning a lot.
