Notices

NOTICE A: After reading this thread be sure you read The Glossary (Which I will link here once finished)

NOTICE B: The Rituals mentioned in the "core Occult rituals thread" being the Rituals of the Pentagram, Hexagram, Septagram, Octagram, Nonagram and Dodekagram are of complex ceremonial magic(k) which require a knowledge of Kabbalah, the manipulation of forces, currents and entities and an understand of the "Ceremonial World-View Thread". They are not to be taken lightly, being part of a rigorous training of first degree mastery. I will eventually be adding more to those threads so that those without a ceremonial background will be able to transition.

NOTICE C: Be sure to introduce your-selfs in the intro thread or in the intro-thread or the check in (or some other such discussion thread) to let us know who you are. Also, if you wish for the guild to be active please quote us instead of hitting reply so that we know you are attempting to communicate. Thanks.

Rules

This group is primarily for those of Traditional Craft where it be of the British Isles, The Irish homeland, or the Mountains of Appalachia among others. The practitioners of the traditions likely to be represented here may or may not refer to their way as Wicca but herein is the genesis thereof.

Also welcome are those who strive to preserve the "Old Ways" of their people- even if they would be far from home here.

I. This group serves the mysteries first and foremost. Those who bicker hardly have time to seek the mysteries.

II. Do not covet thy neighbors praxis. Cultural Appropriation will not be tolerated. Being inspired by and learning from other cultures is fine, and we are the summation of all our experiences. There is nothing wrong with being eclectic but if you do not know the roots of a practice you will abuse it.

III. Wicca, like many traditions, is defined by practice. That practice is dependent upon a di-theism. There are two points to this. a) It's natural to feel closer to one one side of the dual-gender-ed "God-head" than the other but Wicca is not a feminist political movement. b) Wicca never absolutely defines what a "God" is. Wicca is theistic but a Wiccan may be atheistic because it's about being in relationship with your tradition- not being a mere image of it. There is both a personal and communal journey. Ponder this.

IV. Wicca is a term that predates the religion of Wicca as we know it today. There are other lines than Gardner's (as in Gardnerians and their offspring. Other lines were involved prior to and during Gardners reformation back when "the Wica" was non-specified Sabbatic Craft) that were/are of "The Wica"- which denoted at the time, not individuals who instead called themselves Witches, but the group egreore and community. Wiccan as not at that point of time used to denote a follower of Wicca like it is today. this can be confusing when reading older texts, but now you know. Gardner traded initiations between those of his line and others, with the witchcraft of the day being more diverse than how people today tend to think of the era. Wicca comes out of traditional British/Irish Craft, fam-trads and cunning(wo)men traditions with various levels of Ceremonial practice here and there. Trad-Crafters may or may not associate with the term, as is their right. Those bashing those of Chochrane's line and various other lines will not be tolerated.

V. Initiation comes first and foremost from the gods/mystery. There is no such thing as self-initiation and no witch is an initiator except by proxy. There are two types of initiation- a) an initiatory experience into the mysteries themselves and b) an initiation into a group/family/coven. These are not the same and arguing about them is about redundant. the Three-degree structure has it's virtue - consider it within both types of initiation.

These be the five points of rule- may they be ever five.
