"Oh. Well, yes, I agree that they aren't terribly useful. I get tired of doing useful things all the time, though, don't you? Well then, what's the most useful book you've read recently?" Well, hopefully she didn't come off as completely frivolous, but she did like her adventures now and then. All the things she couldn't bring herself to do... yet.
"I've just realized," she continued, following that train of thought, and hoping to distract him with a question, as he'd seemed rather anxious. "There's not much here I haven't seen yet, but I've never really been outside the walls of the castle grounds. Have you?" She wondered what she'd find, how dangerous it was. She brushed a lock of her short hair out of her face, wondering vaguely just how short it would have to be before it would stop falling in her eyes.

"Most useful?" the Heron repeated. "Well, the book I just returned, an old history, was fairly useful in parts. There were bits that did not seem too relevant, though, and it was irritating to sift through those." He leaned a bit closer across the table as though sharing a secret and added, "That is what I enjoy about fiction. Mystery stories to be exact. Nothing is pointless in those stories, because it all leads to justice being done in the end."
As for venturing outside the castle, well, Ardea realized he had never tried it before. "I have not really felt a need to venture from the castle yet," he admitted. "Though I suppose it might be valuable for me to do so eventually, so I will have more to write about."
