Hello!
The bellow spoiler was just what my last thread was about (I decided to recycle this thread rather than making another.)

I've been scouring the internet for new recipes for making bath salts. But I can't seem to find recipes for some of my oils. The oils I have are: Eucalyptus, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass, Lime, Patchouli, Peppermint, Pine, Rosemary, Spearmint, Sweet Orange, Tangerine and Tea Tree.

What recipes/blends do you use for your spa creations? So far I've tried out peppermint with sweet orange which was nice. What are your favorite blends and why? biggrin

Hello everyone~
This is one of my first posts in this guild.

I've been experimenting with bath salts because I just adore them. The aromatherpy and hot water makes me feel really rejuvenated.

But here's my question. I've dug through a lot of Google searches and nothing conclusive came up. When making bath salts, do you HAVE to use an oil in it? Many recipes say you should put something like olive oil, vitamin E oil, etc, into the bath salts. But I find that these seem to look kinda mushy compared to store bought bath salts.

I did make a batch tonight and tested it out with my feet. Didn't seem to have a problem. But I want to give these things out as gifts and don't want to mess anything up haha. Anyone have ideas?

Well, water sometimes ends up drying skin out, so the oil is probably dual purpose, for smells and for moisture.

Basically you wouldn't ever "have" to put in oils, but putting them in might be better than leaving them out. It's bath stuff right, so doing it a little differently won't hurt anyone it just might not have the desired effect.

Thank you for such a quick reply =D

My only real issue is the texture of the salts. Like, for example, if I bought vitamin E oil, wouldn't it make the bath salts "wetter"? When I buy them from the store they're really dry to the touch, which is the texture I'd like to have with mine. If you put oil in it, is there like some method to getting it to that consistency?

If you don't know, it's totally okay haha. I wasn't able to find anything on Google though D:

Just as a guess they would be wetter. But I guess it depends on how much oil you use, compared to how much salt. I used some liquid food coloring in bath salts once (to make them pretty since they were a gift), and a little bit of liquid mixed in quite well. A lot would not work, but if we're talking a tablespoon or so mixed with a cup or more of solids, you shouldn't even notice it.

And if it is too wet, maybe lay it out flat on a cookie sheet and stick it somewhere dry a few days? I know I've dried orange peels that way and they start out pretty moist 3nodding
Away from pets though! That much salt would be bad for them.
