As the two females picked up the seed pods, they would feel a brief tingle of energy pass between them and the pod at the contact. The vines, previously twined tightly around each of the pods like a protective net began to loosen, slipping and falling away to the ground, leaving a bare, smooth seed pod.
Until a pair of loud, splitting cracks filled the air.
The covering on each pod broke open, a large fissure opening on the surface and exposing a new surface within...a glimmering surface, not unlike that of an opal, but each displaying their own collection of colors within. Each appears unique on the inside, despite their uniform outer coverings.

Daring Do, shook her head. "It looks like a normal seed, but I've never seen anything quite this large..." Daring Do joined Miela in looking at the tree. "I suppose so," she was at a loss of any knowledge about these sorts of things. "Were these tree's her-" That was strange... Daring stopped talking as she felt... she didn't even know what to think of the feeling she had felt come from the seed. Daring let the pod fall from her hand, not sure if she wanted to hold it at the moment. The vines had already slipped away from it when it landed in the soft dirt, it hadn't fallen far since she had still been leaning over. Daring Do, bent over it once again, this time not touching it, but staring at it as closely as she could. "Did you see-?" Daring had almost forgotten Miela was there in all the strangeness, until she was suddenly cut off by the dual cracks that seemed to surround her. Daring Do fell back onto her butt.

Miela had been turning the vine-covered pod over in her hands, examining it, when she'd felt something pass between it and her. Almost like the shock you feel on a cold morning when the air is dry. "Oh goodness," she says, startled and almost dropping the pod. "Did you feel--" she's cut off by the pod splitting open. The vines fall off and the smooth, outer covering cracks open.
"Oh no we broke them," she says, her voice in a panicked rush. Quickly she sets the pod down again, fearful of breaking it further, but she kneels next to it and peers over it. Peeking through the cracks is a beautiful, pale pink color.
"Loooook," she coos, brushing some of the cracked outer shell away, careful of how she touches it. "They're almost like gems on the inside!"

Daring Do wasn't surprised that she might have broke hers, considering that she dropped it. Except, that it was a seed... right? Only seeds didn't do stuff like that. Daring rolled herself from her bottom onto her knees. She looked to Miela as she began to coo over her seed. "Really?" Daring Do ask as she cautiously crawled on her knees towards where the seed she had touched was. Daring Do at it, true enough a red-orange colored stone had revealed itself. "That is... unexpected." Daring Do looked up at Miela and then back at the seed. She touched the red surface lightly, half-expecting something else to happen. "Well... now I'm really not sure what it is. They have some strange sort of mysteries here." Daring mused as she peeled back some of the loose shell. Daring Do looked at the tree again and resumed what she had been saying. "Were the trees here last time?"

Miela scratches her head, shifting the seed pod to rest against her hip. "Honestly...I can't remember if they were here or not." She looks around. How would she have missed something so huge? Then again, she'd almost missed them when she was looking for the entrance to the underground palace. So...there's that. "They might've been. Trees don't just pop up overnight..." Miela rubs the back of her neck.
Looking at the cracked seed pod, she has to smile a little bit. "Well, we might not have found what we came looking for, but it looks like we found a bit of adventure anyway." She gestures to her opalescent seed pod, a milky pink color shimmering through the silver shell.

The two femmes make their way back home to the Great Tree, taking care to shield their new treasures from harm. The weather is more favorable during the return trip, though still biting cold. They arrive home only a day later than the day they'd planned to, even with the delays in their journey.
