Index gaia_nitemareright The Devil Machine.
Long before the brew incident. There was a time in which artifacts were not seen as instruments of evil but as trinkets that would aid a person to deal with their normal lives. Some were funny, some were useful. Others were visionary. But among toys, tools, and gadgets. There was always curiosity towards the subject of Life.
Could an artifact be alive? Would there be a chance to surpass the golems?
The sole idea became a taboo that only 1 person would defy Lord death to unveil his secrets. Professor Grim Potter Heist.
As Professor Grim continued on his investigations. He would soon be able to recreate golems with an emulated personalities. But they were too gross at sight and they still had not visual difference from their original predecessors. The years passed and Professor Grim continued on his pursue for the artificial soul.
From ghouls, to zombies. From zombies to golems. All of his research seem to be going over and over in circles with no end. No matter how hard would try to perform a living being it was always grotesque, nothing like a being that ever lived. Some of them even escaped before he could get rid of them. Hence why various incidents took place in the vicinity of Kansas. Making Lord Death and Eibon to investigate in the matter. Professor Grim would had to move away as his creations served as a distraction to cover his escape.
through years of experimental failures, he had to be more and more cautious since every failed invention that he could not get rid of in time was only another creature loose in the earth that would lead Death and his men to him.
The chase extended to centuries as rumors spread that Professor Grim had started eating human souls to extend his lifespan. Now he was more dangerous than ever. With the risk of becoming a kishin himself. However those suspicions where withered away once they found his lifeless body within an underground forth at the outskirts of Arabia. His books and most of his research seemed to have been savaged before DMWA reach the scene. But there was something left. A card for his fellow colleague Eibon.
The note was written apparently before his dead as it read like this.
"Eibon, mi former friend, I've made it!
The answer lied beneath my eyes the whole time. How could I be so dense not to see it?
If you ever feared me becoming a kishin I assure you I would have killed myself before that happens. Even if that left my investigation complete. I wished not to see how the world would end. I will leave that to my Daughter Eirs Vanity Astral.
She's my most brilliant creation. Finally... I"ve created, the perfect automaton. The devil Machine.
Forgive me for being weak. To be lead by madness by not knowing what I wished to know.
As a scientist I believe you'll understand. The urge to comprehend something that has not been yet explored.
I would have finished sooner, if it wasn't for that blonde little girl that always stole my money back then, severing my supplies for my investigations. But I assure you, if you promise not to harm her. She'll give you all the answers for death would no longer be an end to all things. Soon, you shall all see what I did when she opened her eyes for the first time.
The true darkness in this world is not within kishin or witches. No, the darkness of which this world must be purged from lies within the human heart.
She knows it better than anyone. She is, the purifier.
-Professor Grim "As the DMWA recovered the body they could see his heart was pulled out from his body yet no signs of where it went.
Now the DMWA had to search for this Eirs. But she was nowhere to be found.
During the pass of time many women where killed in London. Their cardiac organ being pulled out. It was all blamed upon Jack the reaper as he was near that area. But just as he was, there was an abnormal number of witches there. After cleaning the area, none of those witches seemed to be normal. Their souls seemed to have a strange color. which is why they where confiscated rather than fed to DMWA weapons. However once examined the soul's worth, numbers did not match as there were still missing souls.
There was a particular phenomenon striking the world at the moment, as swards of kishin eggs and witches were spawning where the mysterious assassinations begun. Always with that signature move. The heart being ripped off. Strangely the number of missing souls matched the number of corpses so far with those descriptions. Which was also the same number of foes they fought on the next spawn. Just as if forgotten. No one ever thought of Eirs.
As Eirs became a ghost, a Myth, the void shell traveled freely through the world. Observing it's corruption scaling. The lone woman was confused, growing as the time passed away, developing her skins to blend in. Having no soul she had learned how to mimic them. Blending in in different societies. Traveling freely between the realm of humans, witches and demons alike. Isolating and devouring her victimes, she cultivated their souls within their empty shell. Twisting just a little their existences due to her void nature. And giving birth to a reincanated soul days, weeks, months later. Depending on the amount of souls consumed in that period.
The strainge case of Eirs, an empty cocoon who seemed to mimic a living being but also the soul of a human, witch or demon. Was also a reincarnation factory in which each individual devoured would be brought back as a twisted version of itself. If the individual was devoured completely, the growth of the new born would be in a matter of days. While those who only their souls were eaten or part of their life force stolen through physical contact would grown up as normal infants.
As Eirs grew up, her abilities were polishing and little by little she lost her fear to other beings. Growing in fact curious about every single one of them.
With her current tools it was no wonder her infiltration skills were unmatched. As she could change her appearance at will according to her own measures and physical condition. Hair, face, skin, was all she could change about herself but with the many faces she had met on her journey, imagination was just enough to play the right character at the time.
She even infiltrated a facility, none of the scientist would ever suspected she wasn't part of their staff. And so she continued with her investigation of the human world. They seemed to be fascinated with this new species called weapon. She had only met a very few in the past but was aware of their potential. Eirs was curious as to why would they lock many of them in one place and breed them. Perhaps the scientist were just as curious about weapons as she was towards everyone.
One day however. When she was doing her normal tour by the installations, she could see a female weapon lying on the floor. The dying woman seemed to had an overdose or something. To be honest to herself, Eirs had not eated since she got in the facility, so the idea of a dying weapon sounded a bit tempting, she went ahead and ate her being able to save her soul for herself. Now content with a new life cultivating within her, she was about to hide when she heard noises on the other side of the room. Afraid they might suspect something, she acquired said weapon's appearance seconds before those men went in and took her to another room.
As the days passed, she learned a lot of personal relationships between weapons, as she was set up with a partner who seemed to have physical interest towards her.
Giving and receiving. Her knowledge increased yet something that never happened before just did. Usually she either devoured a living being or stole part of their vital energy, but she already had a live cultivating within her when she received the other weapon's life force, through the excess of physical contact.
She played along, feeling weird for the first time as both functions were used at the same time. She knew the intercourse meant nothing to her, but the physical contact must had corrupted the initial soul as the pregnancy would lasted just as a normal human. The people there were nice to her during that time. Taking care of her and monitoring the fake life signals she manned to keep them content and busy. The big day was a big surprise for her as she did not gave birth to one but two. Merging the qualities of both souls into them. Or so she thought as the scientist explained.
The time had come for her to grow bored of such place. She had never grown an maternal instinct since leaving their child had no remorse in her. The empty shell escaped the facilities making use of her abilities. At the very least the twins were enough to satisfy the scientists. Something about merging weapons characteristics together.
With that done, the devil machine wandered once again around the world. Bringing kishin eggs, witches and demons alike to this world as she continued her journey to produce a greater force, strong enough to purge this world from evil.
