STRAIGHT FROM THE MAT - W365 NEWSWIRE
3/11 Raw house show results from Waco, TX: Chris Masters over Kane,
Spirit Squad over Val Venis, Viscera and Eugene, Chavo Guerrero over
Tyson Tomko, Trish Stratus & Mickie James over Victoria and Candice
Michelle, Shelton Benjamin over Rob Van Dam, Ric Flair over Carlito,
Triple H over Big Show, and John Cena over Edge.
We're still looking for reports from the Smackdown show last night in
Alexandria, LA, as well as the Raw and Smackdown shows today in Tyler,
TX, and Lafayette, LA.
First a correction. Many readers pointed out to us that the Virgil photo
we posted yesterday wasn't recent as its been floating around Internet
message boards for months. I never knew what a cult following Virgil had
until now as we received more feedback on this than anything else in the
past six months.
Mike Carpenter sent word that tickets for the 4/30 Backlash PPV (Raw
show largely built around Triple H) in Lexington, KY, go on sale on
3/25, priced from $25 for cheap seats to $175 for ringside. This will be
the first WWE PPV in Kentucky for several years. The main reason for
this is due to past and on going issues with the athletic commission
over the usage of blood in matches and other regulations that could cost
the company money in fines or have its promoter's license revoked in the
worst possible case scenario.
The Ottawa Sun interviewed Candice Michelle on her Playboy cover. Mostly
a fluff piece. She's kind of attempting to play the game now but still
comes across badly: "I want to go out there and wrestle. I want to win
the women's championship belt. It doesn't feel good when you take some
of the bumps, but I'm not going to do things half-assed. The first time
I got booed, I wondered why... but when you're a heel, that's your job.
So now when they boo, it's like, 'Wow, I did my job well.'"
Gregory Helms did legitimately break his nose (dislocated septum) during
the overseas tour last weekend. Paul London botched a leg drop during a
six-man tag in Brisbane. Helms goes in for surgery in the next few days
and will be sidelined for three to six weeks.
Billy Graham did an interview with www.wrestlingepicenter.com. He talked
about Bruno Sammartino and the WWE Hall of Fame. He said he thinks that
Bruno would never accept an induction as he is too bitter. As an example
he claimed that Bruno disowned his own son 17 years ago for doing
steroids and they haven't spoken a word to each other since. Regarding
the new drug policy he understands that it will kick into high gear with
the first round of testing after Wrestlemania. He said that as a result
we are already starting to see changes in the physiques of some of the
wrestlers. He was very negative on the current direction of WWE
creative. When asked about the scripting of interviews he said he was at
a show recently where he witnessed a pre-tape with Mark Henry and
Daivari that took 90 minutes to shoot because the director was very
particular about what he wanted. He feels that scripting interviews
stifle a person's character because there is little room to be original.
Speaking of changing physiques, talk a close look at some of the WWE
women over the next couple of weeks... its just starting to become very
clear who was and wasn't on something... which is pretty damn near most.

A new Bret Hart interview airs on 4/3 at 6pm on TSN's Off The Record.
The Hall of Fame ceremony airs later the same night at 8pm.
The WWE are now going after youtube.com. Ryan in Kamloops, Canada, sent
this note in... 'If you haven't already heard, youtube.com has taken
nearly all of its WWE/WWF videos off the website. They have a message in
place when you look at one of the videos saying, "This video has been
removed due to copyright infringement." I found that interesting as when
most sites get nailed for infringement, they rarely have to put a note
up as to that being the reason behind the removal. Maybe the WWE sent
out a subpoena with this as a stipulation? Who knows.'
The WWE stock is now as its highest point in several years after closing
Friday at $16.80...
