He stood listening. Full attention on his mentor, while his curiosity ran wild with where this was going to go. Sure as an apprentice Dorian was thinking a lot of what Zoltan was saying was implied previously. But this was the first real time that it was spoken aloud.

Dorain's anticipation was heavy in the air.

Never thinking the time would be now, but when he saw that book, the book he had read so much about and earning to see finally was before him, there was no better time. Eyes wide and mouth slightly agape, Dorian stepped forward. A hand outstretched to touch the cover however, never did as he hovered about an inch away from it.

"You...you are finally trusting me with this knowledge Master Maues?" he asked eager and humbled at the same time. "You believe I'm worthy of this knowledge?"

Although he was still recovering from his use of magic just moments ago, he hid it well. Maues hated showing his weaknesses, and even to his apprentice. But it was natural to him to never show what could harm him, he kept everything close to him severed, so that no one could ever injure him. Better yet, he could easily drop Dorian if it meant he would live longer. Sacrifice, that was what kept people alive these days. Watching as his loyal minion slowly gathered himself closer and closer, Maues tried his best not to shake even now. The book was heavy, but not too heavy for Zoltan's inhuman strength. Before Dorian stopped to hover his finger tips above the book, Zoltan had pulled a hand to the back of his neck, where his fingers caressed the air above his skull and up and down passed his face. Following that wove a black hood of a leathery material that hung low over his forehead to shield him from the rain.

"Worthy, you have been for a long time, ready... im willing to find out" he suggested, giving way to the probability that Dorian could go mad with power. It was one thing to be able to consume knowledge of godlike power, but it was a godlike will that it took to control yourself after. He pushed his hand forwards slightly, the book almost falling from his finger tips as he forced " go on, take it. I pass the Demonaria to you. I've studied it all, all that there is to read so far. But only read the first chapter, then you will know when to read the others"

Zoltan can remember the first time he read the Demonaria, he couldn't sleep for a week, his nightmares turned from dark screaming ghouls, to blood thirsty and insatiable flames. The Demonaria was more than just a book, the very blood used to write it transcribed the memories of whomsoever damned themselves to pass on their realm to Earth. Whilst the first chapter is a mere introduction to the realm of the very same name, the others give knowledge of damned and bloody rituals, blood pacts. Zoltan all this time was lookign deep into his apprentice's eyes, the yellow glow of a hawks deathly stare, and deathly was one of his greatest secrets... the air was so cold up here now, he could see Dorian's calm breathes, but Zoltan, that was his biggest secret.

There was no cold air that ever left his mouth.

When they do, I'll be right behind you

So sad we had to fade it"

Eyeing the book before him, all else was forgotten. The ire he had felt earlier for what his Master was getting involved in and the ire at the woman involved. The eagerness for the marks to be laid and the excitement of what was to come forgotten. Dorian even forgot the steady patter of rain against his skelp and flattening his hair against his head and making his clothes heavier. It was all forgotten in the knowledge and sight of the book his master was holding out to him with the slightest bit of tremors.

Zoltan's words, he had given permission to touch it; normally to self-conscious or not wanting to risk his Mentor's fury touched the book, the apprentice never did. Now it was before him, in its haunting bound blood stained leather and aged pages. With sure but slow hands, Dorian took it and though the book was heavy it was not horribly so. However, the weight it held on his shoulders by merely touching it, the fact that Zoltan was ready to take the chance of him being ready to read it....that burden was far greater.

"Master Zoltan, I'm honored that you finally deem me ready," he spoke slowly but his excitement and the honor he felt, could be heard in Dorian's voice as he spoke. The mist of his hot breath mixing with the cool air floating before his lowered face.

Looking up at last, drops of rain gathering on his brow and flowing down. Dorian's dark eyes meeting his Mentor's it was a silent agreement that the road going forward would not be as easy as the one he had taken to get to this point.

"I'll do everything in my power to not let you down," he said firmly and with promise holding the book closer to his chest. "When we finish with laying down the markers I'll begin my readings."

It was satisfying seeing the yearn for power, the thirst for knowledge in his apprentice's face giving Maues the pleasure of handing over the Demonaria. If Maues could breath he would have exhaled cheaply. He seemed to move on from the subject almost as he said "If you want it to, if you really want it to, it will turn to ashes until you next require it. It has many curses bound in its leather and one of them is that only one person can have it until death unless given and accepted. So, for now, let it burn. For that Gypsie girl you seemed to jealous of" he continued, bringing up past matters, knowing it was probably get at Dorian once again, but that was part of the fun. He said "she's found some companions in the City of Crows... and by the sounds of things they're going to investigate the Darkness" he finished with a grin. "A shame they'll find a place where the light won't touch them" he guffawed under his breath. " and when they do... we'll be right behind them, stabbing them, Dorian" he then guffawed some more as he lifted a hand and dark tendrils grew from the ground, giving them a portal to teleport to their next location.

"Come on" he said "lets go lay the last mark" and with that he stepped into the darkness and dissipated, the portal eagerly waiting to engulf Dorian too.

He didn't smile, no Zoltan Maues didn't smile; not with some sort of underlying alterier motive at least. But those were rare, and what was in their usual place was a smirk or a slight upturn of the corner of his lips. Dorian Shade knew his Mentor and Master long enough to notice those simple nuances. And if he could hope, silently and within his own head, it swore, he may have seen a hint of a proud smile.

Dorian had done his mentor proud in some shape or form.

Hands still clutching the Demnaria, the young man stared and took in Zoltan's words. "...to ashes..." he murmured now understanding why he could never find the book in his mentor's study or guarded somehwere; it was always with him in a sense. At first thought he couldn't do it because Dorian didn't really want to, but on his second try, the heavy book of shadow and monsters crumbled to ebony ash in his hands. "...beautiful..." he breathed.

Then the Gypsy was mentioned and he scowled up again at Zoltan. He had to go and ruin the moment with the mention of her. The dark Wanderer as he was called in the articles, sweetened the deal however, with the promising knowledge of slaying the witch.

A dark haunting smirk played across Dorian's lips. "A shame indeed Master Maues."

With a simple gesture and creation of the portal Dorian knew what was coming and nodded. "I'm right behind you my Master." And sure enough he was just a step behind, not wavering as he stepped into the engulfing darkness that would scare nearly everyone, he welcomed and rivaled in it.

Seems like just yesterday
You were a part of me
I used to stand so tall
I used to be so strong
Your arms around me tight
Everything, it felt so right
Unbreakable, like nothin' could go wrong
Now I can't breathe
No, I can't sleep
I'm barely hanging on

Here I am, once again
I'm torn into pieces
Can't deny it, can't pretend
Just thought you were the one
Broken up, deep inside
But you won't get to see the tears I cry
Behind these opened eyes

"So" Leah said, finally walking by herself and coming down towards the flat land at the base of the mountains, seeing the green grass again made her smile. "That's why i went to all this trouble..." Leah added, still walking and remembering the spot she left the bike, a short distance away. "Sorry again for dragging you into this..." she said again, feeling terrible for letting her path of vengeance grasp a hold of Aaron for selfish uses.

Seeing her husband though still jogged a few emotions in her mind, she wasn't sure how to feel. She felt somewhat better however, telling Aaron and explaining that when her husband vanished, and supposedly took everything and left her... it was like a good release. At least now they know the truth, her husband was murdered, by none other than Zoltan Maues, the very man that had once tried to curse the Injustira Syndicate because thye wouldn't accept him, the very wizard that left Merlin Academy because he was 'too superior'. And he had framed it all, just because Leah's lover had crossed paths with him at an unfortunate time.

That will be her knew target, and without the aide of Jewels, she will find Zoltan Maues. And hopefully she'll have a friend this time too. Aaron.

Swallow me then spit me out
For loving you, I blame myself
Seeing you it kills me now
No, I don't cry on the outside
Anymore...
Anymore...

I told you everything
Opened up and let you in
You made me feel alright
For once in my life
Now all that's left of me
Is what I really want to be
So together, but so broken up inside
'Cause I can't breathe
No, I can't sleep
I'm barely hangin' on

"Wow," he murmured, letting out a low whistle as he trailed after Leah, digesting the information and the previous events with a touch of shock. "It's no trouble," he replied, waving a numb hand in her direction. "Wow," he breathed out, shaking his head and thrusting his hands in his pocket as they itched for a cigarette though he knew he was out. He'd have to buy some more later. "Now what?" he asked, hands fiddling with cuffs of his coat. There were two things he could do. One, he could return to his old life. There was boredom there, but it was safe, though most wouldn't describe it as such. The second option, to follow Leah on her journey.

Boredom didn't suit him he decided, though if he was to follow her, he'd probably have to tell her about his problem come every moon. "Hey Leah, I do plan on following you but, I have something to tell you first," no time like the present. It was difficult though. After years of telling no one, this would definitely feel different. No one knew. If she did decide hunting with a werewolf was too dangerous, well, he could return to his old life.
