"CLEAR THE HUNTERS OFF-" - a faint shout and then-- "ALL HUNTERS VACATE THE IMMEDIATE THREAT LOCATION. I REPEAT--" - There wasn't much time to vacate as a static charge seemed to build up in the air, one loud enough to cause a shrill, mechanic hum-
- As the creature was literally burst with a ray of -
- "AWESOME!!" Mark shouted, not exactly dead. Wait, where had he come from again? "I mean," he decided, quickly, "it's kind of cool I guess." Sniffle. "I could do better." He was covered in glowing blue saliva.
The blast filled the vicinity around, as the entire island light up, as if it was the middle of the afternoon and the sun was bright blue, it was almost satisfying to see as the behemoth of an assailant was literally absorbed into the light, giving one last terrible screech before, smoking and hissing, falling to the ground. It dissipated, but bits and pieces, thick parts of its outer shell and claws remained, as a testimony of what had happened.
"Eh," the Death assistant continued. "I could do way, way better." He paused, and then looked down. "And where's my other shoe?"OOC THE DEFEAT OF A GREAT EVIL gaia_crown [ THE DEFEAT ] - And so Deus lives to see another day, Hunters (mostly) no longer homeless, hobos no longer homeless. The moral of the story is that 1) Don't have loud beach parties without a shield to protect Deus and 2) That blue ooze that many Hunters were covered in would take a week to come off, in the meanwhile, their skin glowed bright blue and they were subject to a bit of poisoning for the next few IC days (4 OOC days). (Downgrade their dice by one level, so if they are intermediate, they are now rolling trainee dice, if they are trainee, it's still trainee dice) gaia_crown [ A NEW PROJECT BEGINS ] A few days later, it seemed Insanity R&D had made great progress with the remains of the Insanity Beast. Enough to start Project Titan. read all about it here! gaia_crown [ RP POINTS ] - You get +1 rp point for participating in each round (there were two, so that's max of 2), and another +1 for going over 800 words at any point in time. Hooray!

She snorted again, and turned away from him, because it was really hard to maintain her annoyed look when he kept grinning like that. Then she heard shouting, and despite her injuries she was reaching out to grab a hold of the other trainee's arm and yanking him along as she vacated the immediate area and went for cover. It was automatic, second nature, and it gave a little spark of hope that despite the rampant fear that she'd been fighting off for the whole of the evening, she wasn't a lost cause as a hunter. "Jesus Christ!" Pale eyes were wide as she watched the blast and the demolished titan, then all at once she was forced shield her vision from the sudden brightness that lit up the sky like a spring afternoon. She gave a startled hiss, pressing her arm against her face and turning away, and subsequently using the other trainee's coat to block out the light. He was probably fine, what with the visor and all.

Ami, being wholly among the homeless crowd now, slumped at their "victory." She was admittedly impressed by Mark's little show, but it didn't make her feel any better.
"Hm. Well I'll see you later then, Otto. I need to survey the damage done to my house, and then inevitably relocate to Lex's dorm. Possibly Tori's if the situation doesn't allow. Kat might have her dor-" She stopped, realizing she was rambling a trail of thoughts. She coughed a little to clear her throat, then said, "Ah yes. Well. See you later."

Dakota was upset to see the towns once again demolished, but at least he could work on getting his house built from the bottom up --- Nevada was elsewhere, taking Chelsea's hand and then leaning up to cover her eyes. "Don't look into the light pretty lady." She closed her own at the bright light before watching a hunter emerge from the Kaiju unharmed. and still hobo. "Well now that's over with." She wiped her hands down her black dress, letting go of Chelsea. "I'm going to see about a shower of some sort."

Cass stared out into the towns.
"I really am glad I backed up my wedding photos...." she murmured to herself before going about finding the second party involved in said wedding photos. Namely her husband.
---
Solomon had already begun to react when Peyton grabbed his coat to assist him in running for cover, the older hunter throwing one arm (and thus a side of his coat) over her as they both hit the deck.
Albeit hers was with 'not watching the bright explosion' meanwhile Solomon had stared right into it.
For the record, his eyes were still buzzing.

"I think I got a fair amount in," Milo grinned, rubbing two of his fingers together to get a good glob off from them, he flicked it to the ground. Another small amount, but it was coming off, or was it? He squinted for a moment, noticing his hand - and arm for that matter - still seemed to be glowing faintly blue even with the mass actually gone. Maybe residue or something, perhaps a shower would help.
Either way, he shrugged with a smile returning to his own features as he turned his attention back to Cass. "Oh good," his smile spread to match her's as he patted Inoke's shoulder again, "we only just met so that would have sucked, ya." Good, the handkerchief wasn't a death flag after all. He needed time to be proper bros, teammates and friends with people; and maybe someday he would have a fist fight on the beach in proper toku fashion in the true test of friendship.
Milo's musings were cut short a little as a voice boomed all around them, delegating them to vacate. His gaze shifted to the air as he felt the charge, a few hairs on the back of his neck standing up in result. He looked at the hovering beast and then regretted it, shutting his eyes tightly to block out the impressive light display. There was a shriek, a thud and a booming voice of triumph alerting him to an all clear so the brunette opened his eyes once more to see the .. titan thing gone, save for a claw and bits and pieces.
"Guess that takes care of that." He mused and then glanced at Cass again, "Is this the sort of thing we should be expecting..." Was what he began to ask, but the older Hunter had already turned and left.demon_pachabel whoops, didn't see your post xD fixed ~

When her eyes had adjusted Peyton looked up again, peeking around Sol's arm and coat down at the wreckage of the towns. A nervous laugh wormed it's way out of her as she regarded the destruction, and she glanced sideways at the other trainee. "Nope, I am never moving into the towns." Screw ultimate privacy, she was staying in the dorms. Now that the monster was dead and the immediate danger was over a certain numbness was beginning to take over. The petite girl slid out from under Solomon's arm and got to her feet, then offered her good hand down to help him up. If the battle was over she didn't want to stay there. If they were no longer needed, she wanted to be somewhere else, anywhere else. "Let's go back," she suggested quietly, distractedly, as she continued to stare down at what was left of the towns. "To the dorms, to the cafeteria, I don't care. Anywhere. Pick a place."

Solomon was more than happy to take the offered hand as he got up, putting his arm gingerly around her shoulders (hoping to not touch the owie spot) and beginning to walk - perhaps more hastily than would have been normal for someone who was calm. Fake it 'til you make it, right?
Right.
"Dorms. Definitely dorms." he answered. "Because painkillers and blanket forts of safety are in dorms and I think I need a minute....." If she'd looked, Peyton would have noticed the hand that was over her shoulder was shaking.

Laugh it up, Jack. Laugh it up while you still could. Finn was just going to keep on smiling like nothing was amiss, or like he wasn't about to try and ruin your day completely (because obviously a giant insanity titan wasn't doing that well enough). He was going to keep smiling because he knew something terribly funny that you didn't know. Well, he'd keep smiling until he realized that Jack and Fini already knew each other, somehow, and he didn't know about it until this very second. His eyes narrowed, and his smile slipped ever so slightly, barely noticeable, really, but for Finn to show any amount of actual surprise or unhappiness was a wonder in itself. He quickly managed to recover himself, however, especially when he saw the look in Jack's eyes, the clenching of his jaw, when he steered him in the right direction. He was able to let go of him then, to take a step back and admire his handiwork. Hell, he even dropped Nevada a wink when she looked his way, and gave her a cheerful little wave. Battlefield? What battlefield? Abbi's shout had Finn turning towards her, and her gesture for them to go to her got a raised eyebrow. He gave his head a small shake and gestured that they should come to Finn's group, because it made more sense for two to join four then the other way around, surely! To Kat, who's name he caught from Fini's greeting, he offered another smile. "I am, again, so sorry for the intrusion, as well as my most unfortunate state." He looked down at himself, picking at the fabric of his blue goop covered vest with a thumb and forefinger, giving it a rather distasteful look. "I somehow managed to get myself a little bit eaten earlier, much like that man just now." He gestured towards where Mark had disappeared into the monsters gullet. "Though I don't believe I screamed quite so much, or at all, in fact." He grinned again, and then his attention was further divided when Fini slapped him on the shoulder and demanded an answer to a rather unfortunate question, one that brought him back to the fact that Fini knew Jack at all. "I should be asking you the same thing, sunshine. Though I guess it just never came up in conversation, did it?" His voice held a slight edge to it that wasn't there before, and his eyes flickered from Jack, back to her. How well did they know each other, was the question he really wanted to ask. Or rather, maybe he didn't want to. Maybe he'd rather not know. Insides slowly seething, he gave her a smooth smile that didn't match his feelings what so ever, one that simply looked normal. "I've known Jack since before we got here. Good friends. Now tell me more about this leash you intend to keep me on? You've gotten me fairly intrigu--" He would have continued, and in fact, would have loved to, if not for a sudden shouting for everyone to get down. So, instead, he instinctively reached forward to try and grab for Fini's hand, that oh so heroic side of him kicking in. And then, if she allowed him to, he would have pulled her in to duck behind Jack's giant form. He would make for an excellent shield from the massive explosion, after all.
