Right away, Rae was immediately a bad choice. With the tarp covering the arena and making it dark, of course the pokemon sent out were dark and ghost types. All they needed for bug types to finish off the batch of Pokémon most effective against... Well, that was until he remembered that Rae was also dual fairy. Yeah! Fairies for the win! That still left her weak to ghosts, but it also gave her a resistance to the psychic types that were floating around. Still wasn't the best choice, admittedly, since most of the Pokémon were ghost types, but still. Looked like they were going to have to learn to fight off their weaknesses! Logic dictated that he should just swap her out for Tova... And through the random lights going around from various fire types, that was probably the best bet. But he wouldn’t. Actually. He couldn’t. Rae possessed only one damaging move, two status attacks, and Dream Eater. How was he supposed to do anything with that? Psychic/Fairy or not, Rae was the worst choice for right now. Welp. Looked like he was stuck with that decision.

The first Pokémon that he found in the dim light, was two Mawile. Easy targets! Right? No! They were steel/fairy types, according to Misses Lyon, which meant that the only things they were weak against was well... The same as before, with the exception of fighting. Lovely. They spotted Vern, thoroughly pissed, but he and Rae were not ready for the battle. The first one charged forward with its venus-flytrap like second head and attempted to bite down hard with Crunch. The second used Stone Edge! "Rae! Teleport! Follow it up with Lucky Chant!” She did just that, Teleporting away from the Mawile and sending psychic-chains towards the two Steel/Fairy types. Now, they couldn’t perform critical hits at least. But then, the two Mawile begun to dance a strange dance…

Vern and Rae’s eyes widened when they felt the rain coming down from the darkness.

Suddenly, a bright flash of light appeared from the direction of a Jason and his Butterfree. He had a Butterfree? Vern only sort of remembered something about that, but at the moment he didn't question it. "Good ideas?" His mind was blank; he tried desperately to think of something to get him out of his disadvantageous position. What was he supposed to do? So far a good old Heat Wave-Psychic combo was the best idea yet... if it wasn't for Rain Dance.

"Dream Eater? Yeah, if you can put them to sleep, Rae will ******** 'em with Dream Eater. That and Psychic are the only damaging attacks she knows right now...." He was evidentally very ticked about his choice in Pokémon. "Honestly, long as you can keep things off of Butterfree, that sounds like a good idea, Devin!" As much as he didn't like working with Jason, Vern was more concerned about getting out of the Battle Arena. Preferably with Rae not getting knocked out.

"Jason? Sound good? Butterfree puts them to sleep, Rae uses Dream Eater."

Lydia had been a little slow to start. Not like Lel--and even Hana's little egg pokemon! They sprung into action almost instantly to defend the small splinter group! Lel's first attack though... didn't he know that normal type attacks didn't harm ghost types? "Lel, stomp won't work on sableye and misdreavous! They're ghost types," She explained, trying not to sound bossy. The rain didn't help either. Who called up rain in a dark place like this!? To what advantage?

Misdreavous came charging in next. And there was really only one attack Blaze knew that wouldn't harm her friends: "Feint attack!" Lydia called. Blaze looked to almost disappear, sneaking around quickly and striking a dark attack on the ghost. A super effective hit! "Yeah!" Lydia shouted. Even with her magby's fire power doused down, she had one key move for fighting off a good handful of pokemon. "Those sableye don't have a real weak point, so we'll have to combine our attacks if we want to win!" For a while, she forgot about everything before, focusing more on the battle at hand.

It was so hard not to make a punch line out of what Vern had said. 'I've got something else in mind I'd like to f--' Thoughts would have to wait a while longer. Since when did his little baby brother take a role of command? Or plan out battling tactics? And why was he so spry and awake!? The older McBeth brother didn't really like this big change. "Ya ya," He agreed reluctantly. "Butterfree, think you got this?" His bug type left his head, raising up their spot light while it fanned out a sleep powder at the remaining zubat attackers. "Your turn.

Devin looked over at the remaining mawile, glad to see that his plan was well taken to. "Shrromish! Leechseed and switch out with Ra!" It was hard to aim properly in the dim lighting, so it was no surprise that the first try had missed. "Try again!" He called. The second one went way off course--mawile was just faster than shroomish! But it did hit something: Leechseed wrapped around lunatone... And lunatone didn't exactly look happy about it! "What?"

Seems water was a lucky choice for Kazuma. Since he already used Water Sport, Rain Dance only proved to help Araquo even more. "This will be fun..." "Dew!" Araquo took a stance, ready to fight the Mawile he faced. "Remember, read it's movements! We've trained in this like crazy for a while now so let's do it. Water Gun!" Araquo quickly let out a large blast of water at the Mawile. While it dodged, it was still visible thanks to Jason's Butterfree using Flash. "Good to see Jason doing something good for us for once. Razor Shell!"

Unfortunately, the Mawile caught Araquo and used Vice Grip, catching Araquo in it's giant maw of a head tail. The Dewott was obviously plenty hurt by it, too. But he was still in the fight. "Water Gun! Break it's hold!" Araquo looked at Mawile who smirked until Araquo got it in the face with a good strong Water Gun. "I don't know about you guys, but I'm really liking this Rain Dance. Razor Shell!" Araquo charged in, using yet another water attack, getting the Mawile good. It was, however, still in the fight as it came back with Feint Attack. Obviously, Araquo couldn't escape this one and was hit again. He was starting to have troubles but he wasn't out yet. It would have been a crit, too, had it not been for Araquo's Shell Armor ability.

"Let's finish this. Water Gun!" With a good deep breath, Araquo shot yet another weather and Water Sport-enhanced Water Gun, striking the Mawile and sending it into the wall by the doors. It seemed to be out now which meant Kazuma could help Vern who was asking for help. "I got ya, Vern. Araquo, Razor Shell! Knock them together!"

Araquo charged in, not making noise so as not to announce it. In fact, he tried to keep his element of surprise on the two distracted Mawile. He struck with his scallop, taking the attention of at least one of the Mawile while Kazuma went to stand by Vern. "He's a bit roughed up but we can still take them. Just let me know if you have an idea for this." He was sure Vern would have some interesting idea to take on two Mawile considering his Kirlia's disadvantages to them and Araquo's advantages with current conditions.
