Vern's Pokemon
All Pokemon that are NOT in his current party or at the day-care are with his mom and boyfriend in Fortree City, Hoenn. Their house acts as his "Storage System". Vern also visits his pokemon at the day-care on a daily basis, so that they know that they are still loved and whatnot.

History: Valene was given to Vern on his tenth birthday as a gift from his parents when she herself was only a mere hatchling. She and Vern have been best-friends since that day, and was there with him and the other boys on the night that they met Kyurem; as a result they share the same fear of the beast, however unlike Vern she is not afraid of the night. Another notable tidbit about Valene's life is that she was there with Vern during the forest fire, and when the smoke started to surround them he placed her inside of his shirt so that she wouldn't have to breathe in the fumes. Amongst the chaos though, a burning tree fell down in front of them, and in her fright she ended up clawing Vern's chest. To this day, Vern still has those three parallel scars on his chest.

Personality: Very shy, bashful, and scared easily, she prefers to stay out of danger, and is often seen hiding behind Vern. However, she is still very nice; she doesn't trust to many outside of her teammates and a few select trainers -mainly, Vern and a few of his friends.

History: Found scared and all alone in the rain only a few months after turning thirteen, Vern couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor creature, and so he brought her home to where Valene was more than glad to have a new playmate. At first, Rae wasn't really trusting of Vern nor the adventurous Axew, but after awhile the timid Ralts slowly begun to warm up to the both of them. In the beginning, he really didn't know why his new found companion was so scared of humans -and his abusive father was no help- but over time, he learned that Rae's previous owner had been a very cruel person; they'd finally just abandoned her in the middle of an alleyway. From then on, Vern made sure to let his little Ralts know that she was loved unconditionally by himself and Valene, though she's still scared of most humans, especially his father.
Vern is currently teaching her to write Hiragana with her psychic powers, so that way she has some form of communication with humans other than himself, and as a trick to use in contests.

Personality: Quick to defend himself, or his trainer, Spike is ridiculously stubborn and finds it kind of enjoyable to scare timid-little Rae. He does NOT like Oliver in the least; that hatred is returned in the fullest. He can be seen puffing himself out either in defense, or defiantly towards somebody.

History: Vern’s first Pokémon ever caught at Phoenix Academy.
Other: During the Year 3 Water Race event at Partright, Spike managed to win Vern fourth place after a sudden rage-win through the race. He’s much stronger than his tiny, adorable, and often rather Napoleon-complex personality might allude to. In fact, Vern is presently working on making his Qwilfish a much more powerful member of his team alongside Valene, Rae, and Nala.

Other: Nala now has all of her tails, making her a fully grown Vulpix. Vern found her as a newborn back in the beginning of his first year at the academy. She also wears a pretty pendent around her neck, that has her name engraved on the back of it that Vern got for her.

Personality: Balto is a very joyful, bouncy pokemon, who loves just about everybody, especially Vern. All of his teammates seem to get along with him, even Spike, and he loves to play with his friends.

History: Balto was obtained as an egg for Mister Jones's Breeding 101 class his first year at the academy. It hatched the same day as Rose putting him as only an hour older than the Raikou.

History: Vern found him and another pokemon beaten and unconsious by a wild Electivire in the middle of a thunderstorm. Personality: Kai is a calm, silent, individual who tends to oversee the quarrel between his fellow teammates. Typically, those quarrels end in him separating them and giving them a good scolding one way or another, so basically he's like the peacekeeper of the group.

History: Vern found him and another pokemon beaten and unconsious by a wild Electivire in the middle of a thunderstorm. The wild pokemon was fought off, and he and the other pokemon were taken to their soon-to-be trainer's dorm, where they were both splendidly taken care of. However in his rush to treat their injuries, Kai's injuries were treated to last seeing as how the other pokemon was more badly damaged. For awhile, he followed Vern around as he healed, or was left up in his dorm during the school-day so as to stay out of trouble. A couple of weeks later, Vern just simply put him into a pokeball and has remained apart of his team since then.

Personality: A protective, motherly, kind of Pokémon, Lavenia is also a very honor-bound Torkoal, always insistant on upholding her honor no matter what. She is very protective of ones that are younger/weaker than herself, and will stand up for them when they won't do it for themselves. Like Kai, she's a peacekeeper, and can be a bit serious about touchy things. Her and Shirudo get along quite well.

History: Lavenia and her clan of Torkoal were migrating through the Adell Woods, when Vern's Pokémon quite literally ran into one of the younger members of her clan. Too weak to stand up for himself, she defended his honor and battled the "rude" strangers for him, ultimately being defeated and being captured by Vern.

She’s incredibly difficult to handle, even for Vern, whom she has a certain affection for after he treated her broken leg over the summer. She’s been known to headbutt others, loves to run around, and is highly untamed. Because of the kindness that Vern showed towards Tova, when she was weak, injured, and unable to get defend herself, she loves him above all else; he’s the only one whom she’ll let ride on her back.

That's where they decided that they were going to catch some ice-types. Found as part of a group of rather friendly Vanillites, Vern got Khione to agree to battle Jakob (a Voltorb at the time) and he caught her shortly afterwards.

Personality: Rather prideful, outgoing, and very loyal, Rose loves to play rough with her siblings (Entei and Suicune), occassionally even to the point of bullying them a little. Despite that, she does love her older sister and younger brother, and by the end of the day is more than willing to participate in grooming eachother and cuddling.

History: Raikou was born through a lightning bolt striking the tallest tree in the Alcove Forest, where it was then that her egg descended to the ground... Though it subsequently caused a forest fire to start that ended up trapping the unfortunate Vern in. Unknown to Vern, it was actually entirely intentional that the storm -and the following lightning- struck when he got so far into the forest; she knew even as a spirit that he was the one that she wanted to have raise the newborn Raikou. So when the opportunity arose for the new Raikou to be born, it was taken and as luck would have it the fire that had started sent him running into the very tree that the egg lay (though he has absolutely no memory of how he got in there). From there, he became safe and protected from the forest fire through use of a powerful Protect that had already been put up around the entire tree. And for three whole days, Vern lay there unconscious in that cave under the tree, until he awoke to find the mysterious, glittering egg in front of him. Now hatched, she loves her foster-father dearly and will do anything to protect him.
Other: Rose acts alot like a cat and a dog put together, able to make the sounds of either animal interchangeably which is a trait unique to the Beast Trio. She loves her Vern, her fellow teammates, her siblings (Entei and Suicune), and even their respective foster-dads. She is incredibly loyal to her human and will protect him at all costs. At the same time she loves to rough house with her brother and sister, often seen wrestling with them and pouncing on them victoriously.
