"You have three choices.
You can give up, give in,
or give it your all."

✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧

"Trying using the word 'hug', instead of 'close proximity'," Lucy suggested gently, watching Stacie's face redden. She wondered if she had done something wrong... Did she embarrass him in front of the other girl when she hugged him? What's this student handbook? What is he talking about? She had not heard of such a book, and if public displays of affection were forbidden on school grounds she supposed she was going to get in a lot of trouble fairly often. The mage couldn't help but be the huggy type of person that she was.

Hearing the flood of compliments rush from the banshee's mouth made Lucy's face turn almost as red as Stacie's. "Stacie, you're too kind. I just had a very beautiful instructor when I was younger. She taught me everything I know," That same somber smile returned to her face as she recounted the years she had spent at home in the studio with Ms Diane. She shook her head softly: now was not the time to reflect on the past. "Star of the carnival? Oh, I highly doubt that, but I do appreciate it!" Lucy continued to blush, looking down at Plue instead of at Stacie. However, as the banshee pet her head, she looked up at him quizzically. She couldn't help but let out a giggle before acknowledging his odd behavior. "Petting is for animals, or pets, silly. Hugging is for friends!" Her usual dazzling smile returned to her face as she let Plue down once more. She noted that the banshee was biting his lip - Oof, that's hot - and followed his gaze to the door. She felt somewhat bad that they had taken up the space and had most likely been the cause of the girl leaving, but wondered if there was something more to Stacie's quizzical expression. "Is something wrong?" Lucy asked, her forehead wrinkling in concern as she absentmindedly adjusted her skirt.

#c19b7d Stacie nodded to her quick correction, noting it. Hug. He hadn't used that word very often...He usually only used it with animals, not with humans. He hadn't ever really hugged a human before. Well! There was that one time...

Stacie shook his head, he didn't want to think about that one time. With a smile, he noticed Lucy's cheeks were growing just as dark as his cheeks felt. He really did want to meet that instructor Lucy was talking about - her dancing must've been the epitome of perfection. It was hard to imagine dancing better than Lucy's. She was like a graceful swan, bathing underneath a waterfall. He held in a laugh. Maybe that was going too far? It didn't matter - his weird analogy got the point across. She was beautiful, and Stacie couldn't imagine anyone other.

With a curious gleam in his eye, Stacie also noticed how she seemed to be looking down at Plue. He touched his face. Was there something on it? He hoped he hadn't been making her feel uncomfortable. As he pat her head, she seemed to be back to her old self.
"Petting is for animals, or pets, silly. Hugging is for friends!"

Well, at least she confirmed his thoughts prior to that sentence. He really did spent too much time with animals. That thought was reversed in his mind. Animals hugged each other - So Stacie pat humans on the head. Obviously that was wrong, judging by Stacie's eccentric and kind scolding.

His own quizzical expression made him look at Lucy, and he dropped it, smiling shyly. "I'm sorry if this is too blunt, but," Stacie paused, thinking about his words just like Lucy had taught him to. "You - ah - hugged me. And, you danced to my music - and I sang for you. Humans are known to be very judgmental creatures. I'm assuming she left to give us unnecessary privacy, for us to show...well, extreme acts of PDAs, I suppose." Stacie's cheeks were slightly pink, and he gave Lucy a shy smile. "I'm flattered a person would think a person like me....so um...plain, and...normal...would do such a thing with such a pretty girl like you, Lucy. I may be wrong, but I think that's why she left. She could've just needed to be somewhere, but...The latter was also likely..." He shrugged, blush deepening - and chewed on his lip, running a hand through his hair. He really didn't know - Stacie misjudged humans on a regular basis, but he really felt like he hit the nail on the head with this one.

✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧

Lucy couldn't help but let her mind wander back to Ms Diane - she had left such an impact on the young mage before her untimely passing just a few years ago. Though time had passed, the wound it had left on the teenager's heart was still fresh and painful. She hugged Plue close to her chest, finding comfort in the still slightly melting spirit as he shivered in her arms (once again, not from cold but rather from the strange emotions filling the air around them).

As Stacie began to smile again, Lucy's thoughts returned to him. He really was quite the gentleman, and his odd quirks only added to his charm. She reflexively smiled back at him before he even began to speak, her cheeks still flushed. She nodded encouragingly to him, noticing that he was taking the time to phrase his sentences in his head before saying them. "Yes, what is it?" She prompted, curious as to what he had to say and as he gave her his explanation, she realized with a start that perhaps her actions had proved to be a little too strong. Her blush reddened even more as she tried to figure out what to say. "Well.." Lucy couldn't help but stare at Stacie's lips as he bit them once more and then her eyes followed his hand as it brushed through his hair. Lucy! Snap back to reality, girl! She blinked a few times, collecting her thoughts before opening her mouth again. "You sang because it felt right, and I danced because it felt right. Just like I hugged you... because it felt... right. Sometimes, when humans don't know how to put their thoughts or emotions into words, we use physical actions. Maybe I did hug you a for a bit too long..." The mage continued to blush, her eyes darting down to Plue for a moment before returning to Stacie's. "But some people react to actions like that in different ways. Perhaps it made her uncomfortable, which can't be helped... Or, like you said, maybe she just had somewhere else to be!" Lucy shrugged, setting Plue down on the floor to wobble about once more. It seemed to the mage that Stacie had grasped meaning of the situation very quickly and she was fairly proud of him for doing so. Despite the slight awkwardness she felt (due to her realizing that maybe she had hugged him for more than one reason), she continued to smile at him, hoping he understood.

Stacie stared at Lucy for a long, long time before he finally grinned and threw his head back, eliciting a gorgeous laugh. It rung out in the room and echoed, and he stopped, tucking a strand of Lucy's hair behind her ear. "You're very cute!" Stacie said with a sense of certainty, nodding. He meant that. She reminded him of a rabbit with her antics and needless explanation of things. Lucy was curious just like a hare, and so eccentric at the same time. "Forget what I said about the guest - it wasn't important." He looked very happy now, with just a few words. Lucy hadn't really made him realize something, but he just noticed the one thing she needed to work on again: Getting easily embarrassed.

He understood why she would be embarrassed - he was, too. But the way she expressed it was so peculiar and so...nice. He liked the way she expressed her embarrassment, even if it was obvious. "There isn't a word for everything. Actions speak louder than words, yes? Whatever it might've been - I'm happy for it. I wouldn't of gotten to see you become this embarrassed again - I'm beginning to like the way your cheeks flush!" Stacie laughed again and smiled, gently taking her by her shoulders so she could face the mirror and see her cute, red face. He smiled kindly from his reflection, eyes un-judgmental, just filled with happiness.

✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧

Lucy raised an arm behind her head, rubbing the back of her neck. Why is he looking at me like that? However, as Stacie laughed she relaxed, staying still as he tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. She smiled and tilted her head to the side, raising an eyebrow as she was curious as to what he was playing at. You never knew what to expect from the banshee, but she loved that about him.

She noticed that he seemed especially happy about something all of a sudden, and decided to just go along with it. She nodded in agreement; he had even gotten the expression right! Letting him turn her towards the mirror so she could look at her reflection she took care not to step on Plue as he wobbled about her feet. She looked at the two of them in the mirror, smiling like goofballs and just enjoying each other's company. Enjoying life. The mage hadn't felt this happy in a long time.

"Oh stop!" Lucy said with a giggle in response to Stacie's fondness of seeing her cheeks flush. "Why do you like to see me so embarrassed anyway?" She turned to face him, still smiling and leaving the question hanging in the air as she gathered her clothes and bag. She decided not to change, as she figured they would be returning to their dorm soon since it was getting so late, as determined by a quick look at the clock hanging from the wall. Lucy knew she had a tendency to get embarrassed easily, and fairly quickly, but there was only so much she could do about it - so most of the time, she just let it happen.

Stacie wordlessly shook his head and shrugged. "You're so...human," He mumbled, closing his eyes and taking a deep breathe. Stacie knew that wasn't exactly a compliment to anyone, simply because of the fact that humans weren't exactly the best things. But if he had to put it in simple terms, he loved that about Lucy. Maybe it was because he had never gotten to spend so much fun with a human and connect with them, but she was so flawlessely human. The way her cheeks stained, and her blush spread up to the tips of her ears and the tops of her chest. Even with her simple shy smile, followed by the needless human antics she had. Shifting, rolling her cuffs around, playing with the end of her skirt. It was all so cute, he had never experienced these things before! And how she expressed her emotions especially made his heart swell, because she wasn't afraid to wear her heart her sleeve. He could see the emotions she had in her eyes and face - they didn't have to be emotions he necessarily understood, but they were there, nonetheless. "I'm sorry if that sounds like a bad thing, but really, to me - it isn't." Stacie looked at her in the mirror again, still smiling his beautiful smile. "Your blushing, and your embarrassment just reminds me how human you are - and I think it's lovely."

✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧

Confused, Lucy approached Stacie once more, bag in hand, and looked at herself in the mirror. Well, of course she was human. Granted a human with magical qualities, but a human nonetheless. In her lifetime so far, she had come across many different kinds of her species that had left her questioning the sanity of the race. Yet, Lucy was an optimistic despite her occasional complaints and always looked for the positives. That didn't explain why Stacie had said what he had, though. She tilted her head curiously, trying to see what it was that he saw in her.

As he spoke once again, she met his eyes in the mirror and smiled warmly back at him. She couldn't explain it, but even a statement as simple as that made her feel all bubbly inside - she wasn't used to compliments. "I'm still not sure I can see what you see... But thank you, Stacie."

All of a sudden, Plue bumped into the mirror with his nose and let out an excited "pew" - it appeared as if his depth perception was a bit off. The mage looked down at him and giggled, thinking that it would be a good time now for the spirit to return to the Celestial Spirit World. "Say goodbye for now, Plue!" She scooped him up and gave him a hug, before pulling his key from her pouch and touching him lightly on the head with it. Quicker than either of them could blink, Plue vanished. Lucy turned back to Stacie saying, "I think we should head back, too." just as her stomach growled. Unable to control it, the mage blushed. "Sorry!"

Stacie watched as she curiously looked at herself in the mirror, and he chuckled, shaking his head. It wasn't something you could see, per see. Especially when you were human yourself. But despite her not completly understanding, she thanked him, and his smile brightened. "It's no problem, Lucy." They stepped apart and both watched the little creature bump into the mirror, both smiling in unison at its silliness. He waved Plue goodbye as he left, and as she turned to him and began speaking, a growl was heard. Stacie blinked, scared for a moment, and looked around. Was there an animal loose in the room? He turned and looked around, hearing the growling a little closer until he looked down at Lucy, seeing her blushing. She was growling?

A closer inspection revealed it to be her stomach, and Stacie smiled in relief. "It's fine, it is pretty late, after all. C'mon, let's head back. " Stacie paused and looked back at the piano, wishing he could sing Lucy one last song before they left. Stacie shook his head and opened the door for her, brushing the thought off his mind.

Lucy brushed her hair out of her eyes, dismissing her stomach's protests with a wave of her hand. "Hm yes, let's. Although..." She began rummaging through her bag, making sure she had everything. Just as she had expected, something was missing. "I think I've lost one of my cuffs... You don't mind waiting a moment for me to check the changing room real quick, do you?" The mage asked, clumsily pulling out random pieces of the clothing she had worn earlier to see if the white and gold wristband had somehow been tucked away or folded over within her shirt or skirt. The blonde looked up to see Stacie nod in agreement and so she dumped her bag on the ground, running off to the changing room to search for the missing cuff, slipping slightly in her tights on the wooden floor. She landed with a soft thunk before looking back at the banshee in the mirror, hoping he hadn't seen her as she picked herself up and disappeared into the changing room, leaving the door open.

Stacie watched with mild interest as Lucy went through her things, trying to locate a lost cuff. What a stroke of luck! As she went into the dressingroom to look for it, Stacie walked over to the piano, still contemplating playing a song. It would be a bit random, wouldn't it? For her to walk out and see him playing the piano, singing a heartfelt song.

He blushed. Would it make it seem like he was happy she lost her cuff? Stacie thought about the lyrics in the song he was contemplating singing. Nope. No, "I'm happy you lost your cuff!" in there. He was sure he'd be okay. With a hand brushing through his hair, Stacie took a seat and uncovered the piano once more, looking down at the keys. He looked over at Stacie, seeing her face morphed into a look of deep concentration, all the while retaining her beautiful smile. Stacie had to smile back. He closed his eyes and began to play the intro. When he began to sing.
"Feet don't fail me now," His voice was lighter, more gentler than before. His eyes were glued to the top of the piano, a somber look on his face. As the song continued, his gaze flickered over to Lucy, giving her one of his charming smiles occasionally, especially when the lyrics referred to some other than him.

✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧

Lucy scrambled around on the floor for a while, searching for the missing cuff. It couldn't have gone far... Her golden locks fell over her eyes, momentarily blinding her as she lay on her stomach to look under the bench. "There you are! How the hell did you get under there?" The mage said quietly, and then rolled her eyes at herself; talking to inanimate objects again she was. Happy with her find, but not with the state of her stockings which were now slightly torn in places from her adventure on the floor, she stood up, ready to return to Stacie. However, just as she was about to share her good fortune, she heard the fullness of the notes coming from the ivory keys of the piano once more.

She peeked her head back out, leaning up against the door frame as she watched him. He looked so content, despite the lines of concentration etched across his forehead and the somber smile playing on the corners of his lips. The slightly disheveled teen with torn tights holding a stray cuff between the tips of her fingers was enraptured by the sound of his voice - in all honesty, she resembled a young child being woken up from a deep slumber, finding comfort in the warm arms of someone slightly older than she.

The teen couldn't help it - she began to walk towards him and the music, his beautifully light voice drawing her to him like moths to a flame in the dark. Lucy leaned against the piano, her brown eyes wide in wonder as they flickered between his eyes, his smile and across his lips down to his fingers as they lightly touched the ivory. She was spellbound, speechless. Even as the last few notes rang out she stood there, unable to speak.

Stacie let the song drag out a little longer just to keep looking into her captivated eyes, and when the time finally called for him to finish, he did - and did it beautifully. The last chords were a mix of all of his emotions, and his last chord was gentle, nothing short of perfect. He stood up, watching her still spellbound, flabbergasted. Stacie chuckled and approached her, taking her left hand in his, and holding it up, almost looking like he was going to place a kiss atop her palm. But he didn't. He took her cuff from her and fit it on her hand, no matter how ridiculous it looked. Stacie simply whispered sweetly, "Wouldn't want to loose it again, hm?" He kept her hand in his and gently patted her cheek to snap her out of it, also leading her to the door. "C'mon, let's feed that beast inside of your stomach, it sounds hungry." Stacie joked with a charming smile on his face, looking back at her to give her a calm grin. He opened the door up, and this time, was ready to leave - feeling immensely satisfied, at that.

Lucy stood there, enjoying the that last few sweet chords before finally meeting Stacie's eyes as he moved towards her and took her hand. She smiled softly, letting him place the cuff back on her wrist, even if it did look a little silly for she was still in her dancing uniform which was now a little ripped in places. She resembled a raggedy doll, but Stacie didn't seem to mind as he held her hand and lead her out the door, suggesting that they go back to the dorm to eat. The mage rolled her eyes at the joke, still smiling as she followed him out, giving his hand a gentle squeeze as she grabbed her bag with her empty hand and shut the door behind them.

✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧
Loke

Lucy opened the door to the Dance Studio, hoping there would be no one else here. She stepped inside, Loke right behind her, and was relieved to find the room to themselves. She disappeared into the changing room, putting on spandex shorts and a baggy shirt, half socks covering the balls of her feet. Loke, because he was a celestial spirit, could change his clothing upon will and he wore simple shorts and a t-shirt. They had talked on the way down to the room, though some things had remained unsaid. The two had spoke of their relationship with each other, and it was obvious that the love output between them was not equal.

The mage flicked through songs on her iPod, finally finding one she felt would help clear her mind. Putting action to her thoughts was Lucy's best way of finding solutions and answers to her most troublesome problems. She plugged her iPod into the speakers, pressing play and taking the floor. Loke sat in front of the mirror, sitting cross-legged as he watched her begin to dance.

As the music began, Lucy felt herself immediately traveling to a whole new world. Beats flashing through her head, her body swiftly rolling into action. In her mind she imagined two boys dancing beside her - her temptations, her problems. Stacie and Loke.

I can feel all the things you've ever felt before...

She knew how Loke felt for her; and she felt the same way... Just... Not as strongly in seemed.

Together. To be.

She loved Loke. Yet... there was something that was missing. She didn't know what, but she knew that while it lay undiscovered, she would never be able to commit to him.

The spirit watched silently, his own thoughts running laps in his head. Unrequited love was dangerous to the heart, but the spirit knew that even if Lucy could not return the deep love he felt for her, she wouldn't leave him. His master would always be there for him, and Loke in turn would always be there for her. Yes, the Leo was upset... But he would do anything for Lucy. Even if it meant that this kind of love was to be forbidden.

The song ended and gently eased into the next one in the mage's playlist. Lucy immediately threw herself into new choreography. It was then that Loke stood and watched her more intently, memorizing her steps. Once she had finished, he restarted the song and took the floor, matching her choreography step for step.

Lucy watched him quietly, trying to catch her breath. He was a beautiful dancer, but he could not keep her spellbound. Unlike Stacie, who could captivate her with just one simple look. The teen closed her eyes as Loke finished, breathing in deeply. Loke approached her and embraced her, his breathing as quick as hers. Lucy's eyes flashed open as the spirit opened his mouth to speak. "Since I've met you, I've grown stronger. It's because of your love that I am who I am. Yet I realize now we both lead separate paths." He held her closer and she relaxed into him, letting him speak. "No matter what happens, I'll always return to you Luce. Always. I love you." Loke placed a gentle kiss atop her head and then stepped back. "Now, stay out of trouble. And don't be a stranger." Lucy smiled at him as he suddenly began to fade away, going back to the celestial spirit world. Even love unreturned has its rainbows...

"I love you, too." The mage quietly said as his smiling form finally disappeared. The mage felt as if a massive burden had been released off her shoulders, and yet... She glanced at her iPod which was paused. There was one more song she wanted to dance to, to wrap things up. She padded over to, flipping through a few songs before finding the right one and taking the floor for the last time.

It didn't matter that Stacie was unique. That he sometimes got things a little bit wrong, sputtering random nonsense and misinterpreting her actions. Nobody was perfect.

And I wanna fall in love with you

Lucy gracefully danced across the floor, losing herself in the music once more. Yes, this felt right. She was certain.

Once the song had ended, Lucy changed back into her clothes and headed for the door. She took one last look at the room and sighed before taking a deep breath and putting a smile on her face. She was ready for whatever life threw at her next.
