Kyrie laughed and eagerly joined in the frantic digging, tossing sand behind her without a care. When something suddenly shifted and both Scim and Isi stopped digging, she paused as well. About to ask what happened, she blinked as both her brother and his grim were swallowed up by the sandy ground.
"Isi!" she cried out and reached her hand out, but they were gone. Frightened, she moved to kneel beside the spot they had been. "Isi? Are you alright?" she called down into the hole. As she did, she leaned forward as far as she could to try to see them. Without warning, the sand gave out from under her and she fell head first into the hole. Managing to twist, she landed on her side with a squawk. "Owww."

Isidore heard his sister fall down through the hole, her squawk echoing throughout the space he had fallen into. It was dark, very dark and it took a moment before he was able to move and push himself upright. He ached and imagined that if he had been a mortal that might have been much worse. “Scim? Kyrie?” he called out. “Are you okay?” Somewhere close by, Scim barked and found his way over, he licked Isidore’s hand to show that he was fine. “Kyrie, are you okay?” Isidore asked, his eyes slowly adjusting to the space they were in.

Kyrie lay still for a moment as the aches washed through her. That had not been fun at all. She had actually been quite scared as she tumbled through the darkness. Breathing sand out of her nose, she slowly pushed herself up into a sitting position. "Yeah," she replied to her brother. Opening her beak, she wiped her hands on her shirt and then reached up to wipe the sand out of her mouth. Pushing herself up to her feet, she fluffed her feathers and gave them a shake to shift the sand from them as well. Hearing Scim's movements, she walked carefully and nearly tripped over her brother's legs. Sitting carefully, she reached for his arm and looked up. The hole that had been so big looked so tiny now. That didn't look good. That did not look good at all.
