Rolling Guide
So a lot of you have begun having to roll for specific events. There are several types of rolls that are likely gonna come up in this rp. For pretty much everything I use D10 for simplicity. This thread will show the main possible outcomes and how to interpret the different rolls. They can be one of the following types of rolls.
* Injury
* Spotting
* Direct Infection
* Contagion
* Infected

Injury
Injury is technically something that can happen anywhere and anywhen. It just doesn't often happen because at present our manifests haven't tried events that could result in some serious damage if gone awry. Essentially, before injury rolls are necessary (if I don't just tell you) you need to examine important factors in your situation that could take it from a minor whatever you're screwing around rp to possibly majorly dangerous.

Things like:
* One character trying to lift another that is actually a good twice their carrying capacity (a horse with an average weight lifting limit cannot lift a leopard seal which can grow up to 800 pounds, or even just a 400 pound seal, without potential for serious injury)
* Using heavy machinery (there's very little of it in this world but it can happen)
* Getting stabbed

So here are the roll rules - even or odd doesn't matter, and each player participating rolls once. There's more leeway to who gets hurt or not hurt with this. High is good, low is bad when attempting stuff here. A 10 or a 1 will be a supreme success or a catastrophic failure.

Roll Rules
* 1 - Catastrophic Failure. Everything goes to butts. Someone is definitely injured, likely really badly, and others could be too.
* 2-3 - Everything is less butts but still faiiiiiiil. You likely are hurt but possibly not as bad.
* 4-5 - Things are not butts. You didn't succeed but you went 'op, no, this aint workin' at the right moment and errybody is safe
* 6-7 - Hey that may have actually worked? Sorta, a lil. It's a strain. Be careful and don't keep it up for long!
* 8-9 - Things are like Anti-butts now. You succeeded! Great job! It isn't super omg easy but screw it, you succeeded, it's easier than it could have been.
* 10 - Supreme success. Everything's coming up YOU. You succeeded you lucky thing and you looked cool doing it. Whatever this is, you managed it easily this time.

Please try to keep regular practicalities in mind. For example, trying to stab Willow or Jelly is not going to work the same as trying to stab Alex or even trying to stab Zera. Trying to lift Jelly or Willow or Xander is also going to work different from trying to lift Alex or Zera. If you need, ask about plusses or minuses to this.

Now when the Adventure areas open up we'll totes see different mechanics for injuries and such, but for now...
You see nothing.

Spotting
Ok here's the hard and fast of spotting. You are looking for something, you may have spotted it randomly. Be it someone going by, or something hiding or even something else. Usually I'll say when to roll one of these. Some characters get a plus or minus to this because for whatever reason they are better at sensing stuff or way worse. I will tell you. Spotting does not have to be explicitly with eyes, it can sometimes be sensed if your character is more likely to do that. We can discuss.

Basic spotting rules are above 5 you spot something, below you don't. Evens are good, odds are bad. Because sometimes you will spot something that can be very negative to you and sometimes you can spot something positive that isn't likely to have detrimental effects on you.

Roll Rules
1-2 - You get distracted. 1 it's by some sort of paralyzing worry like you left the stove on or some crap, and 2 its like oh hey you saw a pretty butterfly or had a nice thought! Maybe you started daydreaming and a 2 is a good one and 1 is a nightmare.
3-4 - You don't spot anything. There's no need to negative or positive here, you just really don't see a thing. Everything looks normal.
5-6 - You may have spotted something? 5 is you may have spotted a something...though that could be a raccoon's buttcrack. 6 you may have spotted something but it could also just be a cloud shaped like a bunny. You never know. Might have to investigate this.
7-8 - You actually spotted something. 7 is something like oh hey I spotted a villain or something unsettling. 8 is you spotted something but it's not a bad something - it could be a good thing! Like an unharmed egg or something cool!
9-10 - Oh you definitely see something. 9 is generally something that is going to mean bad jujus somehow. 10 is something that means good news! It will depend on the situation what good news is but you never know!

Direct Infection
So you have come into direct contact with something of the extremely concentrated potent Nightmare dream type. This could result in an infection of some kind to your character's dream type, or, for guardian characters, a dream type infection or chance to be contagious to manifests. Usually this involves direct physical contact with say Toxkickity or a severely infected egg. Some characters have immunities or weaknesses to this, especially depending on how they are touched.

Roll Rules
1 - A minor scratch, not contagious and really not a big deal except in rare circumstances. If you got one of these and then get whammed again later, you're fine.The scratch isn't a physical one and will dissipate in a few days.
2 - Nope. You good. You have a scratch of nightmare in you but it's gonna heal and dissipate in a few days. If you get whammed again later you might have a chance of infecting but eh it's unlikely.
3 - A chance to be infected, but it's again, just a minor thing, could heal up or get more infected. If you get whammed later though that is a major chance of getting reinfected or getting infected worse.
4 - Your scratch is pretty much gone as soon as it's made. Whatevs. Not a big deal. You are fine even if you get whammed again, it isn't reopening. You might have a very small minor chance of reinfection but who knows.
5 - Infected but it's minorly. if not treated it could spread and get worse but its not contagious or dream threatening. If you leave it untreated, it could worm its way in there and make you sick later, but that's just meh. If you get whammed again though that could get to be major nasty majorly fast.
6 - You don't even get a scratch. That is how nothing this was to you. If you get slammed later, there is nothing for it to open up. You are likely just gonna get a completely new chance of infection and no pluses to it. You might even get a minus to it.
7 - Actively infected and might be contagious and definitely needs treatment or will start nightmareizing with possibly bad results. How long that take depends on the person and where they got infected but be careful with this.
8 - You not only didn't even get scratched by that, you likely can't get infected on getting whammed a second time. If you get whammed a third it might be more likely but you are pretty damn good atm.
9 - You are actively infected, contagious and are going to start turning nightmare somewhat without treatment. It will be more effective over time but it's definitely an issue.
10 - Your dream type's pretty damn resilient. You might actually be immune to contagious individuals completely, and able to handle nightmare stuff with little to no chance of infection. Ho snap.

Contagious Infection
So someone around you got infected. Um woohoo? Well this is how things roll. We are going simple systems on this because it is less direct so less nuanced.

Evens and odds don't matter, it's just ranges of numbers.

Roll Rules
1-3 - You aren't infected from the contagious person! Yay! Not even if you had a previous infection scratch.
4-6 - If you had an infection scratch it may become more infected, and if you didn't ummm you might get a minor one? Who knows. Again it's not a physical scratch so never know.
7-8 - You definitely have gotten a bit of infection. If your exposure is prolonged, you'll have to roll for extent of it.
9-10 - You're infected and need to roll to find the extent. All even rolls have a -1 to them since you're definitely infected. You also have a chance of becoming contagious to others.

Infected Rolls
So you got infected. Oh snaaaaps. We need to know what this does to your character don't we? Well you can either pick from the following list or you can just roll for it. The infection type doesn't change how contagious it is or determine how it will affect another manifest that gets infected from you, but it does affect how visible that infection and contagion will be.

Roll Rules?
* (1 or 6) Monster Type
Your Manifest will be slowly turning into or fuse with a monstrous creature type. We can discuss what types of creatures would suit in this case. This may result in physical tendencies to do with the monster type or not.

* (2 or 7) Fear Type
Your Manifest will be slowly gaining a more extremized or scary version of their regular self and physical changes to go with it. This may result in harder time controlling the infected parts or something.

* (3 or 8 ) Emotion Type
Your Manifest will slowly be going through more emotional changes from their original nature. A really innocent type might suddenly have more desires to do some really cruel and awful things or really wild. This doesn't necessarily mean just turns evil but it can be a drastic change from the norm.

* (4 or 9) Sick Type
Your Manifest instead of changing form is becoming sick from the strain of the infection. It's tearing apart or rearranging their makeup. This may result in the loss of some abilities or something because the two dream types aren't meshing.

* (5 or 10) Mutant Type
Your Manifest is starting to physically mutate. Strange changes and differences to their form that may not have been there before. Different ways of their manifesting or something unrelated to their manifesting are starting to come out.

Please note, none of these changes are explicitly FORCED. It's something your child can struggle against - a change in their nature, something to be controlled or tamed. Lest they be consumed into some new form of creature. These can also be carefully toned down with treatments so that it just becomes a small physical change for them. Signs of the infection will depend on the type you get and the character.
