Phil ducked and blocked the bottom two spikes dodging the top two. The spikes made a loud Cling! when they struck korungr, the stone around the sword shattered, the spikes landed in front of him "If I thought you were one of those pushover creatures, I would have not have wasted my time," Kregore said "But thanks for the complement," Kregore started walking straight towards Ferus, korungr on his shoulder, his arms were shaking a little from the impact

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus licked his beak. How thoughtful, the boy was practically walking to his mouth to be devoured. He took a couple steps back , to possibly fool the boy that he was backing down to fear. His eyes glowed red as his hind legs began to flex, ready to pounce, "You really need to learn the difference between a compliment and a lesson. But alas, you won't be around to put that lesson to use." He gave a loud screech and pounced as Kregore got much closer.

"Now who needs to learn a lesson?" Kregore said as he side-stepped, held up his right hand and snapped his fingers. "Fire Flick!" a flash of fire yet again flashed brightly in ferus's face. Then Kregore jumped back, grabbing Korungr with both hands and swung at ferus horizontally.

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus screeched as he was blinded then was smacked to the side where he collided with a tree and disappeared into a bush. The bush rustled a little then went still. Ferus's voice was then heard all around Kregore, "You impudent little worm... you come into my forest and picked a fight with one of the most feared predators. All of this is beyond disrespectful and pointless. So, before I finish this with your head down my throat, why did you come here and attack me?"

"If you recall, I was very polite, in the beginning, you attacked me, I tried to reason with you, and this whole time you have been attacking me. I wanted two things, one, My guild and I are searching for a certain gem, and my friend says that you might know something. Second, I wished to make a contract with you, but I don't know if I want to anymore,"

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus stopped moving and began to chuckle, "A certain gem you say? Well, aren't we beginning to be too curious. Now, I am intrigued... and you wish to make a contract? Oh how things are going to be..." Ferus jumped out from bushes and tackled Kregore. He stood on top of the boy, beak close to his face, "Delicious... But, I must inquire about one thing before answering your second request... what kind of gem, and why do you want it?" He said as he licked his beak with anticipation. His tail slithered around, spike at the ready. If he wanted to, he could easily split his head while he was pinned by the beast.

Kregore stared at Ferus, unblinking, he was tired of this farce, "The Gem Eye of Deimos, personally, I have no such desire to acquire it, but if my fellow guild members ask of me, I will help them. My friend Curtis told me to find you because you have a notorious special interest for gems. You are strong and cunning, and shooting the spikes is impressive, I think that we would make a great team."

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus's eyes widened and leaped off of the boy, "Deimos...? The gemstone eyes... of Deimos? How... lethal." Ferus began to walk around Kregore again, "We manticores do have a love for precious gems, but nothing compares to the eyes of Deimos. A long time ago, those eyes attracted all of the dark creatures of the world to tend to his will. We manticores were especially mesmerized by the gems of the rare color. Over the centuries, only a small handful of my kind had the mental power to remember what happened, myself included. The eyes are something my kind knows and is something we have sought after..." He sat down, his tail listing back and forth behind him, "If you are seeking them, then perhaps we can come to a deal, maybe... But, there is something you must do for me first." He asked as his eyes began to glow red again.

Kregore was intrigued, he was curious about what a manticore required from a human, "What would that be?" Kregore possessed no wealth, nor any possessions other than korungr

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus licked his beak, "I will be your summon, for a small little favor. Manticores are always looking for precious gems, we even line our nests with them for our young ones to chew on. A little birdy told me, right before I ate it, that your guilds were going to be part of the magical games soon. I was also informed that the trophy for the wining guild has a very rare gem as well. Not the eye of Deimos, mind you, but something very special. All I ask is that you allow me to help you get the trophy, give me the gem, and I will be your full summon... what do you say?" He said as he tilted his head, showing how serious he was for a legitimate deal.

"If that is all that you ask, then I would be more than happy to oblige, the gem is yours," Kregore said, happy that it did not resort to any more violence. "We don't have much time, we must hurry, the games will begin soon"
