The Dream Hatchery

Explanation

The Dream Hatchery, sometimes just called The Dreamery, is the main important area of the Manifests realm. It is the building just beyond the Corporate HQ, though set a good ways back and on a more grassy field like setting.

The Information Desk


Here is where you make contracts to make miracles happen recieve information and forms to do with the acquiring of a Manifest from the Dream Hatchery, and do any other necessary forms required to make sure they have adequate care and information on you for contact. You can also recieve directions places, and often helpful tips on where to get things of import. You cannot, however, become a magical girl here. That would be silly

The main receptionist is a cute little auburn haired young woman named Sally, and the lady from the Mailroom (which is downstairs and does not need its own post) is Gina, and she is sometimes seen slothing upstairs to throw mail at people.

The Meeting Area


This area is separated into two parts - the waiting room, which anyone who is filling out paperwork for the front desk can go sit in at one of the numerous chairs, and the actual meeting space. There are three or four individual rooms where one can go in and meet with a hatchling that has been selected for them. Those who don't want to be fussy can just take the kid and go straight on to seeing about housing or whatever, but those who need to be sure of more can meet with techs or meet with the manifest themself and whatnot. Mots manifests do not go through many of these meetings due to techs handling the discussions first but now and then a Dreamer (as people who are adopting from the hatchery are called) will want to know more before deciding.

The Rookery


The Rookery is an area generally designated for Technicians only, but occasionally someone can be taken through to see on a tour. It features shelves upon shelves of dream eggs that will one day hatch into manifests. These shelves appear to be wooden with cushions on them, but in fact they are a lot more high tech than they appear. These shelves move to rotate eggs so there's more room for them. They can also set off alarms and sensors if an egg is due to hatch, so it can be moved straight to the hatchery. These eggs are kept mostly watched but since they can't 'break' like a regular egg without special tools, they are mostly just watched for infection, which can generally only come from outside dream energy. These eggs are also separated by color type on the shelves.

The end of this hallway has two doors against it - one against the left wall and one against the right, obscured by the shelves. The left wall is the way to the Dream Spinners, and so fresh eggs are brought up from there and put on the shelves, then the egg shelves will periodically move like a conveyer towards the door at the front (where one enters from the Waiting Area) then are transfered through the tube above the door to the shelves on the right, and moving up till they reach the door on that side. That door leads to the Hatchery itself as well as to any areas where the eggs can be checked over.

The Dream Hatchery


The Hatchery itself is an area filled with private rooms, mostly all cushiony and pillowy, generally reinforced against magical damage and set to be able to cushion a newly hatched Manifest. Some of the rooms are more set up to take high impact - such as those from very volatile or dangerous Manifests-To-Be and so will have more metal walls and such, but generally, the Hatchery is kept very neat and careful.

The rooms themselves are more private, save for a window on the door so the technicians can peak in now and then to make sure the egg is hatching properly. There are security and technicians who handle this area, often to see to the care or needs of a newly hatched Manifest. Clothes can be provided if they weren't hatched in some, and clothes can be provided if they weren't hatched in some, and security is generally there to help calm and restrain a hatchling who has a violent time of it for whatever reason - usually those with extremely volatile genes or that were recently cured from nightmare infection. There are also just general caregivers who work in this center who help with the initial clothings and feedings and making sure the new Manifests are taken care of and settle into this new life ok.

The Research Labs


The Research labs are the main areas where the real work is done. They examine dream stuff that is brought in to make sure it is of the right qualities, they check for imperfections, and they check for the health of new eggs while they are still being formed into Manifest Eggs as opposed to just roughly eggshaped dream energy. This is often where techs can start to get a read on the types of powers or natures the Manifest will have when it is older. They also calculate the work from the day's checkups on the eggs in the Rookery. All of this is done to ensure the health and safety of the creatures being brought into the world by the Dreamery.

The Dream Spinners


The Dream Spinners is an area of the Dreamery that is set aside from the Research Labs but is still a major part of it. Here is where dream energy is pumped in from the main dimension the Sweet Dreams and Dream Away companies come from, and the Dream Spinners take the energy and spin it into a form so that it can become a manifest. It does not actually take a lot of spinning except on a very basic physical level - it's really more of a weaving process on the internal powers of the dream energy, then just the physical shape is spun into an egg form.

The Dream Weavers would have been a great title for this area but ultimately they'd feel the need to play that song all the time and that would just get annoying.

The Off Limits Rooms


The Off Limits rooms are a section of the Dreamery that is generally only entered by specifically designated techs. It's where all negative dream energy that didn't get filtered out or formed during the Dream Spinning process is carefully collected off and sent back to its caretakers and researchers back in the home realm. The Dream Away techs here have to work with extreme care since nightmare energy is extremely volitile, especially when it's infecting other dream types.

This is where an egg that's notably infected is taken to have the bad dream energy removed - the further along it is, the more complicated the procedure. The earliest eggs can just be squashed back into dream matter and be respun just the same and no harm done. The furthest eggs can sometimes be fixed if the infection is small, but further along and you get defects in the Manifest such as severe blindness that may not have been previously present.
