Iordanes looks with concern at Serendipity's lovely face, cracked with a frown and a heaviness in her eyes. Clearly there's something on her mind. "It's...it's a good lesson to know," he admits slowly, leaning back on his hands and folding his wings behind him. The cold water feels sharp running over his toes, but with time it subdues to a mere coolness, and he can feel the motion of the water more than the temperature.
"Your mother sounds like quite a woman," he says, watching her face. "Something in your eyes tells me she....isn't around much anymore," he tries carefully.

Panic fluttered through Serendipity's chest; it was obvious that Irodanes could read her emotions as easily as if they were written on her forehead. She was silent for a bit, keeping her eyes closed as she tried to decide if she should break the moment with the depressing topic.
'Well, he is asking.'
"No... she's gone. When the storm hit the island a while back, my mother and my brother both went missing. As far as I know, both of them are dead." She reached up and rubbed away a stray tear, then opened her eyes to look at her beautiful companion. "It's still hard, even after all these years, to accept how my mother raised me; things happen for a reason. I still haven't understood how losing her and Kismet has a 'reason' to it."
She paused, looked down, then back up with a gentle smile. "But such things are a depressing topic, and this is supposed to be a personal vacation for you today."
