so ive been told that gay marriage is now legal for the moment, I was at the doctors all day and only just heard about it. congrats to my fellow non straights and thanks to our allies for supporting us along the way! I believe we can count today as a huge moment in American history

It is indeed something to celebrate. 3nodding I'm very happy to hear that DOMA has been repealed, and I look forward to further progress for those of you in the US and elsewhere.

I just wanted to clarify a bit, though. Thanks to the repeal, couples who are married in their states are now able to access various protections at the federal level, but this does not mean that same-sex marriage is legal throughout the country.

GLAAD has a nice FAQ set up for anyone who has questions about what this all means, what the implications are, and what's still left to fight for.

thanks for telling me, when I posted this I had just gotten home from spending all day at the doctor and my friend gave me the paraphrased version. still a huge ******** step though biggrin

Correct. Rights for same-sex marriage are decided on the state, local, or even tribal levels of government. Nevertheless, yesterday's Supreme Court decision is key to the future of legalizing same-sex marriage throughout the nation. Fun fact: The LGBT district in my area had a huge celebration last night; I heard fireworks and pondered if they had the appropriate permits.

I heard fireworks last night to, but we dont really have an organized gay community here so im not sure if it was for this or something else.

I plan on celebrating by hanging out with my gf all day tomorrow, seeing Darren Criss in concert with her, then sleeping over at her house and spending all night watching Yugioh Abridged! XD
