Nero

User Image

Nero sat there, tapping, tapping, tapping the arm of his throne, as he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. His utter humiliation at that bird-princess's hands was still fresh on his mind--it had been since it happened! Every time he closed his eyes, he saw that small-framed girl towering over him, her... shoe... pressed against his lips. The utter humiliation of it all... he kept glancing down at the spot on his cloak where a phoenix had been branded in. One might think he could just get rid of that, but... he didn't. He couldn't. It was a reminder of his defeat, and a Serenitian god could not undo what had been done to them as the result of a defeat. He would wear that badge of shame for a while longer to say the least.
...And yet he couldn't help but feel... things. As he sat there, watching the scene at the Gold Saucer--seeing that very princess play around with the Restoration King... so close... He felt a sort of deep irritation he had never felt before. "What gives that king the right..." He muttered. As though there were some hidden love affair going on! "Stupid annoying bird... lowering yourself to that. You deserve better than some... stupid, ugly king..." Was Ephraim ugly? Probably not... Was Nero jealous? Probably... Quite the interesting turn of events. The god had been alive for a very long time, and had never felt longing towards another being in a way that resembled attraction. But now... well...
Sighing, Nero shook his head, trying to shake off his thoughts and feelings. As the group met with the Mastermind, Nero glanced at Cosmos. "It's your turn," he said. "If that weapon of his gets loose thanks to these idealists trying not to kill her, she could very well destroy all life on this world--and ours--just like her dear father tried to do. Clearly, I cannot handle the stupid bird, I will just be humiliated again if I try. This is your area of expertise, anyway. Enter the tournament--it shouldn't be hard for you to beat them all--and destroy the weapon when she reveals herself. Do you think you can handle that?" Given she was the Goddess of War, and had centuries of experience, he didn't worry too much over her ability to beat this idealistic band of bravos. "And... if you get to fight that king, Ephraim, in the finals... I'd appreciate it if you could break him beneath your heel for me." Silly jealous Nero. "I'll owe you one. And I'll even apologize for the shake thing, too, as a nice bonus."

Artemis

"Just walk beside me, and be my friend."

User Image

"...If the two of you want to make friends, there are better ways to go about that." One of the High Serenitians addressed the two gods sitting on their thrones, as the meeting chamber was mostly empty. There wasn't a meeting happening now, so most of the High Serenitians had gone their separate ways to do whatever they tended to do. Artemis didn't have very much interesting in his life, though, and as such, he didn't get out too often.
"I've been alive for thousands of years, Arty. The last thing I need is the companionship of some trite mortals." Nero said boredly, spinning three small metal orbs over his palm for seemingly mild entertainment. "Cosmos is unfortunately the only thing I have to deal with on a daily basis, so the only bond I have is with her. ...As gross as it is to bond with that."
"...Cosmos is a lovely goddess, I'm sure many would be happy to bond with her."
"Don't tell me you're getting seduced by her body too, like all those mortals."
"...Not exactly." Artemis crossed his arms. "All I'm saying is, both of you have nothing to lose by making friends with those people, and maybe it would help you."
"Or maybe it would cause us to degenerate like good ol' Dagon. Or the humans would try to exploit us, leading us to be killed like Larona. There are plenty of examples of our good old dead friends consorting with mortals, and how poorly it can go."
"...Right... but what about the Talora? She gained strength from her companionship with a mortal, did she not?"
"Oh boy, you've done your homework," Nero responded boredly. "She sure did, Arty. And what happened? Cosmos killed her in the war just like most of the other gods. Wow. So much strength she gained."
"I wasn't aware Cosmos was the one who killed her."
"Yes, my dear friend here killed most of them. The war was less a war and more Cosmos's Century-Long Slaughter." The war between the Serenitian gods was long and horrifying, and of the many gods that once existed to govern Serenity's balance, only two now remained. And while some gods were killed by others, Cosmos killed a lot of them. Almost all, even.
"I see..." Artemis knew some amount of history related to that war, but there were many details that only Nero and Cosmos knew, as the only two still around who experienced that war. "Why didn't she kill you, I wonder?"
"My devilishly good looks, of course," Nero sighed out as he leaned back in his throne. "She approached me, down on my knees, with her scythe drawn, and all it took was me running my hand through my hair, and, well... you'll understand what happened after when you're older." He wore a smug expression as he recounted this tale, which was most likely a complete lie. Whatever the reason was for them deciding to end the war before crowning an Omnigod, that was a reason that would remain only between them, it seemed.
"...Right. I have my doubts the two of you have ever been quite so familiar with each other..." Then again, they had been ruling with only each other for a long time. Who really knew? Regardless, there was clearly quite a deep trust between them, even if there seemed to be no romantic connection.
"Tell me, Arty: have you ever been so familiar with a girl? Or guy, you know, I don't judge."
"What kind of-"
"Don't actually answer, I'm a god, I know you haven't. Do you think you'll ever get there just standing around here? You should probably go out and fraternize some. You're so worried about us being good pals with the mortals, so you should go do that. I'm sure you're horny for someone in particular."
"...Er... well, there is some girl I find rather enchanting, but... I have more important things to do than go chase skirts. Besides, it's... a bit complicated."
"Yeah, she's a Reaper, I know. Almost like I'm a god or something. Of Wisdom, even. You know, maybe go ask some girl about how to woo another girl. Might help you."
"...Er, if you think it wise... Cosmos, how should I-"
"Not her, good god. Anyone else. Go ask Unisha or something. Wait, no it's a Reaper. Why don't you go cook her some big feast of meat? Reapers love meat, right? They like biting people, so I assume so."
"Not very romantic..." If only he knew how well that would probably work. "...Anyway, this is hardly something worth discussing. I have more pressing matters to attend to than-"
"Like what?"
"...Like... coordinating our next meeting."
"Coordinating. Right. We just sit in a room and yell at each other for a few hours. There, I did it for you. Now go."
"...No."
"Aw, you're nervous. You know, she'll be really glad to see you, a High Serenitian, if you show up in front of her, kneel, and offer to be her slave." And finally, Artemis's face got a bit of color, as he turned away. "Oh wow, cute innocent-looking Arty is kinky. That's so cute."
"E-enough! I... have things to do." Taking a breath, he turned and walked the short distance from the thrones back to the large desk that the High Serenitians sat around to hold their council, taking a seat and summoning a small stack of papers to begin to work through, to organize the upcoming meetings, among other things. Nobody exactly made Artemis the High Serenitian secretary, but no one else was willing to do it, and it needed to be done, so.

Velora

User Image

"Wha- Reaper!!" One High Serenitian practically fell out of his seat in shock as the presence practically just appeared outside the meeting room.
And a short moment later, the doors were politely opened. Strange, one would almost expect them to go flying of the hinges. That's usually how these scenes went. "Hello, Nero," Velora addressed the one at the head of the long table, placing her hands against it and leaning forward. "I've come to make a deal."
"You've come to die!" Multiple High Serenitians shot from their seats, drawing any number of unique weaponry.
Velora rolled her eyes, turning and slashing her Anti-Matter Sword with keen precision and literally disarming one who lunged at her.
"Enough." Nero's voice boomed through the room, causing every High Serenitian there to stop in their tracks. Aside from one, who quickly went to help the handless one with healing. "You can't beat her." Nero said, clasping his hands together above the desk. "Velora. To what do I owe this pleasure, person who shouldn't exist? Did you need me to call up Ephraim or Krul for you?"
"Yes, yes, very clever. Congratulations." She really couldn't care less if he was aware of her lineage. "I'm here to sign a pact in your blood. And I'm here to take Cosmos." The room immediately erupted in angered shouting, "what gives you the right"s and "how dare you"s aplenty. Nero, however, remained silent. "I can kill you all before signing the pact if you'd like, but I'd prefer not to waste soldiers. Nero, you're the one who's cowered here, cycle after cycle, fully aware of Selene. If you're too scared to act, I'm here to do it for you. I'm creating an army, and I'm unifying the world, starting with you."
"Is this for your "conquest"?"
"No. I'll deal with my conquest after Selene's head is removed from her shoulders. The pact I intend see you sign puts you all in my service until Selene is dead. Win your freedom by helping me and Avalanche kill her." She COULD force everyone into permanent servitude, perhaps, but she didn't want that hanging over the heads of her soldiers. She wanted them to know freedom awaited them, so that they would fight harder to earn it against Selene. Afterwards, she was more than fine with beginning anew to unite the world in a more permanent rule.
"What do you want with Cosmos?" Artemis probed warily.
"I want her as my slave." And once again, an choire of angry Serenitians, silenced a moment later by her slamming her fist down on the table. "I'm going to unite the world alongside Avalanche by force. I want the best muscle I can find to help me with that. That's her. If you have a problem with that, I'll kill you." She was certainly not here to ******** around or please anyone. She wanted her alliance on her terms, absolutely, without question.
"Why not ask her to be your partner, rather than your slave?"
"Not good enough. I'm not leaving any room for disobedience, not from her, and not from the contracts I'm making everyone sign. We will all unite to defeat Selene, or we will all die together. Those who refuse to sign will die first by my hand, and Cosmos's, once she joins me." She had every intention to force the issue if Cosmos wasn't receptive to the idea. The council of High Serenitians began to speak now, more in murmurs and whispers than angered shouting any longer. The raw power radiating from Velora like an aura left no room for doubt just how powerful she was. Indeed, she could slaughter every High Serenitian here like cattle and hardly break a sweat. But she wasn't here for that. She offered an alliance instead--one with a very tight leash, but an alliance to save the world nonetheless. And still, Nero remained silent. It was hard to discern what ran through the God of Wisdom's head in this moment.

"Ooh? How touching. I am the best here, aren't I? " Came that familiar, proud voice. Cosmos would appear there, as if she had been there the entire time, that ever so smug look on her face as she floated there in midair, her legs crossed and in a obvious eye-catching pose. She was perfection, in every way, as far as she thought, and clearly wasn't afraid to show it! "This is the most interesting conversation to have taken place in......countless years. It is also the most amusing.." She finally looked downward, her eyes coming to rest on Velora. "A slave, you say! Oh, I keep hearing those words replay in my mind, it IS amusing! If things were different, and the world wasn't facing such a crisis, I would have taken off that pretty little head. Though, for now...I will go along with your little play. I can't help but commend you on your bravery, unlike your mother. " That and, despite who she was, it was a daughter of Krul who would stop at nothing and do what was necessary to save the world. It may not seem like Cosmos gave a damn about the world sometimes, but for now, as she agreed to go along with Velora's plan, and become her 'slave', it probably meant she cared more then she let on. "Just don't expect me to call you master. "

Velora

User Image

Velora turned her gaze upward as Cosmos appeared above everyone else--fittingly--and Velora's hard expression softened along with a very obvious flush of her cheeks. That hard determined expression certainly wavered a bit--Cosmos was certainly good at presenting herself, and from this angle, it was even more effective. Oog... She's even hotter in person... Velora thought to herself, feeling herself trembling slightly. One might think she was trembling from fear, but that wasn't exactly the case. She's intimidatingly hot, ugh... just... imagine her in her underwear, and- wait, that wouldn't help! Why did this make her far more nervous than confronting the Beast?! Besides, she's basically already there... She certainly didn't hide her skin, did she? Her... perfect... skin... Velora shook her head quickly. She really needed to not get entranced here! "Clearly." She said, her tone of voice not faltering despite her sudden nerves. Speaking confidently allowed her to calm herself down, at least, and refocus on the topic at hand. Velora let out a visible, though inaudible, sigh of relief as Cosmos agreed to what she said. She did feel confident she could defeat Cosmos and force the issue, but it would be a bloodbath on both sides, one that would stall her plans for a long time to recover from the fight. Besides, she really didn't want to drag the goddess around kicking and screaming--even though Velora was confident she could win, she wasn't confident she could win 10/10 fights with her, and any loss would likely mean death. "Well, I do take some traits from my father, I suppose." She responded casually. Yes, she and possibly the world should be thankful for that, at least for now. They may all come to regret it once her conquest began, but that was shelved for now. "I would prefer if you just called me Velora anyway, m-ma'am." Her head lowered quickly in embarrassment at that, god, she was doing a great job keeping that unfaltering face up until now. Why did she call her ma'am? And why did she stutter? Ugh. "I mean, I'll call you master if you want, even, if it would make you more comfortable, err..." God, just stop talking. Cosmos's presence was intimidating enough to even affect Velora of all people. ...Whether that was her power or her attractiveness, who could say. "...So then, Nero--does this plan have your blessings?"
"..." After his long silence, Nero finally unfurrowed his brow, and leaned back in his seat. "If Cosmos agrees, I do, too." And what followed was exactly as he expected.
"You can't be serious!"
"She has no right!"
"Expel her from this place! Destroy her!"
"Cosmos is an idiot, why are you listening to her?!"
The entire room erupted with shouting and ire, mostly directed at Nero, though some was still directed at Velora. "Enough!" Artemis slammed the blunt end of his staff against the ground, sending a shockwave through the room that caused everyone except Nero, Cosmos, and Velora to slide back a bit--some fell to the floor. "The gods have spoken. Unanimously, for the first time in a long time. It's rather refreshing, really."
"Cosmos is an idiot. But maybe that's why we should listen to her. She acts on instincts, and unfortunately, I trust her. If she believes Velora can accomplish this, then I'll trust her."
"A god has never been claimed by a Reaper, this is an outrage! It's insulting!"
"First time for everything," Velora said coolly, crossing her arms.
"How dare you! A Reaper being here at all is-!"
"Enough, Quinny. No more outbursts from anyone or I'll dismiss you all."
"...Thank you, Cosmos, Nero. I'm glad this didn't have to get bloody." She had a feeling this was the only agreement that would be reached without bloodshed. ...Or with minimal bloodshed, at least. Stepping onto the table, she tapped into the Beast's power enhancing her to allow her to lift herself into the air, coming to meet Cosmos. "Eheheh, uhh, you, uh, like biting?" God, why did she feel so nervous? She never felt nervous. "It's a pretty good kink, I think, err... right." She placed her hands gently on Cosmos's arms, pulling her to her, and piercing her neck with her teeth. Closing her eyes, she began to initiate the claiming process, injecting part of her own blood into Cosmos while simultaneously drawing some of Cosmos's into her. Cosmos would feel the change more acutely than most, being not only a Serenitian but a goddess. Ugh, why does she have to smell so good? And why did she have to think such weird things at a time like this?
After the process ended, and the Velora earned the silent ire of almost every High Serenitian in the room, Velora leaned back, and she had no way to hide how red her face was. "...S-sorry, this is my first time, err... I mean, claiming someone! I don't mean- I'm not trying to make everything sound... weird." When she was the Reaper Queen, she preferred forcing people to submit in other ways. She disliked the idea of claiming anyone as most Reapers did, and so she had never done it. But, just like with the Beast, all bets were off. She would do whatever she had to. Cosmos would feel herself drawn to Velora as claimed individuals were to their "masters," not to an extreme amount, but more so like there was a subtle magnet pulling her towards her. Clearing her throat awkwardly, she turned. "All right, time to draw up that contract."

It took several minutes to work out the details between herself and Nero, as the High Serenitians watched on in forced silence. This was the contract that would bind not only them, but everyone else she "convinced" to Velora's service, and therefore to Avalanche's. "...There it is. A forced, temporary treaty, ensuring no conflict and fully peaceful relations between the signing parties and Avalanche. The penalty for breaking this agreement is on an individual level, and the punishment will lead to death if it isn't corrected. The treaty will only be considered completed and void upon the defeat of Selene and her forces. Signing this in your blood will validate it, and henceforth all who sign will be sworn to follow."

"Yes, I was here while we were writing it, you don't need to repeat it." Nero said lazily, summoning a pen with a blade on the opposite end. He stabbed the blade slightly into his skin, drawing blood into the pen which formed a magical ink.
"Nero-!"
"One more word and I'm putting you in timeout." Nero warned, leaning down. "I, Nero, God of Wisdom, sign this contract on behalf of the High Serenitians. You and Avalanche will have our aid when Selene comes." And so, he signed the contract in his blood--his name being the first of assumedly many. After he finished, the parchment began to glow with a soft, golden light, and the contract was activated. "I've seen Selene destroy our worlds many times, Velora," He leveled with her quietly. "You're going to need a lot more than this to win."
"I'll win." Velora said with such a level of certainty it was almost frightening.
"I hope you're right." Nero leaned back. "Artemis." Artemis nodded. "The contract compels us to send one emissary to Avalanche. I'm sending you."
"Wha- are you sure? What about-"
"We'll be fine, Arty. Go, and explain the situation to them. Better you than..." Nero had an idea on where Velora was going next. "The emissary will stay with Avalanche until the battle comes, and will assist with what's necessary. They will also bring messages to and from both us and Avalanche. So, make yourself at home."
"...Understood. I'll try not to embarrass everyone." Artemis nodded, and a moment later, he vanished.
"What a silly kid," Nero turned, crossing his arms and looking at Cosmos. "Stay safe, Cosmos. Don't let her ride you too hard." Now who was the one saying needlessly suggestive things? "Good luck, Velora. I hope things turn out the way you intend."
"Oh, they will. I'll make sure of that." She turned to look at Cosmos, now. "Well, partner... Do you need to do any packing for our little trip? I think you'll like our first stop. We're gonna pay a little visit to my dear, ignorant mother."

Cosmos tilted her head slightly, and Velora would see the small, knowing smirk on the Goddess's face. She might know exactly what that meant, unless of course, she for some reason, didn't think a room full of High Serenitians, a God and Goddess wouldn't hear her private thoughts. Did Cosmos care if anyone else 'heard' them? Heck no. It made her feel all the more better! "It almost sounds to me, you want to see me wearing even less..Hehehe..." Why stop there? "Once we've won this war, how about you and me take a little skinny dippin' in the hot springs? " That smirk turned into a wicked grin, did she actually mean that? Who knew, it was Cosmos. She did love to tease and mess with people.
"Ma'am? " It was hard to contain herself, and the laughter that followed 'almost' knocked her off her balance due to such a huge loss of concentration for the moment. That word, directed at her, was just the strangest thing she may of heard in all her years. No one had ever addressed her that way before. "Oh you, I'm enjoying this visit far to much..I can't wait to see what else is in store for me during our journey. "

And finally, came the beginning of that journey to be as the claiming process took place, just another new experience for Cosmos to remember, never in her dreams did she expect she would even allow for this to happen, yet, here she was, willingly accepting the Reaper Queen's fangs. It wasn't until the process was over that she took a moment to adjust to the strangeness of it's affects, it wasn't in Cosmos's nature to feel drawn to anyone, she never let herself get to close to anyone, anyone but a certain blonde God. "That's a new experience..." She glanced at the red-faced Reaper, giving her a curious look that would soon fall into a amused grin. The awkwardness of the claiming process didn't stay with her long, did it? "Hehehe...You act so tough, but there's a part of you that's just a shy, awkward little Reaper! "
As they began to discuss the matters of the contract, Cosmos just quietly watched there, eventually lowering her feet to the ground as they spoke, and Nero began his step in signing his name of blood to the contract. "This was quite an eventful day..One of the best.." It beat sitting around here all day, everyday, dwelling in the thought of another end to come. They really didn't know fun at all, with all their power, they couldn't do anything to rid away the looming threats that rest in their mind for so long..
"..Hmm? Okay, try not to get to jealous then.." She responded right back at Nero. As if that would ever happen!! But it was worth the remark to fluster the both of them, if possible. Turning to Velora next, she shook her head. "No, i'm fine. Let's go see her then. "

Velora

User Image

Seeing that knowing smirk on Cosmos's face just lit Velora's face and gave her a small shudder, and the words that followed only made it ten times worse. O-oh, that's- Gosh, even her mental voice sounded horribly nervous now. At Cosmos's next teases, Velora's face flushed even further, dear lord, she was getting wrapped around Cosmos's finger here. She had to push back, just to try to salvage some of her dignity before Cosmos stripped it away. Ehhm, once we've won? Why wait? She returned right back to her, trying very hard to sound smooth, cool and in control, but probably not doing a great job considering how much Cosmos had already affected her. And her face only turned further red as Cosmos laughed at her sudden, nervous politeness. Ugh, no one was supposed to be able to turn the powerful and skilled Velora into a blushing schoolgirl, but Cosmos did it as naturally as she breathed. She simply accepted defeat, bowing her head and saying nothing out of fear of making it worse.
"Well, did you- er, never mind." Like it? Did it matter? "I could also do it by kissing, but that's- I mean- never mind." Biting somehow felt like the more polite way to do it! "I... I am not awkward!" She protested in one of the most awkward ways ever. Gods, if she inherited this from anyone, it must have been her father. She usually wasn't nearly as awkward as him though...
Shortly thereafter, she would nod as Cosmos conveyed her readiness. "Good then. One bite and I'm already taking you to meet my parents, haha, er, that's so- ...ehm... bad joke." Man, she felt like an idiot around Cosmos. Funny since she was likely a good bit more intelligent, but whatever. She would vanish soon after, holding onto Cosmos to ensure she could enter the Reaper Realm as well.
