"I got it!!" I exclaimed and I reeled my arm far behind my head, I could feel the muscles and metal extending and growing as I prepared to throw our saving grace. The shuriken glowed a fiery red as I hurled it toward our target and within the shallows of a second the target was in bloody pieces of dead flesh.
I never stopped running even when the target was terminated, I hurriedly scooped up the briefcase and turned but in front of me was a wall of flame. "s**t...Can you hear me?! Go back to the place where we met! I will meet you there!!" I yelled and hurried to the exit the man was previously going prior to his demise. The fire was hot on my back even with the armor and hat lay in front of me were dilapidated and collapsing rooms that were determined to make his escape skeptical.
In a moment of desperation I began to panic and run through the rooms with no real sense of direction but the light at the end of the corridor. My vision blurred as the fumes from chemicals burning finally began to overwhelm my oxygen filters in my armor preventing any real attempts at sprinting. However, I saw a barrel adjacent to my position labeled with a hazard sign and in this moment of desperation I began to create.
'I know that if I just explode this in a certain direction will propel me forward...but how do I contain it?' and once again answering my own question I took off the safety lock on my arm and began to tinker with it so it became a cylinder with an open end where the chemical would go in. I scooped it carefully into the exposed barrel and retrieved a piece of burning material and put it in the cylinder I had created and aimed the open end away from me so it would push me."Please god, let these pressure valves in this thing work and keep the explosion under control...God-" I was cut off by the chemical reaction going off in the cylinder and propelling my body forward to the other side very quickly and practically launched me into a hill of snow.
"Yesssss!!!! It worked!!!!" I exclaimed but the cylinder began to sparkle and crack "Oh, you can have this back!!" I threw it at the burning building and ran toward the spot I had first been. Boy am I glad I threw it, the explosion did not only blow out half the building but shrapnel was everywhere. "Where are you? I am out.. I got the brief case still, I don't know how but I do." I could almost kiss the thing but I was running to hard to do that.

Layla Skylor Monroe ❛THE PYRO❜LET ME LIGHT UP YOUR WORLD❧ As soon as she heard her teammate yell the command, she was off. Layla locked her armor in place at her nose to keep away the harmful smoke. She slid under a fallen pillar, refusing her body's want to slow down. Layla was at her feet in an instant, then suddenly knocked to the floor. "Ahhg!" she grunted, hitting the top of her unarmored head on cement. "s**t!" her vision blurred, and for some reason she could not get up. Someone was on top of her. She felt a hit at her face. It was a man, hitting her over and over. With all her strength, she pushed her arm against the man so she could reach a knob at the wrist of her opposite arm. She quickly turned it, and armor peeled over the back of her head and connected where her nose was. Now she was completely covered, but no body parts showed. Not even her eyes, though she could see fine. As her eyes focused, her vision was still blurred from the concussion to her head. Layla then realized she had caught the man's fingers at the cranny of her armor where it had connected. She heard him screeching, and the pressure on her body was released. Layla quickly stood, giving the man more and harder punches to his face until he had no fight left, until he was motionless. Blood was splattered on her armor. Layla took a few steps back, stunned. "Jesus," she breathed. Then she remembered. She began sprinting again, dodging the falling debris. She suddenly came to a halt when realizing there was no way around this circular wall of fire. My armor...it's fireproof. she thought. How did she know that? She felt her body dash through the fire. She was unscathed. Then she heard his voice, and she began to follow it. "I'm here!" she choked out as she lowered the armor from her gashed face. "I'm here! I'm here!" she yelled out again. Then suddenly her body was being lifted up, and a light was shining on her. "No! No! He's still there!" she screamed, helplessly fighting against the force. It was futile. "We know. He'll be safe." she heard a voice. "You made it in time." the monotone voice spoke again. It was too much. It was too much for her. The voice faded, she no longer understood it. She drifted off then, unconscious. ↘↘

I saw a bright light radiating from the spot where the girl and I first arrived to this desecrated world. 'That must be my ticket out...' the thought drifted off as the light dimmed considerably. " Am I out of time already?" I ran with more speed and strength than I have have ever exerted in my entire life. Finally I stood directly beneath the light with the briefcase in tow. However I had been noticed, multiple red signatures appeared on my visor and they were coming towards my position fast. In desperation I jumped at the light and yelled at it in hopes that I would be retrieved soon. I began to float up off of the ground suddenly. "Bout' time, these guys are shitting bricks about their shiny toy being stolen." I yelled sarcastically then the world faded to black before my eyes. "Welcome back..." A deep male voice said which caused me to open my eyes and see that I was back the capsule which I was back home ..sort of. The door opened and the briefcase was promptly taken from me. "Care to tell me what the hell is going on, why you would choose untrained citizens, and what is this time travel for?" I crossed my arms and towered over the man. I saw that women was coming out as well and I raced over to her. "Are you alright?" I asked with so much concern that it surprised me. "You are all qualified enough for these missions...your engineering and medical background is what we need for this job. Your knack for firearms is amazing and we need that. But the real reason is because only people with certain genetic codes can enter these machines and come out on the other side not mutated..we don't have the time to train you...war is about to be upon us and will be the last war. You were the best people who qualified and matched the genetic codes to survive." I felt my eyes narrow at him. "That was only one question, what about the others...?" He walked past us nonchalantly "What we are building from the parts and information you assemble over the time missions is classified; however,.I can tell you why we are doing this." He motioned for us to follow him to a room with a map of the world and it highlighted the population density of each area. "We have enough intelligence to confirm that in the next year some organization will release a hazardous biological weapon into world. We don't know what it does or what type of pathogen it is, all we know is we have to stop it. "Then why don't you send more intelligence?" I asked "Because, we are running out of time and our operatives have been terminated...simultaneously last week. We know that other countries are investigating but we are running out of time. This device we are building will solve this threat but we simply don't have the things to build it, not even precise replications of the parts would not suffice. The parts or materials always existed in a different era. The time machine was made ready and perfected for this assignment and now that we have the people to do it we can finally put a stop to this menace.."

Layla Skylor Monroe ❛THE PYRO❜LET ME LIGHT UP YOUR WORLD❧ [[I said I was unconscious lol]] Layla jolted upward in the bed she was placed in. The walls were so white is was almost blinding. As her eyes adjusted, she scanned her surroundings. She tried to move, but something tugged at her right arm. "Ah!" she screamed. An IV was connected to a vein in the middle of her arm. She grunted as she gained the courage to take it out of her arm; needles were her worst fear, after all. She got out of the bed and stood, feeling the chill of the cold, white tile on her bare feet. She walked over to the mirror, touching the bandages on her arm, studying the white gauze around her head. "What the hell happened to me?" she muttered. "Where am I?" she stumbled to the other side of the room when eyeing her clothes. The clothes she had worn before she was transported here. When changed, she waltzed out of the room to expect nurses and doctors, but instead she saw people in suits, armor, and lab coats. "Tony!" she screamed, her eyes beginning to water with tears. "Tony!" she screamed again as she ran down a hallway, not knowing where it lead. She barged through a door. "Tony, where are-" she came to a halt when seeing Serva and the man he was with. Serva looked familiar, but she couldn't place him. Her eyes narrowed, forcing tears to stream down her bruised cheeks. "What did you do with him?!" she screamed at them. Layla didn't remember anything thanks to her concussion. Before she could reach them, she fell to the floor from a throbbing pain in her head. Quick images of the mission and what she had learned knifed at her brain. She felt herself clutching her head like it was going to explode, then she released herself when the pain ceased. She was even filled with the knowledge of what was just told to her teammate. Layla looked at the strange man's shoes that stood next to Serva. "What the ******** have you done to me." she muttered.↘↘

(oops, i thought she was still in the capsule because you always pass out when you are time traveling, plus in the last post i did not see where you indicated that she was taken to an infirmary or anywhere so the logical thing was to assume she was still in the capsule and would awaken once the doors open. Forgive me.)
My teammate falling to the floor before me snapped my stream of consciousness and she became my top priority. "Are you alright?! Who is Tony?" He became confused then looked up at the man in front of them. "Look, what you are doing is noble and just but we want no part of it." He helped her up slowly and walked to the nearest chair and sat her down.
The man chuckled deeply "Enjoy your naive little world for now and rest, the next mission is in one day." And without another word he left us alone to think about what was going to happen next. I did not pay attention to him instead i focused on the woman. " I noticed that we don't know each other's name, my name is Serva. What is yours?" I asked.

Layla Skylor Monroe ❛THE PYRO❜LET ME LIGHT UP YOUR WORLD❧ ((sorry for the late reply. and that's okay lol)) Layla looked up at him. She ignored his question about Tony. Too personal, too soon. "Serva," she smiled when his name came out of her mouth. Her eyes were still watery, making her eyes seem like they were sparkling. "I'm Layla," she answered, slouching in the chair he had placed her in. Weakly, she raised her hands to her head and ripped off the bandages, then threw them to the floor. One day. the man's words echoed in her head. "I wonder what they'll have us do next." she breathed. ↘↘

I shook my head vigorously. I was just as confused as she was like couldn't do a damn thing about it. when I looked at her closely I saw that she had watery eyes. I look for a box of tissues and gave it to her. "are you crying?please don't cry, Layla.." I murmured as I knelt down in front of her with concern. however, a couple of moments later men came in what seemed like doctor uniforms, gathered us, and took us to room. They explained that they had to eradicate any remnants from the area that we went to. they put sensors on our bodies and put us under a certain kind of light I was nervous but I felt better when I looked at Layla. I knew i wasn't in this alone.

Layla Skylor Monroe ❛THE PYRO❜LET ME LIGHT UP YOUR WORLD❧ As they were rushed to another unfamiliar room, Layla still clutched at the tissue. "What's happening?" she said quietly, almost at a whisper. She dropped her tissue, now crumped, to the floor as the strangers roughly attached sensors to her body. "I thought we got a few days off?" she asked, confused. Her throat closed as she pushed back more tears. No. Tonight was the only time she would let her guard down, the only night she would let her emotions take over. Layla needed to accept that Tony was gone. ↘↘
